Who: Clara and Liv
What: Girl’s night in
When: Mid April
Where: Liv’s place
Warnings: Liv’s on nudist brain… so nudity
Status: Log | Complete

Unfortunately for Liv, and the brain of the latest victim, public nudity was still a no-no. She was spending a lot of her free time inside either her apartment or Dan’s. Without clothes. Not wanting to have to go out to put them on. It was bad enough she had to wear them for work. Tonight though she invited Clara over. It had been too long and they needed to catch up. She had a bottle of wine (okay a few bottles) ready for when her friend arrived.

Liv didn’t bother to warn Clara about her latest phase. She didn’t see what the big deal was. Why there was so much stigma around nudity. It was the most natural state after all. How one came into the world. And there was nothing more freeing. So when there was a knock on the door, Liv opened it in her birthday suit. “Hey,” she greeted with a smile on her face. “I hope your in the mood for some wine.”

Clara really had no idea on what she was walking into. All she knew was that she and Liv had decided to do a girl’s night and Clara always did appreciate a good hen night. So she had agreed and headed over to Liv’s flat as she didn’t have plans with Bucky that night and hadn’t been over at his place.

Of course when Liv opened the door, Clara’s eyebrows rose in shock.

“Please tell me we’re not going to Church.”

Which…. Liv wouldn’t understand the reference. And it did bring back memories of Dreams of the Doctor and Trenzalore and regeneration and all the emotion from that. And the awkward as well.

“Church?” Liv asked raising a brow. “Religious brain was awhile ago,” she teased. Though granted it was entirely possible she ate the brain of another overly-religious person. But still that definitely wasn’t the case tonight.

“Unless,” she continued a smirk on a face. “You worship the god of wine.”

“Dream thing, nevermind.” And it really was the easiest of explanations. Say something weird and it probably related to the Dreams. Just like Liv being a zombie or Clara being technically dead. Still, the comment about the religious brain did answer the why Liv was currently naked. Must be the brain she was on.

“Though I mean, you need to be specific. Do you mean Dionysus or Bacchus?”

While that did explain it, Liv was still curious of the story. She had a feeling the comment had to do with her nudity. Of course she wanted to hear about a naked dream!church. Who wouldn’t? “You’ll have to tell me sometime,” Liv commented leading Clara into the apartment.

“Dionysus, obviously. I do love the Greeks,” she poured them each a glass of wine handing one over to Clara before taking a seat on the couch. “But really. What’s been going on with you? I feel like it’s been forever.” With all the drama with Dan, and then just the drama of her different brain personalities Liv hadn’t had a ton of time to hang out with her friends lately.

“I definitely will.” After all, there were plenty of Dreams she’d had that would make good stories. Again, the one with the Church of the Papal Mainframe wasn’t the best of Dreams and there was a lot to unpack but it would probably come up and she’d tell the story.

“Well obviously, but it is one of those things we need to make sure to specify.” Grinning, Clara took the wine and sat on the couch as well. It had been forever it seemed. Between helping Bucky with his PTSD, and general weirdness of Orange County that she would investigate…. “Nothing much. Investigating the weird, you know. The usual. How about you?”

“Same,” Liv replied taking a sip of her wine. “Only murders instead of the general weird.” Though a good portions of the murders she investigated had some weird circumstances. But this was Orange County. The weird was to be expected. “Any interesting cases lately?”

Clara nodded some. Made sense. Even in the midst of all the crazy that was known as Orange County? They all still had their jobs to do. That didn’t stop just because they were used to things being a bit more than the average person might be prepared for.

“Well. Someone nearly created a star in their flat that would have caused quite the problem had it fully formed.” Which Lena had posted about. Mostly. Vaguely. But that was the most major case that she’d been involved with. Then of course the Easter attacks of peeps and rabbits but again, that had been more country wide.

“A star?” Liv repeated echoing Clara’s words. “Like from the sky?” She probably shouldn’t have sounded as shocked as she did. This was Orange County after all.

“At least there’s never a dull moment in this place,” Liv commented taking another sip of her wine. And there definitely wasn’t a dull moment with either of their jobs.

“One and the same. Gravitational and energy type device, started to generate all you would find in a star, which obviously wouldn’t work. Luckily I was able to stabilize the energy while the person who created the device turned it off so the energy dissipated. Seemed they had a brother who decided to mess with things he shouldn’t have.”

Because really. Orange County. And men messing with things they shouldn’t.

“There really isn’t.”

“How’d you do that? With the TARDIS?” Liv was unsure how else one would stabilize the energy of a star. But then space was never her expertise. There was never a dull moment in Liv’s dreams. But Clara’s always seemed super fascinating to her. Who wouldn’t want to travel through time and space?

“Combination. The TARDIS was on top of the roof, which certainly helped. I also had the Sonic Sunglasses which helped. Luckily it was still in the beginning phases, which made it easier to contain.” Because stabilizing the energy of a star was just so simple. But Clara tended to downplay such things as no big deal. Part of it was because of her basic immortale status (until she re-dreamed Trap Street as far as she could see) but also because of just how common these situations had become for her.

“What?” Liv asked setting her glass down. “Sonic Sunglasses?” she knew about the TARDIS of course. But she had no idea Clara had Sonic Sunglasses. Whatever those even were. “You are going to have to show me those. And how they work.”

Well, she wouldn’t be a proper time traveller if she didn’t have them with her. Rummaging through her bag, Clara pulled the sunglasses out. “They can pick locks, hack things, turn them on or off, scan, things like that.” Honestly it was hard to really explain all the specifics.

“I bet they come in handy with your line of work.” What investigator, or well consultant technically, wouldn’t want glasses that can pick locks and hack things? “Can I see?” Not that she had a lock that needed picking at the moment, or anything to hack or scan for that matter. But still.

“The definitely can.” Just as the sonic screwdriver could, the sunglasses had a tendency to come in use more often than not. Between her private investigating as well as the work she did for the Agency when Natasha reached out. “But yeah, definitely.” Handing the glasses over, Clara then leaned back and took a sip of her wine.

Liv put the glasses on and just looked around. Nothing really changed. But it just felt exciting to wear them. After a few moments she took them off handing them over to Clara. “I can’t believe I am just now finding out about these,” she commented teasingly.

Laughing some, Clara put the sunglasses away and then shrugged.

“A girl’s got to have some secrets. Also they’ve become so normal to me in the way that you don’t even think about them until discussing a situation like the whole star incident.”

That was Clara’s life for you though. Always something going on so things that would seem so strange to others? Completely normal and not much of a big deal. Still, Liv was teasing and Clara’s voice was light as she didn’t really take the comment all that seriously.

Liv could understand that. There were things about her life that just became normal. That she didn’t even think to bring up. It was just part of living where they did. “Well for the future. I’d like to know of any space gadgets.”

Laughing some, Clara nodded.

“Duly noted. I’ll make sure to take inventory and let you know what it is I have.” It wasn’t like she was dreaming anymore and no more objects were showing up. But it was also entirely possible she had things in the TARDIS she didn’t even think about so… it was possible she could find something to fill Liv in on.

“I can work with that,” Liv agreed. But for now she was ready to just enjoy some wine and good conversation with her friend.
