Who: Merlin and Audrey Where: Their place When: Mid June What: Date Night! Rating/Warnings: Low/None Status: Complete
Nina and Gabe were watching Bea and Ben, so Audrey made Merlin’s favorite meal. She cleaned the living room and dining room area, and set the table. There were candles lit, soft music playing, and Audrey was wearing a pretty, summery dress. It was a nice night, though it was a little warm and humid. Hopefully Merlin could magic up some AC.
Noticing Audrey seemed a little warm Merlin did indeed conjure up a nice light breeze which didn’t disturb the candles but did cool the room a little. “You look beautiful” Merlin told her tugging her close and giving her a kiss, “I’m so glad we started up date night again”
Audrey grinned as she turned to him. She let herself be tugged into his arms, and wrapped her own around him to cuddle close for a few kisses. “Me, too. I think we need this.” They could certainly ask for more than a couple of hours each week to themselves. “Life gets so hectic. Sometimes I just miss you. Though, we did have a pretty powerful duet last week.” She teased.
“Mmm me too” he agreed, before laughing, “We rocked it, it’s such a shame we didn’t record that. I bet it would have been a hit” he winked, Audrey had a lovely voice thankfully but Merlin didn’t really think much of his own. It had been fun if somewhat strange though to be going about your day and then suddenly you were in a musical.
“I don’t think we could even recreate it if we tried.” Audrey gave a laugh, too. It’d been so much fun, actually, one of the crazy events in Orange County that wasn’t terror or aliens attacking or whatever. It’d been fun. She’d even danced. “Hey, maybe we should take ballroom dancing classes.”
“Not at all. Embarrassment didn’t seem to enter into it at the time but it would now” Merlin said, he wasn’t the sort to sing in front of others, or those who weren’t close friends and family anyway. “Ballroom dancing? You’ve been watching Dancing with the Stars again haven’t you?” he teased her but liked the idea.
Audrey laughed again. “Yes, that’s a good point. I don’t think I’d be able to do it without being embarrassed now.” It wasn’t until after the song that she’d realized what she’d even done. But it had been fun and they were both really talented. Surprisingly so. “What? No. Well, okay, maybe a little.” She grinned. “But I think we should! We make a great team!”
It had definitely been fun at the time and Merlin would always have fond yet amusing memories of it all. He chuckled, “Well I can’t deny that, we do make a great team and seem to be good at whatever we turn our hand to” It was just the way they worked, they supported and helped each other. Merlin knew without a doubt it was because they’d been such good and close friends first.
“That settles it. I’ll find a place where we can take some dance classes. Ballroom stuff. Tango? Waltz? Rumba?” She grinned, then motioned for him to take a seat. “Let’s eat before it gets too cold. Then… do you want to cuddle in bed and catch up on House of Cards?”
“Oh god not rumba” Merlin said with a chuckle, “It looks so bloody pretentious, all that posing and strutting around. Teach me actual dance” he added as he sat down, “That sounds perfect. I love you” he said leaning over to press a kiss to her lips.
“I love you, too.” Audrey leaned over to return his kiss. They had the whole night ahead of them; dinner and drinks, then pajamas and cuddling. And probably a round or two of hot, married sex. Audrey’s life was the best.
