There was no doubt about it that she was a bit loopy. But it was all in a proper fun and a little whimsical with a side of naivety sort of way. She wasn't really stupid by any means. Just... not really the type to know to how to focus.

She stole one of his chips, because clearly they were friends now, and it was okay. "Why?" she asked, raising her eyebrows up high.

	Deryn leaned forward, resting her chin in the palms of her hands. She seemed genuinely interested in what he had to say. "I see," she said, sounding sympathetic. Deryn leaned back in her seat, tilting her head to the side to consider his words. In fact, she put on her serious face for him. Just for a moment, though.

"It's okay," she said after a moment. "Those things happen sometimes. We can't always control who we fall in love with, even if it hurts someone else."

Occasionally, she gave these stunning bits of advice, which seemed to come out of left field. A lot of people thought Deryn kind of stupid -- but she wasn't. She just was fairly simple about things, and often very happy. And clumsy.
