It was Halloween again. Not the worst holiday, that tended to be reserved for Christmas, but he wasn't one who typically celebrated Halloween much. Or at least he didn't dress up for it. The only time he did was when Clara made him. This year was no different. He wasn't dressing up, and he had no plans to attend a party. He wasn't really the party type anymore. Well, not the Doctor, anyway. Duncan could get into the mood for a good party if he was able to get into it. But right now, he was better suited to just staying in his TARDIS. It was also possible he could pop back to his flat and actually hand out candy to kids the following evening. But he was staying right here for the time being.
His thoughts were currently turned towards this universe. He wanted to explore more of it, wondering if he'd find planets and races from his dream world here. He didn't know if he wanted to know if Daleks, Cybermen and so forth were out there. On one hand, he did want to know so he could help protect Earth from them. On the other, he didn't want to deal with them. Daleks were unreasonable. Cybermen were just as unreasonable. And both of them would only hurt Clara because of the things she'd been through. No, he would want to stave off any potential invasions before Clara had to see any of them again. Though she'd probably take that better than if Missy showed her face here, but that was something entirely different. Sort of.
But the Doctor was starting to resolve himself to needing to find out if races like the Daleks were in this universe. He needed to know if Skaro was out there. Or, god forbid, Gallifrey was here. Despite how terrible the Daleks were, the Doctor didn't exactly want his own people here either. They had turned out to be little better than their age-old enemy. That and he was still very, very angry at them for what had ultimately happened to Clara. That was something he would never quite let go of. He held his pains close, but he held his anger tighter, and he did tend to lash out at times. However, he had no reason to lash out here, so he kept it to himself. Clara was still here, he had to keep reminding himself of that. She may be gone in his dreams, and he couldn't exactly remember her there, but he still had her here, and he remembered her. That was also something he was not going to let go of as long as he could help it. They both deserved better than what had happened in their dreams.
"So what do you think, old girl? Fancy a spin around this universe? There's plenty of new wonders to see here." He didn't think she'd protest. Besides, it was a different universe, and it was one they had yet to truly explore.
"Such a journey would be welcome, master." K-9 chirped. The Doctor had nearly forgotten the robot dog was roaming about.
"I suppose then we should begin exploring. Would you be opposed to Martha and Clara potentially joining us? And maybe others in the future as well?"
"Not at all, master."
"Excellent. Then perhaps we should decide where to go to next, and who to ask." Alexis and Richard had already been on a trip. And he'd promised Martha another adventure. So perhaps he'd ask Martha next. And hopefully nothing horrendous happened to them. He remembered how she'd tired of traveling, especially after experiencing the Year That Never Was. At any rate, a new adventure was on the horizon, and he felt giddy at the thought.
The Doctor was in, and he was ready to see another universe.
