The Reaper is dead. There is cleanup to be done, a lot of it, but this war... this war is over. It wasn't a clean fight, and it wasn't a fucking good fight, but it was a fight we will remember, and in the end, we paid a price of blood most dear.
In the wake of war, of monsters, of devastation, we often look for answers, and for reasons why things like this happen. And the answer is, there is no reason, no answer, that will calm the anger, the frustration, the fear. Some will deny that, some will come forth with false answers and try to point to someone as responsible, or someone as doing something wrong, or right.
But in the end, this was an act of violence, done against us all. And we pushed it back. Together. Some stayed home, and out of danger, as they should. Some worked with medical teams, to help others, or transported people, and food, and supplies. Some fought.
Some died.
But we all stood together, and we all threw it back. People from all walks, from various time sand places and cultures and pasts, stood together despite all reason and threw it back. And in the end, there is peace now. A chance to lick our wounds, to recover, to hold our loved ones and to sleep deep sleeps, and try to come back from it.
But not to forget.
We live in the hope of peace, the hope of life, the hope of love. We live in hope, for the future. That's what we fought for, and hid for, and worked for.
We have come through it, not without damage, of course, but we are here, now, on the other side, and we can mourn and start to go on.
And know, now more than ever, that we are not alone, any of us.
