	Michael returned her smile as he placed the Nodoze back in her basket, wondering in the back of his mind if it would be a good idea to pick some of that up for himself. Michael realized after he asked the question that it might not have been the best idea. He didn't know this woman very well after all. Her comment about the bad dreams struck home. He still remembered the one he'd had shortly after moving here. How real it had felt and still felt when he thought about it. "Yeah. I can't blame you for not wanting to sleep. And I'm sorry if I was rude. I shouldn't have asked you that."

"Don't worry about it. I think in a few weeks I'll probably be having a basket that looks like that. And it's my fault. I wasn't watching where I was going."

"Oh, no, it's all right," Effie said. As if she didn't have enough to feel guilty about in her Dreams, now she was making people feel bad in real life, too? Ugh. Effie gave a little sigh and wished she had something to lean against. She was exhausted. Probably not really safe to drive home. She kept seeing a Griffle out of the corner of her eye.

"Why aren't you... sleeping?" She asked, then realized it might have been rude. "Or... nevermind. I'm sorry for asking."

	"Oh, I bet the stress is making it hard to sleep, anyway," Effie said, giving him a smile. It was a little forced. She was just glad that she didn't have to talk about her own problems. Michael had to thank his job with Audrey for helping him fine tune his ability to read people's faces and figure out how they were feeling. He could tell that the woman's smile wasn't completely genuine but he didn't want to push about it. If it had been one of his friends, he probably would have but this woman was a stranger to him. A pleasant stranger but still a stranger. "Sometimes. I'm feeling inspired tonight though. I should probably let you get back to your shopping," he said giving her a smile as he stepped out of her way.
