Who: Ezra Fitz and Stefan Salvatore When: During the Shattered Plot, after Ezra’s encounter with Anna Where: Bar What: Talking about shattered plot encounters Rating/Warnings: Low Status: Complete
Ezra had just come from a rather interesting encounter. Not a pleasant one either. Anna had literally just punched him. He was in no mood to deal with more students. What he needed was a drink. Okay maybe a few drinks. He was already headed to a bar when Stefan had texted him wanting to grab drinks. What perfect timing.
So, what the hell was up with like, all the people in Stefan’s life? Lexi and Caroline and … little Anna. And Damon? Stefan couldn’t figure out what was going on. He was really irritated at everything that his friends were doing. His brother, too, though that was nothing new. So Stefan headed to the bar to have a couple of drinks and then… maybe get a hotel. He wasn’t sure he wanted to go back home to that. Thankfully, when he’d texted Ezra, the other man had agreed to meet him.
So, at the bar they were. Beers in hand, and Stefan started on his. He’d noticed the slight redness to Ezra’s face--the hint of swelling in the other man’s nose--but hadn’t commented on it. Seems Ezra was having a rough day, too. After a sip, he set it back down on the bar and sighed. “Has the world gone absolutely insane?”
“I’m not entirely sure,” Ezra replied taking a sip of his own beer. If the dreams weren’t distracting enough there was also the fact that the tiniest things were irritating him lately. Things that he usually enjoyed, or found endearing. “Everyone seems… irritable lately,” that was the best way to put it. “Perhaps it’s the dreams catching up to us all?” it certainly made sense in his case at least.
“Tell me about it.” Stefan said, turning the glass of beer around on its coaster. He was going over the memory of his day on the beach with Caroline, her argument with Lexi. He had no idea why the women in his life were so… crazy. But it was just recently, wasn’t it? They were good friends, so it was unexpected. “I suppose so. I know they’re not my favorite thing in the world.”
Ezra had only gotten into one argument recently. With Anna. Who just might be the sweetest person he knew. Well Wendy was high up there as well, but that was different. He also hadn’t spoken to her all that recently. “Something happen?” Ezra asked raising a brow with another sip of his beer.
Stefan took a moment to try and figure out how to describe what had happened with Caroline. With Lexi. With Damon. But the words weren’t really coming to him, so he simply frowned, his brow creasing and his lower lip jutting out just a little. A thoughtful pout.
“Just that everything is irritating me lately. And it seems I’m not the only one. My friends are all snapping at me, too.” Stefan explained.
“I can relate,” Ezra agreed. “I’ve been doing my fair share of snapping too,” well just with one person. “That didn’t seem to end so well for me.”
“No?” Stefan asked, finally turning to get a good look at his would-be friend. He raised an eyebrow.
Around Ezra’s nose was still smarting from Anna’s fist, a tad swollen even. “No,” he confirmed bitterly finishing off his beer and motioning for another. “Got in an argument with,” he was sure how to describe Anna. What term fit her best? Right now he was too angry with her to try and think of the best term. “A possible student,” that was the truth at least. “Ended with her fist in my face.”
Stefan couldn’t help but imagine a teenager bopping Ezra in the nose. Or, even, a pre-teen. It was kinda funny, actually. He couldn’t help but smirk. “What’d you do to deserve that?” he asked before lifting his glass to sip from it.
The bartender brought over his drink, Ezra nodded a thanks and immediately took a sip. He had a bad day. “I may have said something about how my class is too advanced for her,” he shrugged playing it off, but now that he was repeating circumstances back, yeah he was cold. “And asked if she ever stopped smiling. You should see this girl though, it’s as if she has a smile tattooed on her face.”
“Huh,” Stefan instantly thought of Caroline. She was happy all the time, wasn’t she? And it made him feel a little cranky again. She was always so perky, grinning so much. “Yeah, I know girls like that,” He offered. then he sipped from his beer again. “Sorry you got punched, though. By a little girl.” Smirk.
