Who: Elijah Mikaelson and Laurel Lance
Where: Elijah's office
What: Talking business.
When: Monday morning
Rating: Low.
Status: Done.

After her father's death, Laurel had some money she had put away while she was working in New York, that she had thought would be wise to invest, especially for Olivia’s college. She didn’t want to count on Oliver to fit all the bills, they were co-parenting, she will pay half or whatever they decided. Since Laurel was obsessed with the news, she watched some of the stocks go up and down, and just wanted to check in with how her investments were and on Olivia’s fund.

She made the appointment early, able to snag the eight am one! Laurel just dropped Olivia off at daycare, stop by for a chat with Mr. Mikaelson, and planned to go to work. She was sipping on her coffee as she walked into the office, smiled at his receptionist, “Laurel Lance to see Mr. Mikaelson, please.”

“Ms. Lance.” Elijah greeted from the doorway. “A pleasure, as always. Do come in. Would you like some coffee? Or tea, perhaps?” The receptionist could get her anything she desired and he did like to take care of his clientele and make them feel comfortable. Finance was an area in which most people felt out of their depth. A little common courtesy went a long way in helping them feel at ease.

Laurel held up her own cup, “Already have one, but thanks for offer,” she nodded her head to the receptionist and headed to Elijah in the doorway, “I won’t keep you long,” she assured him as she slid by him into the office.

“It’s quite alright. If I didn’t want to talk to people, I wouldn’t be in the job that I am,” Elijah assured her, gesturing for her to take a seat. “Besides, you’re planning for a very important future so I can understand wanting to keep a close eye on the market and the investment. But you’re in good hands. I promise.”

“I know I am, I did check you out before becoming a client,” Laurel assured him as she sat down, sipping her coffee, “I just wanted to check in, see where we stand with the stocks and on Olivia's college fund, I will soon have more money to add into it.”

“It’s going well. The stock market is booming right now, for all the instability in the government and elsewhere.” A few clicks of the mouse and Elijah pulled up the portfolio, twisting the screen so she could see. “Here’s where you began the year and you can see, even just a few months in, the value has increased. I would advise to diversify a little bit. Right now you’re mostly in blue chip stock. Steady but not as much potential as something a bit more aggressive. I wouldn’t put it all into riskier stock but I think we could shift a small percentage and watch things grow. If you’re comfortable that is.”

Laurel look at the screen, looking at all the information and nodded her head, “I think we are safe to do that, just a small percentage,” the goal was to make money and she knew she would lose some as well, but she trusted Elijah, he was her advisor afterall. “What amount are you thinking to move?” she asked

“I was thinking 5-10 percent.” A small portion. “And then we’ll see how things develop from there. Would that be alright?”

“How about five,” she offered with a nod of her head, “lets just test the waters if something good happens we can move more money over.” She sipped her coffee slowly, “I think that would be for the best.”

“As you wish,” Elijah nodded. “I’ll make the changes and I’ll let you know how it develops. Is there anything else I can do for you?”

She took a moment, shook her head, “No, I think that’s it,” she smiled, “I’ll send a check in a few days to deposit.” With one swift movement she stood up, switching hands to shake his, “thank you for helping me with this,”

“You’re very welcome, Ms. Lance. It’s my pleasure, as always.” Gesturing for her to go first, Elijah led her to the door. “Don’t hesitate to let me know if I can do anything else for you.”
