"Two," John held up the fingers. "Sisters," he clarified. "Both older," he added. He fell silent then, and took a bite of his burrito. He couldn't eat and talk at the same time. Or at least, he wouldn't. He could eat a meal without saying a word, obviously. He could go for days without uttering a word, but he wouldn't be rude. He chewed and swallowed before elaborating.
"One's overseas, the other is a big shot lawyer in Chicago," he explained. "Both hearing, I was never close to either of them." Which didn't mean they were at odds. They were just both girls, both older than him, and he wasn't privy to their private conversations since he couldn't exactly eaves drop on them. They were family, but as adults they were just people who had once shared the same address.
