Nova still wasn't sure why she was going to this science club. Sure, Leroy had insisted that it was high time that Nova went out and made some friends her own age, but Nova wasn't entirely convinced that that was necessary. She'd gotten by just fine without friends so far; her family was really the only people she needed.
But it wasn't like she had anything better to do, and the only science that Leroy and Ingrid were interested in was science that usually wound up in someone winding up dead. It might be interesting to be able to actually talk to other people about physics and electronics and renewable energy, instead of how much cyanuric acid was needed for the perfect batch of cyanide or how to make C4 without losing a hand.
She felt a little awkward walking into the room, but thought it would probably be a good idea to introduce herself to the guy who was fiddling around with all the chemicals. She pulled her t-shirt down, cleared her throat, opened her mouth to introduce herself and then...
He was shoving some kind of vial at her. She took it by reflex, and then held it up to eye level. She'd been handling dangerous chemicals since she was six, and even if she was normally wearing gloves when she did so, she wasn't too perturbed. "Oh yeah?" she asked. "What is it?"
