Leon had never gone snowboarding before. As a child and a teenager, he'd done a lot of skateboarding, and even now he still surfed, but snowboarding was significantly colder than either of those sports and Leon did not enjoy the cold. Still, it could be fun. And he didn't expect it to be hard. After all, unlike with surfing or with skateboarding, his feet were actually attached to the snowboard. How could going down a snowy hill strapped in be any harder than going down a paved road with nothing attaching you to your board? And if you fell you were less likely to get torn up by the landing.
Still, sitting here on the top of the mountain, it was a little intimidating. He'd heard somewhere that snowboarders could reach speeds of 125mph. And even though he was wearing a heavy leather jacket, a toque, gloves, scarf, and a pair of aviator sunglasses, it was still kind of chilly. He knew he'd never reach speeds like 100mph - definitely not on his first day out unless something went horribly wrong - just how cold would he get going down at any kind of speed?
He looked over at the man who was the reason for him being here. If Alex hadn't insisted, Leon would have never had done this. He still couldn't decide if that warranted an ass-kicking or a beer. He'd decide when he got off this mountain, probably.
