Who: Max and Chloe. What: Watching a movie. When: Middle of September. Where: Max's place. Warnings: Chloe's mouth. Status: Complete!
So maybe falling asleep while watching a movie with Chloe wasn’t the best idea.
Max wasn’t sure if she was going crazy or not. Her Dreams had gotten more surreal and a little darker. How many times did she have to watch Chloe die? The gun in the junkyard, the train. It had taken her three tries to save her friend and when she closed her eyes she could still see the train hitting her.
It was almost worse than holding her with a bullet in her chest. She glanced at Chloe leaning against her, then put an arm around her as if trying to make sure she was really there.
Chloe snuggled a little more against Max when her arm went around her shoulders. She closed her eyes and smiled to herself. “You okay?”
“Uh...yeah. Yeah I’m okay.” Max kept staring at Chloe, half expecting a blood stain somewhere, then looked at one of her hands. If something happened to Chloe here, she hoped she could stop it.
Sitting up, Chloe wiped at her face. “Was I drooling or some shit?”
“Nah.” Max tried to shake herself out of it. “Just had another really weird dream, that’s all.”
“Shit. What happened?” Chloe turned to face Max, curling her own legs up and letting her chin rest on her knees. “More weird time stuff? I kinda dig Super Max.”
Max chewed on her lip. “You died again. Playing around with a gun. Then there was this train. I keep feeling like one time I’m not going to be able to rewind…”
Chloe blinked. “Why do I keep fucking dying?” She didn’t like the idea of being a damsel in distress, and it made her scrunch up her nose in disgust.
“Playing around with guns is stupid.” Max smacked Chloe in the arm, then twice more for good measure. “You’re worrying the fuck out of me.”
“Well, I’m sure I had a reason besides ‘whoop dee doo, gun’!” Chloe retorted, smacking Max in return.
“You wanted to shoot at bottles and other shit, and then the bullet ricocheted! So yeah, totally ‘whoop dee doo, gun!’” Max tried to get Chloe in a head lock. She still couldn’t get over how much her friend had changed - and yet how much she was still the same.
“But why the fuck would I get a - “ Chloe squawked and licked Max’s arm, hoping to gross her out and get her to let go.
That only made Max try to hold on tighter, only she ended up falling off of the couch and landing in a heap.
“Ow!” Chloe tumbled forward with Max, landing on top of her. “Okay, that does it.” Chloe lifted Max’s shirt up just a tiny bit and leaned forward, blowing a raspberry on the exposed bit of stomach. She knew Max was ticklish.
Max made a sound that was half laughter and half shriek. She didn’t want to hurt Chloe, so she just pushed at her head. “Noooo…! That tickles!”
Chloe looked up from Max’s hips with a grin. “Good to know that shit I did when we were ten still works.”
“Uh.” Max stared at Chloe like that, and her thoughts went elsewhere for a second, then she rolled her eyes. “You just caught me off guard, that’s all.”
“Riiiiight.” Chloe used Max’s staring into space to reach out and tickle her hips. “En garde!”
Laughing again, Max writhed her hips, reaching down to try to grab Chloe’s wrists to make her stop tickling. “Nooo I will not submit! You can’t make me submit, Dread Pirate Chloe!”
Eventually Chloe got tired and moved to flop down by Max, wrapping her arms around her. “I should get a Jolly Roger tattoo soon. When I get the cash. You can come with and keep me from getting bored.”
“Where would you put it?” Max asked. She felt warm, probably from all the tickling, but she didn’t have the energy to push Chloe away.
“Probably on my back,” Chloe murmured. She let her head rest on Max’s shoulder. “My arm’s full, and dunno, I’ll want something that’s a full sleeve on the other arm.”
“Any ideas for your arm?” Max slid hers around Chloe’s back, resting her hand on her side and her cheek on the top of Chloe’s head. This felt nice and she didn’t want to move. She knew Chloe was okay if she could touch her.
“Not yet, no.” Chloe snuggled a little closer into Max and closed her eyes. They used to fall asleep like this as kids, and Chloe was happy to discover it was still comfortable.
Max closed her eyes too, inhaling Chloe’s scent. The words came out before she could think better of them. “You smell nice.” She scrunched up her face. “Okay I didn’t mean that in a weird way.”
“Thanks?” Chloe laughed a little, her eyes still closed. “I took a shower this morning.”
Okay, this was going to get awkward. Max sighed, wriggling her toes and rubbing her thumb against Chloe’s side. “I caught you in time for your monthly clean?”
“Oh, shut up,” Chloe murmured. She blew a raspberry on Max’s neck, eyes still closed.
Squirming, Max smacked Chloe’s side. “Totally walked into that one.”
“Flopped is more like it. We should put another movie on.” Chloe yawned and snuggled closer to Max.
“Mm,” Max said. It was probably a yes, but she also didn’t want to move. So she reached for the remote. Netflix might have their movie needs and she wouldn’t have to get up to do it! “What are you in the mood for?”
“Sci-Fi? Horror?” Chloe smiled, then felt a little daring. They were besties, why not? She leaned in and kissed Max on the cheek.
Max flipped over to the first horror flick on the list, sinking more into Chloe. She glanced at her and smiled. “Prepare to have your pants scared off.”
