'Wait, what!?'
Dr. Andrews stared silently down at his clipboard over the rim of his spectacles. He was either rereading for professional confirmation or simply torturing Oliver for pleasure. Finally, when Oliver's heartbeat was in his throat and fear and joy threatened to tear apart his insides in a joint effort to escape, Dr. Andrews' gaze rose from the page and settled on his. 'I honestly cannot explain it to you, Mister Wood, but according to today's MRI results there is no need for further treatment. Beyond your standard physical therapy, of course.'
'No more surgery.' Oliver needed plain and simple verbiage. And even then he wasn't sure his brain could comprehending what his ears were hearing. 'No further damage? Nothing else?'
In an uncharacteristic gesture, Dr. Andrews smiled. It looked rather difficult for him, more as if he'd swallowed something sour than received good news but he was genuinely pleased for his patient. Only very, very surprised. 'Just the therapy. No surgery.'
At the confirmation, Oliver cried.

Twenty minutes later, Oliver wrapped loudly on Thor's hospital room door. It did not even occur to him that Thor might have been sleeping, nor that two weeks ago, he'd been in a very similar situation and not at all keen on knocks or loud noises. But in that moment, eyes still red and puffy from tears of joy, Oliver couldn't contain himself. He wanted to shout at the top of his lungs, bang on every door and counter, snog every nurse in sight and run madly down the hall. All that remained overnight of his year long struggle was a small sling, an ice pack, and a sever warning. Don't push yourself too hard too fast. And call your PT
He'd do that as soon as he got home. For now though, Oliver had to tell someone who gave more than a mild interest the good news. Even if that someone was currently restricted to a hospital bed and probably not very receptive to his clean bill of health.
Oliver knocked again, bouncing on his toes.
