RATING: PG-13 for talk of sex

All day Damian had been watching the clock, waiting for the time when he could leave and get back to Alyssa. Ever since that mark had appeared over the house the night before, the last thing Damian had wanted to do was leave her alone, but realistically, he knew that he couldn’t hang around her all day, because she still needed to go to school and honestly the best thing to do was go about their regular routine and not live in fear of it. Of course Damian had a pretty good idea of who had done it, but when he’d tried to text the number that Bellatrix had texted Alyssa from a week earlier, the number was disconnected. So Damian had gone to work and Alyssa had gone to school, but Damian had spent practically all day waiting for the day to be over and had texted her a few times during his break.
Having finally gotten out of work, Damian was on the bus, headed home and gazing out the window at the various stores and buildings along the route to Alyssa’s house when the bus passed a movie theater. He hadn’t been to the movies in so long that he couldn’t even remember the last movie he’d seen. After his mom had gotten sick, Damian had spent as much time as possible with Talia and when he wasn’t with her, he was doing research on his father. So, passing the theater gave him an idea and he pulled his phone out of his pocket, found Alyssa’s number and pressed send. They’d been dating for a few days now, but they hadn’t gone on an actual date yet, so why not now? It was still early enough and he was sure the Alyssa had probably finished her homework by now, so why not go out for a little while? As he gazed out the window, he listened to the ringing on the other end, waiting for her to answer.
She’d been reading for fun on her bed, her homework finished, her chores done. When she heard her phone ring with the custom tone she’d selected for Damian, she rolled over and answered it with a grin. “Hullo?”
“Hey. What’re you doing?” He asked, sitting up a little straighter, in the uncomfortable bus seat when he heard Alyssa’s voice on the other end of the line. It was crazy how just hearing her voice could make him smile and he still couldn’t believe that they were actually dating. She could have had her pick of guys, including Logan and that singer that she was friends with or even Bran, but for one reason or another, she’d chosen him.
“I was just reading a book. Are you coming home soon?” She found that she looked forward to his return whenever he went away, and it made her grin just to talk to him. He never mocked her for her slang being different, and he was gentlemanly in a way that boys her own age had never been. It was enough to give her goosebumps.
Damian nodded, despite the fact that Alyssa couldn’t see him, “Yeah. I’m on the bus now.” Damian had never really been like other boys his age, except during that time when he’d started rebelling as a result of Talia continuously refusing to tell him anything about his father. “I was wondering, if you’d want to go somewhere. Like a date.” Logan had told him that Alyssa needed to be romanced and wooed, which Damian had already known, but he’d appreciated the advice anyway. He still hadn’t told her that he’d run into Logan and was still debating on whether or not he was going to.
“I - “ She’d never been on a date before, and the idea appealed to her. She felt her cheeks go hot, and she nodded emphatically, even though he couldn’t see her. Soon she realized that, and laughed at herself. “Yes. Very much. ... like now?” Alyssa laughed a little. How was it that she was so awkward with Damian?
Damian's smile widened at her response and honestly, the bus couldn’t get to her house fast enough. “Yeah, now. Well, when I get home. I’m probably about twenty minutes away.” Damian had taken the bus to and from work, enough time now that he had a pretty good idea just how far away he was from the house.
“I can drive! Or you can drive my car, whichever.” Alyssa had hopped up off of the bed to flip through the clothes in her closet. She bit her lower lip, trying not to girl out on him over the phone. Girl squeaks tended to be loud and painful in person, but the phone magnified them. “What do you want to do? Dinner?”
“Either one is fine with me.” Alyssa didn’t have to squeak for Damian to know that she was excited. It was clear just by the tone of her voice and that made him smile even more, “Yeah, we can do dinner. Maybe a movie after, if it isn’t too late.” Damian had never been out on a date either, but he was pretty sure that was how you were supposed to do it.
“Dinner first, then we’ll figure it out.” She was grinning and she sounded like it. “Okay, I’m going to hang up now and get pretty for you. See you soon?” Alyssa couldn’t help doing a little jig in her closet.
“Is it possible for you to get prettier?” It was probably cheesy, but he had a feeling that it would make her smile a little more and he liked it when she smiled, “Okay. I’ll be there in a few minutes.” With that, he ended the call and sat back in his seat, still smiling as the bus rolled on towards his stop. Once it reached the bus stop around the corner from the house, Damian practically ran out the door. “I’m home!” Damian called as he entered the house and headed towards his room, which just so happened to be next door to Alyssa’s.
“Just you watch.” Alyssa had never been one to turn down a dare. When he hung up, she set about curling her long red hair, putting on a little bit of makeup, and wiggled into her favorite dress, the one that looked like a 1940s style swing dress in a dark navy blue. It also made her boobs look bigger, but she wasn’t about to tell Damian that. Some heels, and she was ready to go when she heard Damian yell.
With a spritz of perfume, she went out into the hall to greet him. “Hey. You were fast.”
“Thank the bus,” Damian grinned when she saw her, “Wow. You look amazing.” Honestly, how had he gotten so lucky? Not wanting to mess up her hair or makeup, Damian simply gave her a kiss on the cheek, “Give me a minute to change. Of course, I’m not gonna took half as good as you already do.”
She’d only put on lip balm, so she moved his head to kiss him properly. “You already look as good as me, shoo.” Alyssa beamed, moving to sit on his bed in his room, but she closed her eyes so he could change, even going so far as to cover her eyes with her hands. “Hurry up, slowpoke.”
The kiss left Damian’s lips slightly sticky and he licked his lips, smirking, “What flavor is that?” He asked, closing the door as Alyssa sat down on the bed. When Alyssa covered her eyes, Damian started looking through his drawers and eventually found a pair of pants that weren’t jeans, probably the only pair of pants that he owned that weren’t jeans or pajama pants and started changing. “I’m going as fast as I can here.”
“Strawberry,” she replied, trying to ignore how bloody hot it was when he licked his lips that way. Instead she just curled her toes in her heels, swinging her legs a little once she was sitting on the bed. “You didn’t have to change at all, you plonker.”
“If you’re wearing that then I’m not going out in jeans. I’ll look like a slob or something and some guy will probably come up to us and ask you why you’re dating such a bum.” Damian teased, smirking as he took a look in the mirror, contemplating running some gel through it, but instead decided that it looked fine and went over to Alyssa, taking hold of her wrists and pulling her hands away from her face, “Okay, you can look now.”
“And I’ll tell that guy to mind his own damn business.” She grinned behind her hands, but when Damian took her wrists and pulled them down, she stopped. “Oh. ... you um. You look nice.” She smiled, pink cheeked and wobbly legged like a baby deer. Before she’d been so sure of herself; she supposed it was because the reality of her first date had really set in. “Shall we?”
Damian couldn’t help but smile at her reaction and took a step back, still holding her wrists in order to pull her to her feet, “Yeah, lets get this show on the road. Anywhere in particular that you want to eat?” Damian still didn’t really know the area well and Alyssa had lived there a little longer than him, so he hoped that she had an idea of what was around otherwise this was going to be a pretty lame date.
“Um. There’s a burger place a few miles away from here that’s quite good.” She didn’t let go of his hands once they were standing. In fact, Alyssa stood closer to him. “Shakes and burgers sound okay? Maybe after that we can go to the park or something.” Movies seemed like a rubbish date; no talking, no snuggling - how was that a good date?
“Burgers and shakes sound good to me,” Alyssa was close, but not close enough for his liking so he gave a little tug at her wrists to pull her a bit closer and kissed her again then moved his hands so their fingers were laced together and he started to lead her out of the room, “Do you have everything? Your purse and stuff?” He asked as they went out into the hall.
Kissing Damian was a distinctly different thing from kissing Logan. For one, she felt like she could control herself. The heat was still there, but it wasn’t blinding. It was a slower burn, less explosive, less damaging. “Let me grab it quickly,” she beamed, not letting go of his hand, taking him into her room to collect it.
“You can drive the car.” Her mother had given her the Prius; it was just an excuse for her mother to get a new one anyway. “I’ll direct you.”
Damian let Alyssa drag him towards her room then once she had her purse, he led her towards the door, glad that Nancy wasn’t there, because chances were, she’d say something completely inappropriate. Besides, they were keeping their relationship a secret from her for the time being. Damian wouldn't be the least bit surprised if when she did find out, she insisted that they share a room from that point on or something like that. “Was it a big adjustment, driving over here?” He asked as they got outside and headed towards the car.
“A bit. Honestly, it’s kind of a thrill, driving on the wrong side. It’s fun.” She hopped into the passenger’s seat, still amused that there wasn’t a wheel there. “It’s silly how you lot make driving so much harder on yourselves.” Leaning forward, she stole a kiss from him before buckling up.
“I wouldn’t suggest driving on the wrong side of the rode here, because you might wind up getting arrested.” Damian said as he got into the drivers side and began adjusting the mirrors and the seat. He was quite a bit taller than Alyssa, which meant that getting into the car after her came with the possibility of banging his knees into the steering wheel, “And you’re too pretty for jail.” He smirked as he started the car and pulled out of the driveway.
“Ooh, mind your knees.” She winced when he banged them audibly. “And it feels like I’m driving on the wrong side every time I get into the car, silly.” She reached out to put her hand on his knee, not moving it up higher.
“Okay, turn left in three blocks,” she instructed.
“You’ll get used to it.” Damian said as he started down the street, “How long have you been out here again?” He could have sworn that Alyssa had told him before, but he couldn’t remember at the moment.
“Um, two months? Maybe three?” She shook her head. “Not long at all.” He’d arrived shortly after her, and she was glad for it. Secretly, if she was very selfish, she couldn’t imagine her life without him living with her. “Mum’s job transferred her, and I came with her. Part of me had wanted to stay at school. I haven’t lived with her in ages. It’s weird, having a curfew.”
It really was weird how they’d only known each other for such a short time, but they got along so well despite their awkward moments, “You do realize how crazy it sounds that you have a curfew, but your mom encourages you to have sex.” He smirked, glancing at her as they hit a red light.
“Oh, the curfew is nil if I’m spending the night with a bloke she approves of.” Alyssa rolled her eyes, grinning back at him. The red light was a bit long, and she stole a kiss. She nipped her lower lip a bit before sitting back, smoothing out her skirt and trying to look as proper as possible.
That just made him think of the fact that she’d spent time at Logan’s place and had she not kissed him, he was pretty sure he would have fallen into an awkward silence, but Alyssa saved him and probably wasn’t even aware of it, “You know that you’re awful at looking innocent, right?” Damian wasn’t sure what it was about her, but Alyssa and innocent just didn’t seem to work together.
“Aww, really?” Alyssa laughed. “What do I look like, then?” She grinned at him, biting her lower lip and fluttering her eyelashes.
“You look evil.” Damian smirked at her quickly then glanced back at the road, “Which way do I go now?” He asked after taking the left. If they got caught up in talking, he was going to wind up just driving and then they’d probably wind up in San Francisco or something.
“Right at that service station up ahead, then it’ll be on your left. And I do not look evil. I resent the implication,” she beamed. She feigned indignation for a bit before breaking into giggles. “You like it.”
“That right there is you admitting that you’re evil.” Eyes on the road, Damian was still smirking. “Have you always been this evil?” He glanced at her as he pulled into the parking lot then a parking space, “Or is that what they taught you at boarding school?”
“Of course it is. They teach us how to be evil when they hand us a school uniform and kneesocks. Obviously. Then the lesbian orgies happened, and that just cemented it.” She sighed and rolled her eyes indulgently. “You’re lucky I fancy you, you silly person.”
Shaking his head, Damian shoved her playfully, “School uniform, huh?” He smirked and kissed her quickly before getting out of the car and running around to her door, which he opened. “I bet you looked cute in it.”
“I’ve still got a few of them. I wear them to school when I get lazy.” She liked that he kissed her, but when he opened her door for her, she blushed. She couldn’t help but think his mother would be proud of him, and in a moment of spontaneity, she wrapped her arms around him and kissed him firmly.
“Oh really?” Suddenly the mental image of Alyssa in a plaid skirt popped into his head, but he had no time to say anything else, because Alyssa had her arms wrapped around him and was kissing him. Smiling against her lips, his arms slipped around her waist as he kissed her back. He definitely liked this.
She was smiling toward the end of the kiss. He was so much taller than her that she felt badly for his back, but she’d have been lying if she’d said she didn’t like his arms around her. “C’mon, people will start to get jealous,” she murmured. “I’m also starving. I could murder a double cheeseburger.”
Damian didn’t mind having to stoop down a little to kiss her, but it was easier when they were laying down and cuddling. “Good idea,” He laughed and took her hand, leading her into the burger joint and towards a table where a waiter came over to give them menus and take their drink orders.
Alyssa ordered a strawberry shake once they were seated, swinging her legs and grinning as she examined the menu. “I hope you don’t mind that I’m going to eat.” She wasn’t one of those girls that ate like a bird to impress boys; either they liked her or they didn’t, and eating a salad wasn’t going to change that.
“Isn’t that why we came here?” Damian had seen plenty of girls at his old school who barely ate anything during lunch when they were sitting with the football players and Damian was glad that Alyssa wasn’t like those girls, because it meant that they could go and eat or hang out at home and snack while watching tv and he wouldn’t have to feel guilty about eating while she ate nothing to try and impress him.
“Bless,” she grinned. When the waiter came back, she ordered them chili fries to split and a double cheeseburger. Offering him a sip of her strawberry shake before she took a sip, she couldn’t help but smile. “How is it you’ve never had a girlfriend before?”
Damian ordered a bacon cheeseburger and offered Alyssa a sip of his chocolate shake as he tasted her shake. At the question, he shrugged, “I don’t know. I mean there were girls I thought were cute and all, but once my mom got sick I kind of just spent a lot of time with her. I did go to the movies once with this girl cause my friend liked her friend and she wouldn’t go out with him unless he found a date for her friend.”
The chocolate was good, and she sighed. “Right, your mum. I’m sorry, that must’ve taken up so much of your time, and then ... “ She shook her head, knowing there weren’t really words for his pain. “I don’t even remember my father. And Mum’s more like a friend than a mum.”
“I just wound up distancing myself from everyone near the end, because I knew that I wanted to come out here and find my father and figured it would be that much easier if I wasn’t going to miss anyone.” It was a kind of messed up logic, but it had made sense at the time and honestly, Damian didn’t mind that much, “Can I ask what happened to you dad?” He didn’t think that she’d ever mentioned her dad before.
Reaching out, she took his hand and ran her thumb over his knuckles. His question about her dad didn’t bother her in the least, there just wasn’t much to tell. “He left when I was four, Mum said he went to Portugal or something to write a book and just never came back. I used to write him letters once a week, but they always came back return to sender. I just gave up when I started primary school.”
“That sucks.” Damian found it somewhat interesting that they’d both been raised primarily by their mothers; although, in Damian’s case, his grandfather had been there for the first ten years of his life, “I used to get so mad at my mom when I’d ask about my father and she’d change the subject. I mean, it worked when I was younger, but as I got older, I just wanted to know.”
“Mum’s always been too honest with me about Dad. Both extremes are wrong, I feel.” She wrinkled her nose, thinking of all the times she’d asked her mother why her father wouldn’t come home and she’d gotten answers about whatever ‘floozy’ he was seeing at the time. “Boarding school really was the best answer for me. Mum wasn’t really ready to be a mum when she had me.” Nancy still really wasn’t, but Alyssa was old enough where being raised was already done. She didn’t need much anymore.
“I wonder what it would have been like if our mom’s met. They are like so completely different.” Damian couldn’t even imagine what sort of reaction Talia would have had to the way she talked to Alyssa and the things that she gave her.
Alyssa tried not to giggle with her mouth full. “Oh, god, I think Mum would explode your mother’s head. It’d be terrifying for her.” Alyssa was aware that Nancy treated her like a friend instead of a daughter, but after so many years apart, it was fine by Alyssa.
“I think my mother would been utterly scandalized by the porn and other things she gives you.” Damian laughed, just trying to picture the look on his mother’s face at that. “I still can’t figure out how your mother gets away with this stuff when so many other people know.” Wasn’t there some sort of law against minors and porn? The waiter came back then with their burgers and fries.
“Most people would be, to tell the truth.” She gleed at the fries and burgers, clapping her hands and cutting her burger in half. “Ummph,” she moaned, mouth full, eating daintily but enthusiastically.
Damian started eating as well, amused at the way Alyssa was eating, “You’re such a goober.” He said, swallowing some of his shake to wash down the burger, “This isn’t going to turn into that scene from When Harry Met Sally, is it?” He teased, picking up a fry.
“It’s not that good,” she laughed. Dabbing her mouth, she took a fry at the same time he did. “Why, do you want it to?”
“No. I’m pretty sure I’d have to go hide in the bathroom if you did that.” He smirked and continued eating, enjoying being there with Alyssa and just sitting across from her and being silly.
“Yeah, I’d probably fall through the floor.” Alyssa grinned, sipping her shake. “So, I looked some things up about the GED test, thing, if you wanted to take it.” She wanted him to be able to go to uni if he wanted.
Damian hadn’t expected her to do that and was a little surprised, “Really? I’d been meaning to look that up, but I haven’t had a lot of free time since I started working. I mean, most of my free time has been spent with you.” He smirked, because even before they’d started dating, he’d been spending most of his free time with Alyssa, partly because he liked her and partly because he wanted to make sure that she was safe and if he was around then that was the best way to do it.
That made her duck her head and blush. “You don’t have to do that, you know. Not that I’m complaining. I like being with you.” She reached out to take his hand again, squeezing lightly. “I just want you to be able to go to school. If you want.”
Smiling, Damian squeezed her hand back, “So, what did you find out?” He asked as he took a sip of his shake. He wanted to take the GED as soon as he was eligible so that he would be able to move on with that and decide what he actually wanted to do. It wasn’t so much that he didn’t want to go to school right now, but he knew that it wouldn’t be easy to register without a legal guardian.
“That all you really have to do is go take the test. Oh, and Mum’s been thinking of registering as your guardian. And no, that doesn’t make us siblings.” She grinned brightly, reaching out to nick another fry. “So that way you can file as a dependant for uni and get more money.”
Damian hadn’t expected that and it made him smile, “Really? She doesn’t have to do that. I mean, she’s only known me for like a month. I’m just the kid who is using your spare bedroom.” He smirked, bumping the toe of one of his sneakers against Alyssa’s foot, under the table. “Plus, if my father actually believes me and doesn’t think I’m just some crazy kid, then technically he’ll be my legal guardian, right?
“If he wants to be, yeah.” Alyssa hadn’t realized she’d be upset by the notion of Damian moving out. She hoped he’d still like her once there was distance between them, and she took a large bite of hamburger to avoid talking about it.
Damian hadn’t actually given any thought to what would happen after he met his father and figured he’d decide what he was going to do when the time came, “I’ll have to look into the GED a little more when I have some free time.” He took another bite of his burger before speaking again, “So, you were okay today? Nothing happened?” He was obviously referring to the mark that had appeared over the house the night before.
Alyssa nodded. “She won’t admit it was her, but I know it was. But I didn’t see her around, and I took different ways home than I usually do.” She’d also taken to carrying her bow everywhere with her. It helped that her bow only looked like a rather ornate water bottle when she wasn’t ready to use it.
“If she knows what’s good for her, she won’t try anything more than that.” Damian didn’t know what he’d actually do if Bellatrix tried anything, but he knew that he wouldn’t just sit back and let her do something to Alyssa, “It’s clear that she’s insane.”
“I told her if she touches me, I’ll kill her.” Alyssa’s tone dropped. “I will, too.” She narrowed her eyes, then shook her head. “I’m not going to let her have this night. It’s my first date, I’d like to have this be a good memory.”
Damian nodded and squeezed her hand then stood as best he could in the booth and leaned over to kiss Alyssa. When he sat back, he smiled at her then finished off his shake, “Are you almost done? It’s still early, we could go take a walk in the park,” As long as they were together, he thought it would be safe.
Her eyes closed when he kissed her, and they stayed closed after he sat back. “I’d like that. Very much.” She grinned at him, liking how gentlemanly he was. “Your mum,” she murmured. “I wish she knew how wonderful you are right now. She’d be well pleased. You’re ... “ She shook her head. “I've never known a boy so caring.”
Damian smiled when she mentioned Talia, “Yeah, I think she would be proud of me,” He wished that Talia and Alyssa could have met, “Lets get the check and then we can get out of here.” Damian glanced around for their waiter and upon catching his attention, he asked for the check. After leaving a couple bills on the table, he got up and held his hand out for Alyssa, “Shall we?”
“I could’ve helped you pay,” she smiled, glad she hadn’t overstepped with mentioning his mother. Taking his hand, she walked with him out of the restaurant, back toward the car. Before they could climb in, she pulled him closer, tiptoeing up so she could kiss him. “You know, this is the best first date I could’ve asked for. Thank you.”
“You can pay next time,” Damian smirked as they went out to the car. “I’m glad. I would have hated it if you’d had a bad time.” Still smiling, he kissed her back then after a moment or two, pulled away and unlocked her door, opening it for her.
“Hee, you want there to be a next time.” She was excited as she hopped back into the car, toeing off her shoes for the ride to the park. Heels were cute, but they hurt. “Admit it. You thought I was cute when you first saw me.”
“Of course I want there to be a next time. I mean, we are dating, right?” Damian smirked over at her as he started the car then headed towards the park close to Alyssa’s house where she’d been attacked and where he’d met up with Bran, “And yes, I did think you were cute. What did you think of me when you first saw me?” Damian knew that he’d been a little standoffish when they’d first met, but considering everything he’d gone through recently, who could blame him?
“I thought you were gorgeous. The tall dark and handsome loner with a secret sort.” She laughed a little, leaning back in her seat. “And I know, just ... I’m not used to dating someone. You’re kind of my first boyfriend.” It wasn’t like she’d exactly gone on dates with Logan.
Damian smiled at her description of him, “Well, I’m glad my lonerness didn’t scare you off.” As far as Damian was concerned, there were going to be plenty more dates in the future, even if he was also new to this whole dating thing. It didn’t take long to reach the park and soon they were walking down one of the paths, hand in hand, “I’m still having a hard time believing it’s February. I’d be wearing a jacket and scarf if I were back in Chicago right now.”
“Oh, it’d be properly murky back home too. It’d smell like the ocean a bit, just because of where I went to school.” She leaned against him, squeezing his hand. “The weather here is just nutty, and not in a good way.” She looked up at him. “Your lonerness was one of the first things I really fancied about you, you know. You’re strong, you do what you need to and you do what you think is right. No matter what.”
Damian shrugged, “I’m just doing what I have to do. I had no more family back home and I wasn’t going to wait around for child services or whatever it is, to come to me,” Shortly after Talia died, Damian had dropped out of school since he had already made the decision that he was going to move out to California to find his father, but he didn’t know if there was actually anyone out there looking for him from DSS or anything like that. “Once I’m able to get my GED things will be a little easier.”
“Don’t you see that so many people our age, in your position, would have just cried and not done anything?” Alyssa stopped walking for a moment to look up at him. “You think you’re doing what you have to do, but that’s its own strength, Damian.” Holding his hand, she shook her head. “You’re wonderful. I’m right impressed by you, so you’ll just have to deal with that.”
Hearing Alyssa say that meant more to Damian than he could ever express, so instead of saying anything, he simply leaned down and kissed her. When he ended the kiss, he smiled down at her, “Thanks. That means a lot.” He gave her hand a squeeze then continued on walking. As they walked, his encounter with Logan came back to him and he decided that she should know about it, “So, I ran into Logan the yesterday.”
The kiss was one of those kneewobbling things, and she found herself holding onto him after it was done. “Oh,” she murmured, smiling to herself, grinning up at him. When they started to walk again, she was still beaming. Only the mention of Logan made her stop. “Oh, bloody hell. Was he good? If he wasn’t, I’m going to beat him up.”
Considering where they’d met and what had happened, he wasn’t exactly sure how to answer that one, “Well...he made me buy condoms.” Damian glanced over at her as he spoke, wanting to see her reaction, “I was walking through that aisle when we ran into each other.”
Alyssa snorted. “Oh, he believes in contraception now?”
Alyssa’s response made Damian pause for a moment and glance over at her, “Wait, are you saying you didn’t use condoms with him?” It was a strange conversation to be having with one’s girlfriend, but since Alyssa had told him about Logan a few weeks earlier, the last thing he’d thought about was whether or not they’d used protection. Until now that is.
She nodded. “I’ve gotten my period since, and I already have an appointment to get tested. It wasn’t -” She sighed, scrubbing her hands over her face. “It wasn’t like I thought I’d shag him. For a while, he was just the really nice bloke that Mum kept raving about when I was a kid. I thought he was handsome, sure, but kind of in the way that people have crushes on their instructors at school. You don’t really think anything will happen.”
The fact that she already had an appointment to get tested and had, had her period made Damian feel a little better. Hearing that their girlfriend had their period was probably the last thing most guys wanted to hear, but in this case, Damian didn’t mind, “Did you...was it more than once?” This wasn’t exactly the ideal way to spend their date, but now that it had come up, Damian figured it was better to get it out in the open and out of the way now so that he wasn’t dwelling on it.
Alyssa nodded. She thought about it. “I think five. It depends on what you consider ... do you really want to know all of this? If it makes you feel better, I’ll tell you everything.” Taking his hand, she lifted it up to her knuckles. “I don’t want there to be secrets. I want you to trust me.”
Damian thought about it for a moment or two. That was another thing that most guys wouldn’t want to know about their girlfriends and another guy, but considering how much more experienced Alyssa was, it made him morbidly curious, “Would it be weird if I wanted to know?”
“Not really, I suppose.” She bit her lower lip. “I just don’t want to scare you. Or hurt you.”
Damian shook his head, “You won’t hurt me. I mean, it happened before us.” And he didn’t think it would scare him away, but at least he’d know just how much more Alyssa knew than him. “Wanna sit down?”
“Sure.” She found a bench and plopped down, toeing off her heels and sighing. “Mmph. They make the legs look good, but owww.” She smiled at him, sitting up a little and trying to focus on the fact that he liked her. “So. Ask away.”
“Yeah, they do,” Damian smirked a little as he sat down next to Alyssa and took her hand, lacing their fingers together, “Um...you said, it depends on what you think of as sex. What did you mean?” He had an idea, but he wanted to make sure that he was on the same page as her.
She leaned against him. “Mouth... stuff?”
“Right. So, you did that?” Damian asked, running his free hand through his hair. It was hard to think of Alyssa doing that to Logan, but mostly because if they ever got to the point, he was afraid that she would be disappointed, because he’d seen Logan and even though he was taller than the older man, Logan was pretty big and chances were he was bigger than Damian.
She nodded. “A little. I did him once, and he did me once. Mostly it was just ... regular sex.” Her cheeks were blazing red, and she was glad that they were outside in dimly lit surroundings. “I wanted to at least ... try, you know? Find out what I like, so I’m not terrible when I find someone. That was my justification.” And now that she had, she was actually glad she’d been with Logan. She would actually have an idea of what she was doing with Damian.
Damian nodded and squeezed her hand, “When you say regular sex, you mean just regular sex, right?” He didn’t want to think about Logan doing anything to Alyssa that they did in any of those hardcore pornos. He was already jealous enough as it was.
Another nod. “I’m saving that for the right person.” She smiled shyly up at him, leaning against him. “God, I hope we’re talking about the same thing.”
“I do too.” Damian chuckled, feeling a little relieved. It was pretty ridiculous that neither of them could actually say it, but he didn’t so much think that, that was any indication that they weren’t ready to do certain things, but that it was an awkward conversation all around.
She took a deep breath. “I just didn’t want to meet an amazing bloke and have him have been with a bunch of other girls and have myself be naive and ... I don’t know, hormones?” She laughed, curling her legs underneath herself. “I just know I don’t regret it.”
“I can understand that.” Damian wrapped his arm around her shoulder and pulled her even closer, “And even though I’m a little...okay, a lot jealous...at least one of us will know what we’re doing when the time comes.”
“I adore Logan. But I don’t know in what way. I think it’s a big brother way, or a mentor way - and I know not getting hung up on him and following him like a puppy was the best decision. If I didn’t have you, I’d be more upset than I was when I told Logan we had to stop shagging. I hope you understand why.” She looked up at him, kissing his jaw. “No need to be jealous. If I had to pick someone to do those things with again, it’d be you.”
Damian smiled when she kissed his jaw “I’m glad to hear that. And I know this was really awkward, but you understand why I asked, right?” He glanced over at her, happy that they already had such an open and honest relationship and it had only been a couple of days.
“I do. And I’m glad I told you. It was a load off. Secrets are a bad thing, and I’m glad we don’t have any. I’m not saying we should tell every detail, but you know the important bits.” Her small, graceful fingers ran through his hair. “I just knew when we were on the couch and I was tickling you. I just knew that it was this moment I had to take because Logan was a silly schoolgirl crush that would destroy me, and Bran and I are meant to be friends. But you.” She smiled brightly. “You’re just wonderful.”
Damian’s smile widened as Alyssa spoke and his only response was to lean down and press a kiss against her lips, “Well, I’m glad you’re impulsive and kissed me and tried a second time after I got all weird.” He really was glad that Alyssa had offered him a place to live, because otherwise they might not have met, “Wanna head home and watch a movie?”
She nodded. “Of course I kissed you again. I figured I’d just terrified you the first time, so doing it again was the only true test.” She liked that he’d warmed up to the idea and now kissed her more often than not exactly when she wanted him too. Hopping up, she took his hand and tugged. “Something with explosions, please.”
Still smiling Damian pressed a kiss to Alyssa’s cheek just before she jumped up. “Ok, but I think you need these.” He reached down with his free hand to grab Alyssa’s shoes and then let her pull him up. “Explosions it is.”
Toeing on her heels, she laughed a little, wrapping her arms around him. “Thank you for not slapping me when I get fresh with you. It’s very gentlemanly.”
Damian laughed and took her hand in his, “I’d never slap you. If you get too fresh, I’ll just douse you in cold water.” He was glad that the conversation hadn’t made their date too awkward and he was looking forward to going home and just watching a movie with Alyssa to end the night.
