Very true, but think of every literary class you've ever taken; how many of them focus on the classics? How many of them have you read Verne, or Dickens, and break those down, understand those? What if they made you do that with, say, a poorly written series like Twilight, or something well-written, but long-winded and a bit lose like the Sword of Truth series... and had you break down something like that? It might have driven the more prominent literary majors mad, but the ones just beginning? They may have enjoyed it, and understood the concepts more.
