Lessons From The Dog Park:
1. Dirt and worms and mud are YUMMY and it is fun to eat them. As many times as possible.
2. Yorkies are something to be terrified of. So are Chihuahuas. And apparently that little Corgi mix.
3. Don't wear white shoes if you don't want them totally ruined.
4. It is apparently acceptable to pull your human into the cars that your doggie friends arrive in so that you can greet them right away.
5. Humans always should bring treats for EVERYBODY. Because you and your friends can tell when they don't have enough and it makes everybody cry.
6. The fountain isn't JUST for dogs to run in. Pull your human too.
7. The crazy lady with the diaper bag full of doggie items really IS as insane as your human said. Her talk about "Benjamin's meat and gluten allergies" proved THAT.
8. Collars are stupid and to be slipped out of at all costs.
9. It's much more fun to chase your friends than anything else.
10. Playing hard makes it so much more worth your nap in the car on the way back home.

...So Monte (Montagnard and if you get that, we should hang) and I are getting along pretty well then, everything considered. The first couple of nights trying to sleep with him in my face took getting used to, cause he takes up A LOT of room. Like a hundred twenty five pounds worth and growing lot of room, and he is gonna have to sleep on his own bed when I have people over, but he's quite the good boy for being so big and I haven't had a lot of trouble managing yet. Even so, I'm gonna have to get him to a class before too long I think. I don't want him getting bad habits and just ruining everything we've managed so far, but at least we're starting out strong, right?

This entire post is just making me glad I only have cats. ...and a horse, but he's more Miguel's than mine. Though I'm sure Miguel's going to end up convincing me to get a dog in the near future. Monte sounds like a very lucky boy, to have a human who cares for him as much as you clearly do.

And if I'm not mistaken, Montagnard has something to do with the French Revolution, doesn't it? Either that or it has something to do with mountains. Or maybe it's both?

Ah but these are the FUN bits of having a dog. Well, if you like mud and wrestling and slobber I guess. Yeah, I can see where cat people would come running. And he kind of knocked a friend over really hard the other day. Horse, really? Okay, I just deal with MY yard when it comes to presents but that's got to be a LOT more involved and disgusting. Is the horse at least cuddly to him to make up for it?

And got it in one! None of the specific figures left over worked for him so Monte it is! My friends have a weird tradition with that.

I do not like mud and slobber and wrestling -- too much mess. I don't think I would enjoy owning a large dog, though I could see myself happily being the "parent" of a couple medium-sized dogs. They're much more manageable. And yes, a horse. We don't actually keep Altivo on our property, Miguel pays to have him put up in a barn near our house, so someone else gets to deal with his mess. He's cuddly to Miguel, but he and I don't actually get along all that well. He bit me, once. I haven't gotten too close to him since.

I'm surprised I remembered that, honestly. I never paid all that much attention in my history classes, since that wasn't what I was in school for.

See there's where we differ cause I live for that sort of thing. Some of the bigger dogs are more mellow if that helps, but yeah, it can be a pain. There IS something to be said for a dog you can pick up and carry away from trouble. Kinda learning that the hard way.

That's probably sanest really. Oh ouch a bite? Sounds like he's got a personality anyway. Altivo... that's one of those words that we don't really have one for in english but sort of roughly translates to 'better than you' I think?

God knows I didn't either. My friends are kind of into the revolution though.

Yeah, mess is not really my thing. My husband's right there with you, though. I'm sure he'd love to have a huge dog to run about with -- but of course, Miguel would love to have any kind of animal.

I believe my exact words were "YOUR HORSE BIT ME ON THE BUTT". Miguel still likes to tell the story to anyone who will listen. And pretty much that, yes -- arrogant would work as well, but it does miss a bit of the intricacies of the word. It suits him, let me tell you.

Oh, are they the ones who call themselves Les Amis?

Yeah, that'd probably be my take on it. I'm one of those thrive on chaos people. Now I'm picturing shoving you at Enjolras. When he's not being insane and from the 19th century (don't even ask, the dreams people mentioned? Half the people I know have gone nuts) he's busy being slightly neurotic and..."detail oriented". Didn't stop him from spending three months living out of a blanket fort but it was a really really well organized blanket fort.

That sounds...yeah, pretty legit I think. I guess if they see enough humans cleaning up after them, they figure they own you.

Oh god of course they've tried to get to you.

He's a very good and patient teacher you know! The worm lesson took a few days but he didn't mind. And even got me burgers on the way home.

I'm quite the animal person, believe it or not. I'll bring along Camille, she doesn't get out much.

Anything special in the way of doggie snacks she'd like? Or human things for you?

I think you know me well enough by now to guess for me. But don't worry about snacks for her, she's picky.... So I'll take care of that.
