Things I learned this weekend: you are never too old to play chutes and ladders, you are also never too old to play dress up (especially if your daughter decides that you should try on one of her sparkly shrugs and tiara to be a princess), and that I need to shave and I need a haircut badly.

Oh well, I suppose I'll be heading to the barber after work today.

You are a good father! I am always saddened when father's do not do such activities with their daughters.

I really do try! I don't understand why they don't do them, myself. I mean, children grow up so fast, so it's better to cherish these years and help fuel their imagination.

I hate the gender conformity that we push onto children. If I stuck with all that, I wouldn't be into mechanics and engineering...

That is also true. I also never understood why parents would get upset about their boy picking up a doll, or their little girl picking up Legos. I think my favorite thing I've seen about that this year is this (be warned, the little boy let's out a very high pitched squeal close to the end of the video).

We've honestly never steered Elicia one way or another, she's allowed to pick out her own toys and everything now that she's older. Mostly I think she just enjoys seeing me in a tiara.
