Who: Rebekah and Enzo What: Catching Up When: BACKDATED, Early March Where: Enzo's house Rating: PG Status: Complete
Rebekah hadn’t really been home since the night everything went to hell, other than to stop in now and then to switch out clothes. What was worse is that usually when she was coming in, Enzo was going out or vice versa. She felt bad, not being around. Enzo was an important part of her life too. But whenever it came to a crisis with her family she got tunnel vision. She focused completely on them, and without realizing it, she’d push anything else to the back of her mind. Thankfully Elijah told her that he’d be spending time with Kol for the evening and suggested that she spend some time with the man she had pretty much been living with up until now.
Putting the key in the lock, she opened the door and was greeted by a very happy dog. “Hello Apollo” She murmured fondly as she scratched behind the animal's ears on her way in. She set her bag down and made her way to the bedroom. It felt like she was on autopilot. She felt so exhausted, though it was probably all in her head. Collapsing face first on the bed, Rebekah buried her face into the pillow with a soft sigh, as she waited for Enzo to arrive home.
Enzo understood that Kol needed his sister right now. He wasn’t an unreasonable man, or even a jealous man. He was confident in his relationship with her to know that he still mattered to her. Still, he was pleasantly surprised when he pulled up to his house and saw her car parked outside. It looked like he’d get to spend time with his girlfriend tonight after all.
Letting himself inside the apartment, he rubbed behind Apollo’s ears and walked inside the bedroom to see Hades poking his paw at Rebekah’s head, meowing loudly for attention.
“Hello love,” he murmured, leaning down to kiss the top of her head.
Feeling the kiss to her head, Rebekah rolled onto her back so she could look up at her boyfriend. She had been so cautious in getting involved with Enzo, knowing that she tended to get emotionally attached easily. But still she had managed to fall for him.
“Hey you,” she replied with a soft smile. Reaching up she took his hand to pull him down next to her. All she wanted right now was to curl up next to him even if it was only for a few hours. “I missed you.”
Enzo knew it was potentially dangerous to get attached, he had fallen for Caroline, only to have her break his heart, his past girlfriend that Damon had stolen, but Rebekah was different. He didn’t think Rebekah would be flighty and leave him for Damon or another friend. She was a good woman and he was happy to be by her side.
“I’ve missed you too,” gently he kissed her lips. “How is the baby?” He had wanted to drop in and see Kol and his daughter, but knew enough to know Kol needed to alone. He hadn’t wanted to see anyone after Maggie had died in college, he suspected Kol felt the same way.
“She's perfect.” She said softly as she let her head rest on his chest. She needed this time with him, if only for a little while tonight. She was glad that Enzo understood that she needed to be there with her brother. Once things went back to as normal as they could get she planned on making it up to him some how.
“You should come see her. I know Kol could use some friends.”
“Damon and I have talked about it,” he said with a sigh, “but we’ve been afraid of encroaching on territory. We wanted to give him time to grieve, but if you feel that he’s ready to receive guests, we will go visit him, and of course, the baby,” he said with a smile as he kissed her nose gently. “You’re a good sister, Rebekah, kind, and have a sense of loyalty. Your brother is lucky to have you,”
And while his bed had been cold and empty, he also understood why she wasn’t with him right now. Kol needed her more.
“Thank you,” she murmured, letting her eyes close for a moment. “I know I haven't been around much...maybe once things settle we could get away go a bit just the two of us”
“That sounds good. Maybe Italy, perhaps? I can take you to Rome, Venice, Milan, all the fancy places that a girl like you should experience and enjoy. The nightlife there is fabulous, lots of tourists, lots of opportunities to feed and compel away the memory. But only when you’re ready. I know you’re not ready to leave Kol’s side yet, or the babies for that matter.”
“That sounds nice,” she agreed as she listened to him talk. The sound of his voice was soothing and she found herself feeling tired. But it was all in her head really since technically she didn't need sleep anymore. It was now just a way to pass time. “Maybe Florence too..Florence is so beautiful in the springtime.”
“Anywhere you want,” he agreed as he kissed her forehead. “Come on love, let’s go to sleep and enjoy what time we have together before you have to get back to Kol and your niece. But you do realize that eventually he’s going to have to learn how to survive on his own without you. It’s tragic what happened to Mary Alice, but you can’t stop living your life to to help him raise the baby.”
