Who: Maria Hill and (an incognito) John Blake.
What: Nighthawk, meet Agent Hill.
Where: A dark alley somewhere.
When: Sunday night. I think.
Rating: PG-13, at least, for mentions of violence and probably swearing.
Status: In progress.
Ever since "finishing" what seemed to be the timeline of dreams, Hill's sleep schedule had improved considerably. Coulson wasn't dead. Not here, and not in the dreams. That had been the main thing keeping her up, and now that the fear was alleviated, she had an easier time of falling asleep. It didn't stop her from sometimes re-experiencing that loss when the dream recurred, but when she woke up, she could reassure herself that it was just a dream.
That didn't mean she'd changed her workaholic ways, though. In fact, she enjoyed staying until the wee hours. There was something quiet and peaceful about the office at three AM. But all the coffee in the world couldn't stop her from getting tired. Normally, it was easy to shrug off with a quick jog around the office or splashing some water on her face. But when she couldn't concentrate anymore, it was time for a walk.
Which was why she was walking through a not-so-nice part of town at a ridiculous hour. The danger didn't concern her; she was a trained FBI agent and she was armed. Defending herself wasn't a problem. So when she heard what sounded like a violent scuffle in an alley up ahead, she reacted on instinct and pressed her back against the building, gun drawn. And slowly, slowly, she peeked around the corner to see what the fuss was.
