Jeremy was sitting on the back deck, throwing one of Dragon’s toys out towards the beach for the dog to retrieve. He had gotten home a little while earlier and after taking a shower he had come outside with Dragon while they waited for Myrcella to finish up with her clients for the day. With both of them working they saw each other a little less than before, but considering Myrcella’s salon was an extension of the house, she was never too far when he was home so it wasn’t as if he didn’t see her for hours at a time and since she made her own hours, they were always able to plan things to do together.
With classes starting again soon, Jeremy’s time would be focused on school work so he would likely find another job that would work with his class schedule, but Jeremy didn’t mind, because carpentry was an extremely physical job even for someone who had heightened strength.
Her salon being part of their home definitely had its benefits, as did working for herself. It had been daunting at first but now she was used to it and had a great accountant who helped her come tax time. And of course she was always busy, she had reliable clients who came back to her again and again. Overall it was going very well.
Slipping out onto the back deck after seeing her last client out and washing her hands she slipped an arm around Jeremy’s waist as she came to sit next to him, “Hey, wearing him out?” she asked with a smile gesturing to their dog.
Jeremy looked up as he heard the door open and smiled when he saw Myrcella, “Yup. Well that’s the theory anyway.” He leaned over and pressed a kiss to her lips once she was sitting down beside him and took the ball from Dragon as he returned with it then proceeded to greet Myrcella, his tail wagging, the ball momentarily forgotten.
“Results may vary” she said with a grin after returning the kiss, their dog was notoriously hard to exhaust though thankfully he had plenty of toys to occupy him. “Hey beautiful boy” she said as he gave her free hand a lick before she stroked behind his ears, Myrcella couldn’t imagine not having Dragon around now. They were a little family and she was so grateful for what she had. “You okay?” she asked Jeremy the fingers on the hand around his waist moving gently up and down.
Jeremy laughed and nodded, “That is very true.” Getting Dragon’s attention, he threw the ball again and the dog ran off to get it, “Yeah, I’m fine.” He glanced over at Myrcella as Dragon picked up the ball, but instead of coming back decided to frolic in the sand, “I didn’t tell you though, Katherine came over the other morning. She dreamt about when she killed me.” His sister had been extremely freaked out over the fact that she had more or less killed him, but once he explained that, not only did he not hate her, but that he didn’t stay dead for long, she felt a lot better.
“Oh god, poor Katherine. Was she okay? You explained everything right?” Myrcella knew a lot about Jeremy’s dreams and he about hers since they told each other everything about them. There was no point in lying when they lived together and you never knew what was going to come over from them, it was just safer to be open and honest.
“She was really freaked out at first, but yeah, I explained everything to her. About how I eventually came back, but then had to lie and say I’d faked my death for attention,” Jeremy still thought it was a little crappy that Elena burned down the house and he had to take the fall for it in the long run. “She was better when she left later on.”
“I’m glad. In a way she’s lucky to be dreaming it all after you have, it must be reassuring even if it’s scary and unnerving at first” Myrcella said, she knew she’d appreciate having somebody who had experienced it all.
Jeremy nodded, “I had debated telling her awhile back, but I didn’t want to be the one to tell her that she killed me.” He could have only imagined how Katherine would have taken that back when she had started dreaming. “But you know how I hate to spoil things for others, unlike other people,” Damon loved blurting things out that others had yet to dream, “But I couldn’t let her think that she killed me for good, so I had to tell her about the Veil dropping and Bonnie bringing me back.” He had hated seeing his sister so upset, so it only made sense that he’d tell her that.
“It’s always hard to know whether to tell people or not before they dream it. People can react differently to how you think they will sometimes, even those you know well” Myrcella said before leaning in to press a kiss to Jeremy’s cheek, “You did the right thing, it would have been awful for her to continue thinking she’d done that”
Jeremy smiled as Myrcella kissed his cheek and he reached over to take one of her hands as Dragon ran back up to them, “I just feel responsible for her and Elena. You know since it’s just the three of us now.” He didn’t know what he would tell Elena if and when she ever came back to Orange County, but he’d have to tell her something about the dreams. Not only was he a Hunter and medium now, but Katherine was a vampire and Tyler was a hybrid. She was going to find out everything eventually.
Myrcella nodded, “I know what you mean, if Tommen came over I’d feel responsible for him too. It’s natural to feel that way for your family especially when you have more knowledge than they do about things. It’s good that you can help Katherine and I am positive she thinks so too”
“I hope so. I mean, it seemed like she felt that way, so one can only hope,” He pressed a kiss to Myrcella’s cheek then got to his feet, holding out a hand for her, “Are you hungry? We should make something for dinner before it gets too late.” Sensing that it might be time to go in, Dragon moved around them to the patio door and sat, ball in mouth, waiting.
Myrcella put her hand in his and let him pull her up, “Dinner is an excellent idea” she said and laughed a little at Dragon, “I think our boy here agrees too” she said, hand still in Jeremy’s as the little family moved inside.
