Who: Tessa and Yuna
When: Their work shifts
Where: The hospital
What: Talk about dreams/Partner thread
Warnings/Rating: TBD

Tucking one arm under the other Yuna stood there staring out at the semi-empty ER or well, as empty as it got. Not that she was unhappy because it was a nice relief from the busy overnight where they had the usual heart-attacks, shootings, stabbing and even a man that thought it was smart to sick his... Well, stick body parts where they didn't belong. She should catch up on her paperwork but instead she found herself there talking to one of the EMTs after they come back to retrieve the backboard they had left with an earlier patient.

"Had many of the dreams," Yuna asked lightly as she shifted the weight of the backboard so she could help carry it out to the ambulance. Not that she was in any hurry because she liked to talk to the EMTs and she deserved a bit of a break after that night. Her shift was almost over anyhow long as no one asked her to work late.

"I've had a few but they're kind of... Odd."

A frown formed on her forehead out of concentration. "Yeah... You dream about something similar too?" She asked keeping up the same pace as her counterpart.

"Seems to be a common theme anyhow," Yuna said with a thought back to her own thoughts and dreams. "Like monsters? The one in my dreams were horrid blood thirsty monsters." Like Sin the big monster that hurt so many people. "It was beautiful the sending thing. It helped them and I think that is what is most important."

Tessa nodded, the outside door opening automatically as they approached. "Like monsters." War seemed to create a lot of those, among the living and the dead. But Tessa seemed to mostly deal with the dead or dying, in her dreams so far.

"The souls were so beautiful. I can't even describe it."

"Terrible monsters," Yuna agreed as she pushed the thought from her mind. They may not have any real monsters in their world but there were plenty of bad people to make up for it. Maybe it was a metaphor for what they were seeing in their dreams.

She nodded in agreement. It was actually a beautiful in her dream too. "Maybe the dreams just come from our exposure to so much suffering and death in this world and in our jobs? Like we want to think of it as beauty because it helps." It seemed like sense and she wasn't quite ready to accept the dreams as more than that yet.

"Maybe." Tessa had heard differently from some people, but she supposed there was room for interpretation. The dreams did resonate with certain elements of waking life, at least for her. "Helping the souls cross over in my dreams reminds me of the time I helped escort a donor heart to its new recipient. Sad and happy at the same time."

Good or bad depended on what you believed she supposed. "Guess it depends on if you believe there is any place to escort souls too," and honestly she wasn't really sure what she believed when it came down to it. She had been raised in a religious family, her father especially, but he had told her a lot of lies so who wasn't to say they were all lies? It was a tricky subject.

"In my dreams, I was sure of it," she said, "In fact, I was sure there were several places where a soul could go after death. Including reincarnation." But did she, herself, believe in those things? She wasn't sure. "I do think there is more to life than science has been able to explain, though."

She chewed on her lip a moment as she set the end of the backboard down a moment. Yuna figured she would like to think there is more to life than what is on earth but she wasn't sure? Surely this couldn't be all they got? Maybe it really was just a comfort thing for people to think of and that was the purpose of religion.

"That doesn't sound half that bad though, reincarnation. Sure it is if you get a bad life but there is always some good even in with the bad. It would be another chance to be a positive force."

Tessa smiled. "I'd like to think so," she said, "Not that we should put off being a positive force, here and now, but that we can continue to have an impact, even if we move on, or things change."

"For the universe's sake, I hope you're right." Yuna said as she helped her finish loading the backboard into the ambulance. "I mean there is so much negative I like to think that some of us are here to counter balance it. Seems my dream world is driven by negative forces."
