Rogue had spent the last few days in a feverish cooking spree. She thought she'd scared her poor staff by her drive, but they were soon caught up in the fun too. There had been music playing, a spattering of types, but whenever old rock or good country crossed the airwaves she was singing and stuff while she cooked and prepped or cleaned or ran around double checking everything. To say Rogue was a nervous wreck would be a vast understatement. But it was closing in to about four, and she'd shoo'd everyone home, they could have an hour break or so, and while she only needed a couple of them to help, the rest had already decided to show up for the fun. Rogue stood in the empty cafe and looked around slowly. Everything was set, lights had been hung, wooden tables were polished. The seating was set, the counter was laid out with serving platters, no food yet, she'd finish that up at five. She grabbed the marker and wrote on the kraft paper specials menu, a warm greeting in elegant scrawl. She dusted her hands off and sighed softly, it was a long day and she was already tired. She really hoped someone brought her a case of red bull. She was going to be asleep on her feet otherwise. She slipped home long enough to change, get her hair done up and head back to get the food out on the tables. She had her hair pulled up and back wearing a white dress with black lace accents, it reached to her knees with a slit to allow for easy walking, and a pair of red and black heels that did killer things to her legs. She slipped back into the cafe, threw on her coat over the dress so she doesn't mess it up and laid out the dishes. Every table was decked out with individual servings of various foods, including: low country shrimp and grits, southern style mac and cheese (both with bacon and not, non-bacon labeled with littler cards), small bowls of baked potato soup (also with and without bacon, labeled), plates of spiced beef sandwiches, vegetarian black bean chili, Portobello-and-Zucchini tacos, dishes of gumbo and jambalaya, grilled crawfish with a side of tarragon butter, slices of apple pie, pecan pie, chocolate cream pie, platters of homemade jerky (beef, venison), among other favorites from around the country. The place smelled wonderful and rogue was happy looking as she hung up her coat, let her staff in, set out the beer choices along the counter, there were wines too. Six was here and it was time to get this party going - and she opened the doors, a smile on her face. |
