Clary settled down on Simon’s couch while she waited for the popcorn she’d put in the microwave to finish. “So, how are things going with Izzy?” she called over her shoulder.
Simon’s roommates had gone out to a concert so he and Clary had the apartment all to themselves so they could hang out uninterrupted. “Good. Really good.” Simon couldn’t help but grin as he thought of Izzy and how good things were going right now. Much better than in the dreams where she and Maia had found out that he was dating them both. “And how’re things with Jace?” Simon was still a little iffy about Jace, but that could have been because he mostly only knew dream!Jace. He barely knew real life Jace and he didn’t really like dream!Jace.
“Good, I’m really happy for you guys. You look so adorable together!” Clary grinned to herself, settling into the couch some more. “Jace? They’re fine. I’ve managed to keep him from tearing his stitches or anything while he’s been recovering from that stab wound, which I think I should get some kind of award for by the way,” she joked, checking her phone for any messages. “He wants to get out and about killing demons and stuff, but we’ve been convincing him that he needs to take his time and heal properly. He’s not good at having nothing to do,” she told him.
Simon couldn’t help but smile at Clary’s comment about his relationship, “Yeah, we are kind of cute.” He leaned back on the couch a little as Clary settled in, “It’s weird how that’s taking time to heal. I mean, my dreams are only a couple of weeks after that and he’s pretty much back to normal.” Except for the fact that he was now missing along with Sebastian’s body, but Simon didn’t know exactly where Clary was in her dreams, “He does know that there are currently no demons out here, right? So, I don’t know what he’s gonna kill.”
Clary chuckled before responding. “Well, he’s been up and about for a little while now, but the healing runes weren’t working when it happened so I think it delayed his recovery. I guess it was because of how he got the wound maybe,” she shrugged. “I know, but he was on the Net wishing that there were. We told him no thanks,” she laughed lightly.
“Does he want to jinx us? Only Jace would want demons to attack.” Simon might have been mostly invulnerable as a result of the Mark, but that didn’t mean he wanted to go out fighting demons. At least not after the last time, “Hey, have you gotten something to wear to Alec and Magnus’ wedding yet?” Simon did not own anything wedding worthy so he needed to go out soon to get something.
“I know, right? Don’t worry, Iz and I set him straight,” Clary laughed. “Not yet. You know me and shopping. I keep meaning to ask Iz to drag me to find something but I keep procrastinating,” she told him. “You? I bet Iz is going to have you in the sharpest looking suit she can find,” she winked at him.
“Good. Dream!Jace is reckless enough, we don’t need that here,” Simon wished he knew what had happened to Jace in the dreams, but he had a feeling that he’d find out soon enough, “Why don’t we go together? It’ll be like when we went prom shopping,” Except this time Simon wouldn’t be wearing some cheap rented suit. Izzy would probably want to come too.”
“Well, he’s still Jace at the end of the day, I don’t think he’s completely un-reckless here compared to here,” Clary laughed, springing up from the couch when she heard the microwave ding. After retrieving the popcorn, she collapsed on the couch beside him. “That’d be cool! Text Iz and see when she can fit us in,” she grinned, gesturing to his phone before throwing some popcorn in her mouth.
“Well, someone needs to keep an eye on him. We don’t need him to go looking for trouble.” Simon really hoped that nothing from their dreams showed up any time soon. They’d had enough to deal with over the last couple of months with the killer monkeys and various demon portal things, “I’m sure she can make time for us.” Simon located his cell phone and sent his girlfriend a quick text, asking her if she’d like to dress him and Clary for the wedding then set his phone back on the coffee table, “If we have time, while we’re in New York, we should do some former New Yorker sightseeing.” While Simon missed living in New York, he was happy to be near Clary again.
“That sounds like an excellent idea!” Clary grinned. “Now quit jabbering and put the movie on,” she teased, settling down into the sofa some more.
