Who: Arya Stark and Gendry Waters
What: Arya has been told to stay in, but does she listen?
When: Sunday, February 24th. Early Afternoon
Where: A park in Laguna Beach
Rating: Low to start, but the OC is pretty crazy at the moment.
Status: Complete

To say that Catelyn had been upset that Arya had not only gone out during this craziness, but that she'd also gone to a Hookah Shop, was an understatement. Of course, Arya thought that the look on her mother's face when she'd gotten home the other night had been extremely amusing. So the fact that Arya was currently out again was not going to make make Catelyn any happier when she found out. As far as Arya was concerned, her car hadn't turned into a giant mushroom or anything weird, so she was perfectly safe as long as she stayed inside it, because honestly, this was all far too cool to pass up exploring.

As she drove around town, she saw the most interesting things; giant playing cards wearing police hats and eating donuts in a police cruiser near the library, which now looked like it was made of candy or something and then there were the giant mushrooms all over the place. The plan to stay in the car changed when she drove by the park and noticed the two giant roses outside the gate, which was now quite elaborate. Being the curious person that she was, Arya pulled over and got out of the car to get a better look at the flowers. As she got closer, she noticed they had faces. "Holy shit."

"Now is that any way for a lady to speak?" For a moment Arya had thought she was hearing things, but then she realized that it had been one of the flowers that had spoken to her.

She stared at it for a moment or two, too stunned to speak when the other flower spoke, "She's rather rude too. Not answering when asked a question."

If it was possible, talking flowers trumped every other crazy thing going on at the moment.

Oh, you had to be shitting.

Never mind that the OC had talking flowers and ships that broke into musicals, or that Gendry had made the stupid decision to cut through the park on his way home from buying toothpaste. Incidentally, the toothpaste did not talk or sing, a little detail Gendry was grateful for. As of right now, his truck was refusing to actually drive him anywhere, so his trip to the corner shop had been on foot.

None of that compared to when he saw and heard what he knew to be Arya. Of course, he heard her before he saw her, and even though the voice had matured, the cadence was exact. Gendry turned toward the source of the babbling roses and the girl. She'd grown. Oh...she'd grown. Gendy didn't just stare, though. He moved toward the roses and spoke to them. Oh, god, he was talking to roses.

"Go pollinate yourselves," he said. The flowers issued a gasp.

Arya couldn't help but laugh at how offended the roses were and as they spoke amongst themselves about how rude children today were, she turned to the newcomer and couldn't help but stare for a brief moment. It was clear that he was older than her, but she didn't think by much. He certainly didn't give off that high school vibe, but he also didn't give off the middle-aged creep vibe either. "I could have handled them. You know, once I stopped being completely shocked that talking flowers are apparently a thing now." She glanced back at the roses and made a face at them.

"No manners at all." The first rose said.

The roses were absolutely scandalized. Gendry could have laughed, it was funny enough, but he was sure he'd gone round the bend and he wasn't too keen on the idea, especially because he was either taking everyone else with him or everyone else was taking him with them.

When they were clear of the roses and the garden where bread butterflies kissed tulips, Gendry looked down at the bag in his hand that held the toothbrush, but he was pleased to see the toothbrush was still there. He looked back at the girl and felt lightheaded. It was her. No one else would have told him they would handle the flowers.

"You were doing a fine job, Arya," he said dryly.

When he said her name, Arya's brows rose, but she didn't make a move to leave. Anyone else probably would have backed away by now, if a stranger called them by name, but not Arya. No, she was more interested in how he knew her than anything else. "How do you know my name?" It was possible that he was on Valarnet, but since getting back on it, she hadn't really talked to many people and she was pretty sure that he wasn't one of them. So that meant that he either recognized her from one of the many sports she played at school that had been written about in the paper or he was a stalker. She didn't think he was a stalker though, because of the lack of creep vibe she'd gotten from him when he'd first shown up a moment ago.

Bollocks.

Gendry ran the back of his wrist over his lips as he tried to come up with something quick and believable that wouldn't make him seem like a madman who was stalking her. She was closer to his age now, and she was beautiful, like Sansa, if not moreso. No one would mistake her for a boy now.

"The net," he answered at length.

That was one theory confirmed. She did know that while she might not have talked to him, he could have seen her post and she wouldn't even have known it, so it did make sense. "Alright. So, who are you then? I mean, it's only fair that you tell me your name sine you know mine."

She smirked up at him, crossing her arms over her chest. It wasn't like her to fancy random strangers, or any guys for that matter, because the boys she went to school with her far too immature, but she couldn't help but find this guy extremely good looking. That was certainly a first.

Gendry looked around for an out. Arya didn't know him and he wasn't sure he wanted her to, although tentatively dating Sansa might get in the way of that. "Gendry," he answered and said nothing more. He almost smiled at her look, it was very reminiscent of the Arya who'd looked at him the same dubious way before.

"Do I make you nervous, Gendry?" He seemed somewhat nervous around her, which made no sense at all. They had never met each other before, so she knew she hadn't done anything to warrant him being nervous, but it was pretty hard to miss. She knew that she had intimidated members of various teams she'd played against, but those were teenage girls not a guy who looked like nothing could scare him. It was all very curious.

"No," Gendry grumbled. It wasn't her that made him nervous, it was that she wasn't who Gendry knew. She didn't know him either and that was almost painful. It shouldn't have been, but it irked him that she hadn't even known his name.

Arya frowned, "I'm really confused then, cause you came up to me and now you're acting like I'm bothering you." She felt like there was a reason that he was acting this way; a reason that she should have known, but didn't. It was bizarre. Almost more bizarre than those talking roses and cop playing cards.

She had a point. Arya always had a point, even when she'd been young and skinny like a twig. Gendry scowled. He didn't know how he was acting like she was bothering him. "I'll be on my way, then," he said, more out spite and annoyance that she didn't remember him, as if it was her fault. It wasn't, of course, it was just the fault of the OC or the cosmos, or something else.

With that, Gendry went past her, toward the garage loft on the side of a building that yawned at him as if it were bored with his very presence inside of it. Gendry hoped that he wouldn't have to argue with his own door to get inside.

Now that just wasn't going to cut it as far as Arya was concerned. Most people, when getting the brush off like this would probably just give up, but Arya Stark was not most people and had been called stubborn on more than one occasion, "Hey! You're not leaving that easily." She followed him, easily able to keep up, considering all the years of sports she'd played. "You don't get to act like we're friends then just blow me off." Seriously, who did he think he was?

Double bollocks.

She was like a puppy, that hadn't changed. In fact, he should have expected her to follow him, she always had in the dreams. For a moment, she seemed all of a little girl again, so much that it almost made Gendry laugh. He managed not to only by a small margin.

He stopped a few yards from his place and looked at Arya with her with her defiant little expression. "How did I act like we're friends?" he asked. It was easier. She didn't know who he was. What was he supposed to say? That he dreamed about her being a small skinny little girl who followed him around just like this?

Seriously, this guy was extremely confusing, "You came up to me and called me by my name. Sure, you may have seen me on the net, but do you always go up to the people you see there and call them by name and then get all huffy and offended when they actually talk to you?" She crossed her arms over her chest and quirked a brow at him as she waited for an answer. He might have been extremely good looking, but he was also extremely infuriating.

"You acted offended that I was talking to you," Gendry pointed out. He didn't answer her directly and continued, saying the only thing that came to mind. "I know you from the net, and I took your sister out. You looked like you needed help with the rose, that's all."

"I wasn't offended that you were talking to me. I didn't realize that asking how you knew my name meant that I was offended. You're the one who got upset that I asked." Arya's brow furrowed as Gendry mentioned Sansa; of course he'd taken Sansa out. He was good looking and Sansa was beautiful, so it shouldn't have come as any surprise and it certainly shouldn't have hurt, but for some unknown reason, it did. "But if I'm bothering you so much then I'll let you go."

"Fine," Gendry said, shrugging as if none of this troubled him in the slightest. It did. He didn't want to hurt Arya, and he knew that he would, but if she didn't recognize him, he would seem mad or maybe he already did.

"You're the one who followed me, though," he said. He nodded toward the park. "Are you going to back through there to get home?"

Seriously, what was up with this guy? First he acted like a jerk and then he was concerned about how she was getting back to her car? She just didn't get it, "Well, I have to go that way to get back to my car, so yeah." She should have turned and walked away then, but instead she continued standing there, practically staring Gendry down, "Why, are you afraid that the evil flowers are gonna get me?"

"Maybe," Gendry answered honestly. "You're allowed to have someone worry for you, Arya." It was just like her not to want that, though. He said it as if they were back in his dreams and she had just come off the cart.

An absurd urge to move hair from her brow passed Gendry's mind. He nodded toward the park. "If I hear you scream, I'll know you need help. If not, I'll go inside. Deal?"

Arya narrowed her eyes at him again, completely at a loss as to what to think of him. He was incredibly infuriating, but also extremely good looking and then there was the fact that he apparently cared if she got attacked by giant flowers after he'd tried to blow her off, "You're kind of crazy, you know that?" She stood there for another moment before dropping her arms to her side, "Fine."

She was confused, Gendry knew that face. He wanted to explain it all to her to eliminate her confusion, but he kept stopping himself. Instead, he only gestured in the direction they'd come from. "I'm sure I'll see you around," was all he could say.

"Yeah. See you around." With that, Arya finally turned around and headed back in the direction they'd come. As she walked back towards where she'd left her car, she was tempted to text Sansa and ask her about Gendry, but she decided against that and instead continued on to the car, glancing over her shoulder only once as she passed the giant flowers to see if she could still see Gendry then pulled out her keys and after unlocking the car, got in.
