Hey, Valarnet.

Coming to my attention that Laika and I aren't the only service members running around the OC area. I've seen a lot of you posting little things about it before, and well, you know how some stuff's only funny to the people who get it, or only makes SENSE in all those circumstances? I'm proposing we use the comments here to introduce ourselves, say hi and who we are, what our favorite booze is, and a good place we might actually meet up, anything else about ourselves that's interesting, stuff like that.

It seems like we'd have a pretty good resource for meetups, navigation tips, the stuff like that. You in? Leave a comment. I'll start with one underneath.

So I'm Clint Barton, formerly of the 75th Ranger Regiment, and spent a lot of time in Iraq until they discharged me a while back. These days, I'm running around as Captain of Archers with the SCA's local baronry and I teach gun safety and some private archery out at Talon Ridge in Trabuco Canyon. I like domestic beers, and I'm engaged to the love of my life who is amazing.

I use an assistance dog now, who was actually a soldier before she got re-trained and I have hearing aids and lip read, and people tell me I'm kind of weird sounding in person but if you're not gonna have a problem with that, I'd kind of love to talk to other people here.

Major Barton. It's been some time.

What happened to your ears?

Not usually a fan of these things, but people tell me I should get off my ass and meet people, so here goes.

Name's John Conley, former Lieutenant of SEAL Team 4, until they asked me to advance to Lieutenant Commander. Told them no, I wanted to work with my team in the field, not oversee.

So I politely 'retired'. I'm a bit older, so it's worth it. Now I spend my time drinking whatever comes out of the tap gold and foamy, and make my way doing odd security jobs around the beautiful valley.

Congrats on your engagement.

Alex Summers, here. Formerly of the Marines Special Operations group, mostly in the middle East. Ended up getting hit by one too many pieces of shrapnel and got a honorable discharge after a desk tour as liaison in Tokyo. I like most beers, really, and hang at the Den most nights I drink.

These days, I'm a firefighter and rescue specialist, here in Orange county.

I'm a Dreamer and I live with my girlfriend, and sometimes bug my brother and his wife.

Roland Deschain. Intelligence Officer and Tactics Specialist in the USMC, First Regiment, stationed in California first, then in Kuwait, Bosnia, and then Iraq. I own a security firm now after being discharged a few years ago for an injury.

I prefer beers mostly, but I've been known to enjoy whiskey from time to time. I smoke non filters, and I'm sure my lady can beat me in a fight.
