Never being one for Valentine's Day, Percy had always let the holiday, if it could be called that, pass him by without acknowledging it. He left the celebrations for the people he worked with and kept his mind on other things. Considering the case he had been working on for Ms. Sato, Percy would have gladly forgone the day once again like old habit wanted him to, if not for Marguerite. At the same time, Percy didn't want to take her to a needlessly expensive dinner and not because he didn't think she was worth it; no, it didn't seem good enough for her. It was too easy to go that route, to put no thought into it. She was worth much more than that. Just recently, he had reached the end of his dreams where he and Marguerite left France behind and were on their way to rekindling their marriage that was torn asunder by betrayals and secrets. Percy had known in that dream world that things wouldn't be perfect immediately, nor did he expect things to go that way. Their relationship had been built on a solid foundation, all they had to do was rebuild what had been torn down, and thought it would be hard work, it would be worth it because despite his declaration to cut his ties from her when he learned of her betrayal, he wasn't able to do so completely. Here, in this world, Percy was just learning to love Marguerite, even with the history that existed between them in their dreams. Earlier in the afternoon, Percy had set aside time to put together a small little collection of dishes and packed them carefully into a decent-sized carrier. Waiting until the last possible moment, he boiled water and carefully placed it into a thermos for tea later. It wasn't the most preferable way to make tea, but it would be the only way to really do so will out along the coast. Once all the food and whatnot was tucked away into the bag, he carefully wrapped it all up in a durable blanket and carried it out to his car. On his way to Marguerite's apartment, he was possessed to stop at a stand selling the typical roses and other flowers expected to be sold on Valentine's Day. What had caught his eye, however, wasn't the extraordinarily gorgeous roses but a solitary sprig of something more delicate. Speaking with the florist, she told him that it was called heather and as an afterthought, mentioned that in folklore, it was tied to faeries. She needn't say more. Reaching Marguerite's place, he knocked at the door, eager to get them to their destination so as to not miss the sunset. |
