Alex smiled as he opened the door for Lorna, bouncing on his feet. “Here we are, one roller rink, as ordered.” He smirked at her. She looked hot, and he, well, he was dressed in tight jeans, a shirt that flattered him, and a small jacket. He knew he looked good.
“I think this is going to be fun.” It had been a long week, and a crazy one, and he truly hoped tonight would be a fun night. They both deserved it.
Lorna was wearing a short skirt and a tank top under her brown jacket. She knew she’d get hot while skating, and it made her boobs look fantastic. Her hair was tied up with a neon pink bow, which only made her hair look even cooler. It had grown on her since that first night, even if it was still strange. The green didn’t go with her skin color very well. “I think so too.”
She smiled at Alex, and bounced over to the skate rental booth.
He followed along, grinning. Her hair was awesome. He liked it, a lot. But he just followed on. “Done this much?” He was curious as he paid for shoes and started lacing them up.
“Skating? No, not really.” She grabbed her skates and put them on. “I dance a lot more than I skate. But I used to be okay at it.”
Alex grinned as he nodded, finishing, and rose. “Hopefully I won’t fall on my ass too much. I want to be nimble for later!” He grinned at her.
“Well, if your butt is too sore, I’ll still make sure you have a fun night.” She winked at him, and headed out to the rink. She stumbled a little at first, but everything smoothed out in the end. Rollerskating wasn’t that hard.
He chuckled and laughed as he moved with her. His skills at it came back, and with new skills he began really having fun, almost dancing on the rink. He followed Lorna and danced with her a little, hugging and poking her and even stealing a kiss once.
And when he was tired, he led the way to the side, to sit and order drinks.
“Wow!”
Lorna was having fun, too. Her hips were sore, and she'd stumbled a few times, but it was good to be out doing fun things. She sat gratefully, fanning herself.
Alex smiled and snuggled close, just resting, then flopped on the bench behind her, Too hot for snuggling at the moment. “Hey you. We could have a burger here, if you like? I’m not sure I can do any more skating.” He chuckled.
“Food is good. I’ll just take a kid’s burger, I’m only a little hungry.” She was still having a hard time getting her appetite going. It still took half a bowl to get her to eat anything bigger than a sandwich.
“Understood. When i can get up again, I will.” He chuckled and undid his laces, and just sat, shoulder to shoulder with her. “Thanks for coming out here with me today.”
She smiled at him. “I needed a break, and I like hanging out with you.” She bumped his shoulder lightly. “I talked to Scott a couple days ago.”
“Anytime you need one, I’m here.” He bumped back against her, lightly. “Oh yeah? How is the boyscout?”
“He got out of the hospital a couple days ago. Has a girlfriend, isn’t a big jerk. It was kind of nice, actually.” She leaned back against the back of the bench. “I’ve been working on the ranch all week.”
Alex smiled at her. “Yeah? Good. Nice to know.” He chuckled at her words, then smiled softly. “How is it going?” One hand gently rubbed her shoulder.
“Things are getting back in order slowly. Hopefully nothing else will happen for a little bit. The kids were pretty shaken, but apparently things have been pretty crazy at the ranch since almost the beginning.”
“OH yeah? Sounds like the dream school, huh?” He shook his head. Not a surprising thing. That sort of school or place seemed to somehow attract weirdness.
“It is, in a couple ways. He apparently helps people out when their own lives get. . .” she paused, looking for the right word, “interesting.” She twirled a small section of her hair around her finger, to indicate what she meant. “But it’s not like how we dreamed, everyone has their own lives, they just go in, learn what they need to, and leave.”
He chuckled, and nodded. “Makes sense. There does need to be a place like that.” Then he grinned “Good. No Charlie’s Angel’s huh?”
“I doubt there’s as much skintight spandex going on, too, speaking of that.” She giggled a little.
“A shame. Man, those were some scary but awesome costumes.” He laughed. “I wish I could have something other than a black suit. Bleh.”
Lorna snorted. “You’d look terrible in mine.”
Alex laughed. “True. Never had the legs for it. Hell, never had the legs for mine.” He snorted./
“I disagree. I like your legs. And your low back. And the kind of,” she made a shape resembling the curves of hips, “area where they meet.”
Alex snerked. “Ten points for the reference,. and thanks. I’m partial to that area on you, too.” He winked at her and blew a kiss.
“MY warrior woman.”
“Pfffft. Only if the enemy is cookies.” She shook her head. “I’m as far from being a fighter as you can get.”
“Some fights are won by force of arms.”: He smiled softly. “Some are won by spirit.”
Lorna looked down at her hands. She didn’t feel like she had much in the way of spirit right then. “I’m going to use the bathroom, I’ll be right back.” She unlaced her skates and stepped out of them, moving carefully in her bare feet to the bathroom.
He winced and sighed as she went. Damn. Misspoke. He just wanted to make her smile and sometimes he sucked at it.
He finished unlacing, hmming and peering at the area.
Lorna was in the bathroom for a while, and when she came back her face was still red and a little puffy, She felt as though she’d been wrung out, and she couldn’t help but look upset. She hated being so sad, but she couldn’t help it, either. It was really wearing her down. “Sorry about that. Food, right?” Maybe a burger would help.
He moved and just hugged her close. “Hey you. Food, yes. Come on.” He had returned the shoes and grabbed theirs, so he handed her hers as they walked the short distance to the food court. “Here or Burger King?” He wanted to make sure she got something she liked.
She hugged him back, squeezing him tight for a moment. “Wherever. I don’t care.” She took a deep breath, trying to improve her mood.
Alex smiled and led the way out to his car. “Come on you. Whoppers await.”
Lorna followed, not sure if she should keep the date going or not. She’d already messed it up by being mopey, could the date be saved at all?
He managed to pull her along to the car. “C’mon you.” he gently kissed her cheek. “How do you feel about a hot tub and a neck and head massage, then snuggling?”
Meh. “I should just go home. I’m just not up for this right now. I have to leave tomorrow to make my dad’s funeral, and all I want to do is curl up and sleep, now.” Well, she actually kind of wanted to drown herself, but that didn’t make good conversation.
Alex nodded. “I’ll be by to pick you up as agreed.” He hoped she remembered that she wasn’t going alone.
He and Big Mac and he was pretty sure, Thor, would all be there.
Lorna nodded. “I know. I’m all packed up.” She tried to look cheerful again, but it was getting harder. Maybe she’d swing by the ranch after all and help out.
he headed toward her place, understanding that sometimes, there just wasn’t a good answer. “I wish I knew how to help. I hope you feel better.” It sounded lame.
“Me too.” She said, wishing she could get her act together. “Sorry I ruined this. It was our first date and everything.”
“Hey. Bad timing is all. I’ll just ask for a rain check, someday, when life isn’t kicking your ass.” He gently reached over to touch her leg, a pat, not a caress.
“It’s going to be okay. “
Lorna nodded. "I'm barely sleeping, and that makes it all harder. Hopefully the funerals will help." She leaned her head back, closing her eyes.
Alex nodded. He hoped so too. She needed closure, it was obvious, even to him. And he hoped that this would let her move forward. This sadness was really hitting her hard. She seemed less vital, less herself, and it made him sad in a way he did not know how to cure. And that made him angry. He drove carefully, but quickly, toward her house.
Lorna peered out the window. “We were gonna get food, right?” She was a little hungry, now. The sadness moved in waves. Now it wasn’t so bad, and she would probably feel almost fine by the time they got to the orchard. “Do you want to come in for tea when we get to the orchard?”
“There’s a fast food joint near the house, just around the corner past it. I figured I’d zip past there. They have big old style hamburgers you can cut up and eat portions of.” He nodded softly, and nudged her a little.
“I’d like that. Haven’t had a good cup of tea in weeks.”
“My tea is pretty good.” Lorna gave him a soft smile. “And I do like to be around you. I think it all just catches up with me, sometimes, and I don’t always feel like I can deal with it. Also, that place is the best burger in town, bar none. Have you eaten there?”
Alex smiled at her, nodding. “I’d like to sample your teas.” He grinned. “And it’s okay, Lorna. You know, there is no shame from feeling what you feel. I had a lot of fellow soldiers who had to deal with things like this.”
He chuckled. “Yeah. The chili cheese burger is the best.”
“If you ask, they’ll put the chili on the fries, instead.” Oh, so good. She smiled. “I think I’d like that, instead of a burger, actually. And I know it’s okay to feel like crap, but that doesn’t mean I like it.”
“Hmmm, sounds good. Might have a plain burger plus that. I’m pretty hungry.” He grinned at her lightly.
“No. And I am sorry you are feeling that way.”
“I’ll be okay. I don’t really do mopey really well.” She gave him a smile. “I think you’ll like Big Mac, he’s good people.”
Alex smiled. “Good. I’ll be happy to meet anyone who’s your friend. He sounds like a good guy.” He nodded. He passed her house and the orchard, heading for the burger joint.
Lorna nodded. “I owe him a lot. He’s been my lifesaver.” She adored Big Mac.
“We’ll get him a burger then, too.” He grinned as they pulled to the ordering thing for the restaurant. He ordered two chili burgers, and two sets of chili fries. And sodas, just because.
Lorna was back to her normal self by the time they got back to the orchard with food. Though she hated swinging between moods, she was grateful not to be depressed all the time. She led the way in, the door opening before them. “I’ll take Mac his food, make yourself at home.”
Alex smiled and rose out of the truck, smiling as he followed her, then nodded. Her casualness with her powers, this new thing, made him shiver. He still had no glimpse of his own and he was worried if he ever did.
He settled to a sofa, and sipped his drink, then glanced around, curious.
It was easier opening the door with her powers than her hands full of food. She went through the house and out to the back. “Mac! We brought you food!”
Alex was chuckling as he heard her and went to get himself a glass of water, hoping it would be okay. He sipped it as he sat again.
Big Mac was with Tonks in the orchard, the two having had a picnic, and now quite intensely not. He was moving in her, thrusting, eyes on hers as their lips met, fucking her with long slow groans. His world was filled with her and only her, and he shuddered as they moved together.
When he heard Lorna’s voice, he stilled, and groaned. “Now?” He and Tonks were in the middle of the main clearing, and plainly visible in the moonlight.
Tonks was very much in the moment, she gasped at every thrust Big Mac made and kissed him hungrily. She honestly didn’t think she’d ever get enough of him as they moved together in a rhythm they always seemed to find effortlessly.
It took her a moment to realize why he’d stopped, “Oh god” she said as she realized there was no way Lorna wouldn’t see them.
Lorna knew that the clearing in the back was the best place to find him if he wasn’t actively working, so that’s where she went. She stopped when she realized what was happening, and blinked. She was still far enough away that she couldn’t see in detail, but it was pretty obvious what she’d done. “Sorry!” She yelled, and turned, jogging back to the house. Big Mac could eat later.
Big Mac laughed, and then chuckled as he looked down at Tonks. “Huhn. Well, that was weird.” And he thrust into her again. “Amazing woman.” Stop sex, when he didn’t have to? Nope.
Tonks couldn’t stop the laughter as Mac looked down at her, that was definitely an experience. Her laughter turned to a moan as he thrust into her again, it would definitely take more than a momentary interruption to dampen their ardour and she moved with him once again.
Lorna slipped back into the house, laughing a little. “Mac’s not hungry. I’m going to store his stuff, then we can eat.”
Big Mac grinned dismissed the interruption from his mind. He’d tease Lorna about it later.
Alex, meanwhile, rose and chuckled. “Okay. I hope you are having fun.” He grinned.
Lorna snorted. “Not as much fun as Mac.” She showed him to the kitchen table and put the bag with Mac’s burger in the fridge. “The orchard’s seeing a lot of action these days.”
Alex raised an eyebrow, then laughed. “Aha! Good for him! Is he having some fun out in the orchard?”
He sat again and chuckled. “And you, too, huh?”
Lorna actually blushed at his second question. “It’s been an interesting week.” She didn’t mind telling him, so she sat down with her fries and launched into a complete detail of her week. First, her trippy seduction of Gandalf, and then her hair dying adventure with Jubilee, and it’s accompanying sex. She did leave out the part where she let Jubilee feed from her so the other woman could get drunk, and of course Jubilee’s private problems she kept to herself as well.
Alex smirked and listened, and started eating as he chuckled at her adventures. “Sounds like you had a busy week. I mostly worked.” He was almost envious.
Lorna nodded. “Don’t worry, once the shop opens you’ll probably have more free time than me. I’m going to be spending most of my time not failing at business.”
Alex nodded and swallowed, then grinned. “You’ll figure it out. I’m sure.” he knew a lot of people, now, that needed or wanted what she had and had access to a prescription. He would flag them her way.
She nodded. “This trip is probably the last vacation I’ll get for a while. How sad is that?” She looked down a little, but tried not to let it get to her.
Alex smiled. “Hey, it’ll be okay. If you can’t go on vacation, the vacation will just have to come to you.” he nodded.
Lorna giggled. “Well, I do know a hot guy with a beach house.”
Alex smirked at her and reached out to poke one of her breasts lightly. “You do, and sex or no sex, he will always welcome you to his home.” He nodded to her.
She nodded, poking his chest back. “When you’re done, you should come back to see my room.”
Alex smiled as he finished, and nodded. he rose and stretched. “Sure. Show me, beautiful, to your abode.” he winked at her.
Lorna stood up as well, and tossed their garbage, before leading the way to her room. It was a little bedroom, which was dominated by a big bed. Yarn covered her dresser, along with crochet hooks and projects. A hydroponic setup was in the closet, so light shone through the seams and under the door. It was hot, which was how Lorna liked it. She smiled and sat on the bed. The bedclothes were dark red, her favorite color.
Alex followed along and then grinned, looking around, and smiling. “Looks pretty cool.” He looked at her fondly, “You have good taste, beautiful.”
She tugged him down onto the bed, since the orchard was occupied. “I think so, yeah.” She kissed him softly.
He smiled softly and stroked her body, teasingly, warmly. She felt good and he felt oddly romantic. “Mmm, yum.” He stroked her body a little more intently as he pulled her close.
She laughed, letting herself be pulled in. “If things were different I would want to date you.” But with her shop opening soon, it just wasn’t fair. Plus, she knew she was emotionally unstable at the moment. “I wish my life was more settled.”
“I wouldn’t mind the idea under other circumstances, either. I work however, with such a schedule that literally I never have a set day off. Each week it is different with three days on and three days off, “ He sighed and kissed her softly.
“Maybe we’ll both find a way to settle down someday, but until then, you know I’ll be here for you whenever i can. I’m rather fond of you, Lorna Dane.” And he rubbed his nose on hers.
She laughed at the nose rubs. “Maybe. I’d like it, if we could. But don’t feel like you have to stay single or anything. If you find someone else you like, or I do, we can still be friends.” She hugged him tight. “And until then, we’re friends who have sex. Or at least mutual masturbation.”
“Sounds like fun. Until then.” He kissed her, and snuggled close.
