When: Directly after this log.

Rating: PG-13
Status: In progress
Pepper had opted to ride with Tony in the ambulance even though she was still totally freaked out by what had just happened. Two EMTs tended to Tony while another tried to calm Pepper down without much luck until they gave her a valium to take. She held Tony's hand for the whole ride though and even followed along with the gurney until he disappeared into a section of the hospital that she wasn't allowed to follow.
The next couple of hours the police descended down upon Pepper asking her all sorts of questions she didn't really want to deal with at that particular moment. How do you know Tony Stark? What were you doing out so late? Did you get a good look at the man with the gun? Did he say anything that might give us any kind of indication of who he is or who he was working for? Pepper really wasn't much help. She was too distracted to answer them very well so eventually they left their card with her and left her alone.
She had no idea what was going on in surgery and she had no idea if Tony was going to live or die. She felt so guilty for arguing with Tony only moments before when he was being nothing but sweet to her. Why was she being such a cold-hearted bitch to a man who clearly only wanted her companionship? These questions haunted Pepper as she curled up in a chair in the waiting room. She was feeling drowsy herself from the valium and it wasn't long before she drifted off to sleep.
The dream she had seemed so familiar like she had seen it before, like it was something she had lived through. She didn't want to help Tony with the damn reactor in his chest, but there was no one else and Pepper knew it. She never did very well in situations like those and she nearly killed her boss. Boss? Yes, she was his assistant and she had very conflicted feelings for him, but she certainly didn't want to see him die.
