As I've lived, religion has become something a lot more private to me than most Catholics think it ought to be. ... Hell, does that make me a Protestant? I don't know. But the point is, I get a lot more out of talking to God when it's just me, than I do from going to Mass and listening to some priest bloviating on about what they think God wants. Don't give up on God, even if you give up on the church.
Find someone you can trust - even if it's God - and tell them what you need to tell them. If you don't burst into flames, then maybe try someone else. I know I'm a stranger, technically, but let's just say I've been in the position of sitting somewhere with a secret that'll break me if I don't get it off my chest.
