Both of his hands moved up and over her back as she kissed his face, his eyes closing like he was drowning in the moment. After drawing in a deep breath, he finally opened them again so he could gaze up at her, a smile starting to play at the corners of his lips.

"It never has to end, Violet."

When he said that, when he said her name, even...it was like he was making a promise to her. Or a solemn vow.
