The housekeeper, Ms Wellington, had been informed that Jaime would be coming over so that probably wasn't the reason for the funny, slightly constipated look she gave Tywin when he arrived and told her to have dinner served on the terrace later.
"What is it?" Now wasn't the time for the staring-until-you've-read-my-mind game.
"A little warning would have been nice," she replied almost pertly. "Horse manure is not exactly good for the carpets, not to mention the smell. Your bedroom will need refurbishing."
"What horse manure?" There were no plants that would require that type of fertiliser and therefore the woman wasn't making any sense to Tywin.
"In the garden," was all she said before she turned around and vanished into the kitchen.
In the garden, on the meticulously cropped lawn, was a white horse. If Tywin weren't Tywin he wouldn't have believed his eyes. However, if you couldn't believe your own eyes, what could you believe? Besides, he recognised the animal. It was Lord Tywin's horse.
When the doorbell rang, it was the housekeeper who answered the door and after a bit of fussing about Jaime as if he was still the little boy she used to know, she directed him towards the garden as well.
