That's bullshit. How was living in your truck going to keep you sober? At what point would you look around at the cramped, slightly smelly cab of your truck, which is too short for you to lay down in and think, 'This is worth experiencing with no alteration to my senses at all, I definitely want this to be my life.' Oh, or would you sleep in the bed, under a tarp, completely exposed to the elements, then go into work the next morning and do your very difficult and emotionally draining job, then repeat that process over and over, despite having many people around you who would give you a place to sleep with no questions asked.
Looking at past decisions is wonderful, but planning for the future is more important by far. Without applying the lessons you learned all you're doing is emo navel gazing. You're sober, and that's fantastic, but you're not making it easier on yourself by just going through life with no plan and nobody around who can get close enough to even know that you need help. Because every decision has the chance to be major and life altering.
