Eliot was trying to stay away from the harder drugs that he’d used in New York but after the day he’d had, the clients he’d had, he needed something stronger than pot and alcohol to help take the edge off. He’d made a few calls, sent a few messages, made sure that the man he was going to see had what he wanted before driving over. Another one of the perks of working for himself? He didn’t have to worry about random drug testing. And he wasn’t working that night so he was going to get loaded.
Maybe if he did enough he’d manage to avoid the dreams and not have to face whatever had happened in them that had upset Margo so badly. She hadn’t talked to him about it but he knew her well enough to tell. And not to push. He didn’t spend a lot of time talking to the guy, getting what he’d come there for and walking out with it in his coat pocket. He’d go home, get dinner started for everyone and then do what he wanted for himself. He passed another man in the hall, nodding at him in a vague hello before stopping and looking at him again. Shit. He knew him. He was on the network with them and that could be a problem if he decided to run his mouth about seeing Eliot down here. After all there really weren’t any reasons for a party planner to be around this neighborhood. Not at this time of day anyway. “Hey,” he said, trying to appear casual as he tried to get a read on the situation he found himself in.

Katou was there for the same reason Elliot was. He needed something to take the edge off, and he knew these people. He was still debating over in his head whether or not he should offer to start selling for them again. He was still getting paid from the Agency, but he was sure that would stop when the next disaster happened and Katou was nowhere to be found. Besides, his new habit wasn’t cheap, and his savings were starting to dry up. But he was torn from his thoughts when someone addressed him.
For his part, he had no idea who Eliot was. He generally didn’t pay attention to people he didn’t give a shit about on the Network. He also wasn’t nearly as nervous as this dude seemed to be about running into someone. If it had been someone he cared about, maybe he would have been moreso, but who the hell was this nobody? Still, he grinned at him, one that was almost predatory, and returned the greeting. “Hey. How’s it going, man?”
***
Eliot raised one eyebrow at that predatory grin but didn’t comment on it as he responded. “Better now that I’ve gotten what I needed here. Might be a little low on things now.” He said with a shrug. He’d gotten more than he normally would so that he didn’t have to come back here for a while.

Pretty much everyone who came here left feeling a little better than they did when they first walked in. “You and me both, bro,” Katou said. “Big plans for tonight?”
***
Eliot shrugged. “Depends on what everyone’s up to when I get home.” That was pretty much how every night worked for him these days. And he loved it. He spent all day planning things so it was nice to just go with the flow at night at home.
***
“Home, huh?” Katou asked, frowning to himself for a moment. “Sure you wouldn’t rather go party with that stash you just picked up?”
***
Eliot grinned at him. “I’m hoping to get a party organized when I get home.”
***
“Well hey, the more the merrier, right?” Katou asked, grinning.
***
“Gonna have to pass this time. I’m not much into sharing these days.” Eliot said with an almost apologetic shrug before turning to leave.
