Shopping wasn't exactly a high priority on Sidney's list. She'd been working through the holiday to distract herself from all the weirdness going on, and to stave off the loneliness she felt around Christmas. Her pantry, however, was starting to suffer after days of being snowed in and Sidney knew that she was going to have to go out and brave whatever Orange County was offering these days.
Sidney bundled up, grabbed a few extra supplies to put into her car if she happened to break down, or, God forbid, run off the road before she headed in the direction of the nearest Von's. The parking lot was quite empty when Sidney arrived. Thanking God for small miracles, she parked close to the store, and then headed inside.
Early 2000's pop met her ears when she walked in, the cashiers up front all looking bored as they waited on customers to come through their lines. Sidney grabbed a cart, and proceeded through the produce section. She'd just made it to the aisle with the cake mixes when the music slowed, and the lights dimmed. Sidney glanced upward, watching as they faded in and out before finally shutting off. A scream came from up front, which caused her to spin around. Her shoulders relaxed the moment she heard 'Quit it!' followed by a slap and laughter.
Sidney stood there, hands on the handle of her cart while she waited on the emergency generator to kick in, assuming they had one, or for an employee to come get her. Her brows furrowed slightly as she heard the fast pitter-patter of little feet close to her, and she was about to take a step toward the sound when an employee came around the corner.
"Hello there, ma'am. If you'll follow me, we'll get you up front and --" He was promptly cut off as something jumped on him from the top of the shelf.
Sidney's eyes widened as the light beam fell on a -- Gremlin?
The employee dropped the flashlight, and began running the other way with the Gremlin still on his head. Sidney quickly moved to grab the flashlight, shining it around her as she inched her way down the aisle. It would figure that today would be the only day she decided to go out and not carry her gun on her, but then again, that was probably a good thing.
