I've read about that in books, though I don't have a lot of experience with it on the giving end... Booker is a lot like that, though. He says all the time that his love and the rest of him isn't worth anything to us, but I think that's just how he feels about it. It's not how it really is. He uses the pain he's been through before like armor, and continuously hurts himself with it. And he pushes people away because of how he feels, then points at the people he's pushed away as proof that he isn't worthy of love... but he was the one that pushed. It's... self-fulfilling.
Nor do any of us really enjoy being protected from things when those we love are hurting.
But she probably would do that, yes. And that might be funny?
