Alucard could tell something was upsetting Irisa, she was quiet and more angry than usual. That anger was making her sloppy and it was when he had to remind her to keep her guard up for the third time that he suddenly stopped and folded his arms.
“Alright. Out with it” he said with a pointed eyebrow raise.
“Nothing, fight me,” Irisa told him curtly. She wasn’t in the mood to talk. Her phone call with Nolan had left her feeling angry at the world and she didn’t want to discuss it. She tried to throw some more punches at him to get him to fight again.
Alucard moved like he was made of air, which at that moment he was, so her punches missed. "I'm not fighting you while you're angry. You're sloppy and I won't dignify that by taking you on" he told her with an air of disapproval.
“Stop being so high and mighty and fight me!” Irisa yelled at him in frustration and flailed slightly with a kick which missed it’s target. She followed up with a left and right jab which both went wide of their target.
Alucard waited until she’d finished her flailing before pinning her on the mat, “Irisa. Stop” he commanded, “Now you either talk now or we stay here until you do”
“God damnit you rat bastard!” Irisa screamed at him, struggling against his hold. “What do you care anyway? What does anyone care?!”
“Of course I care” Alucard said calmly, ignoring her struggles relatively easily, “You think I would do all this if I didn’t? Now, what’s happened?”
“Nolan happened! He’s a jerk and I hate him!” Irisa growled, renewing her struggles against him. “He doesn’t want me to know anything!”
"Nolan? Hes been in contact then" Alucard sighed, he tightened his hands on her and gave her a look. "What did he say little one?"
"He told me to stop looking!" Irisa screamed at him, looking right at him for the first time since their sparring had begun. "He told me to quit poking around because it was more trouble than it was worth," she growled and pushed Alucard off of her so she could sit up and dust herself off. "He's a jerk who doesn't want me to know anything," she grumbled.
Alucard moved off when she finally began speaking, letting her up and he sighed, “He’s protecting you” Alucard said, “He doesn’t want you to be hurt. I promise you he’s looking out for your best interests” he added softly, his tone calming and yet firm.
“Bullshit!” Irisa spat in reply, standing up and stomping over to her water bottle and towel. “I’m not a kid, it’s not his decision to make,” she told him.
“Irisa, calm down” he admonished, “You cannot claim you are not a child and throw hissy fits like this” he pointed out.
“It’s not a hissy fit,” she turned to face him angrily. “It’s my past, it should be a no brainer that I should have access to it. What’s he hiding from me?” she held her hands out as if looking for answers.
Alucard sighed, “I found something” he admitted, “That probably prompted his call. I don’t think he expected anybody to manage it. Irisa, I found your birth certificate” he told her as gently as he could.
"You...you found it?" Irisa asked, the wind somewhat taken out of her sails. "Well? What does it say?" She asked quietly.
“That’s for you to discover. If you want to” he held up his hand to stop her replying, “I don’t want your answer now. You need to take some time and think about it Irisa. Seeing it will change everything, one way or another whether you want it to or not”
“Change everything? Oh my god, what did you find? Am I like some science experiment gone wrong or something? Did Nolan get to you and warn you off too?” Irisa demanded, her anger boiling up again.
“Calm down” Alucard told her, “I found your birth certificate Irisa, of course it’s going to change everything. You’re going to open up your past. You aren’t a science experiment, I can tell you that much. And although he tried to bury everything I haven’t had any direct contact with Nolan”
“How long do I have to wait then?” Irisa grumbled, picking up her towel and rubbing it over her face, a subconscious way of hiding from the answer she was pretty sure she wouldn’t like.
"Give it a week" he said, "Think about it once you've calmed down then tell me your decision. Talk to Myrcella or something" he suggested.
“Fine,” Irisa replied sharply, grabbing her bag and marching out of the gym before she said something she regretted.
Alucard sighed but let her go. Maybe this was punishment for who he was in the dreams. He sure hadn't signed up to have a pain in the ass kid but he'd ended up with one.
