Renly had been meeting with different management from other stunt agencies, attempting to sway anyone he could over to Storm’s End Stunts. It had been a suggestion by his partner and Baratheon money could do an awful lot of talking when words failed. He was currently visiting the set of an action movie that was in the middle of production after having met with a manager from the stunt agency that was providing the stunt men and women for it. He already had a good amount of stunt actors and trainers who had come in, looking for jobs with his agency, but one could never have too many professionals.
He was walking along with the agent of a few of the stunt men and women for the movie, watching as they either rehearsed or filmed a scene. Soon this was going to be what he would be doing professionally and he couldn’t wait.
Kyra had just finished filming a brief fight scene and she with some of her other teammates were going over the next scene. She was very focused stuntwoman and liked to be prepared for her scenes, even if she did have some time between takes.
She hadn’t really known that Renly was in the area, nor would it have mattered. She’d learned to not worry about ‘big shots’ coming through because she was just doing what she loved. It sounded odd but she liked the physicality of it all, including getting hit. As they finished their short practice session, Kyra made to get a drink of water.
Renly wasn’t exactly a big shot, considering up until recently he’d spent the majority of his time trying to figure out what exactly he wanted to do with his life. He was still working at getting his agency off the ground so he was anything but a big shot. As the scene Kyra had been doing wrapped, the agent he was watching with led him over to her and called out to get her attention. Her agent had told him that she was good, but seeing her for himself, he thought she was more than just good.
Kyra didn’t expect to be called, but she knew her agent and as she made her way to him and the ‘new guy,’ she made sure to pick up a towel to wipe off some of the sweat. The towel was placed on her shoulder and she nodded to Renly as she was introduced to him. She extended her hand to the man, “Nice to meet you.”
“Nice to meet you too. Your agent speaks very highly of you.” Renly grinned, as he shook her hand. Unlike some other people in the business, Renly didn’t act the least bit fake and instead was naturally charming. Perhaps he didn’t possess the level of charm that Loras did, but Renly wasn’t far behind him. As he spoke to Kyra, he was genuinely interested in her, “How long have you been doing this?” He had some info from her agent, but he wanted to hear it straight from her as well.
Kyra didn’t really pay attention when her agent spoke about her. After all, he was supposed to do that but it was somewhat nice to hear about from another. The man seemed nice enough and she gave him a small smile accompanied with a nod. “I’ve been doing this for about 3 years,” she told him, before wiping her forehead again. “I would have liked to start right out of high school but my father wanted me to explore other options before I settled on stunt work.”
“That’s impressive.” Renly told her, smiling. “So, I know you’re working, so I won’t take up too much of your time, but I wanted to talk to you about possibly coming over to my new agency, Storm’s End Stunts. We’re a fledgling agency, but we have some of the best agents and backers with us. I’ve talked to your agent,” He glanced at the man beside them then back to Kyra, “And he thinks it’d be a good move for you. Of course it’s completely up to you, but I’d be happy to have you on our team.”
Kyra didn’t like discussing this kind of matter while she was on the job. Yet, she heard him out and she would talk with her agent about it. She was looking to expand her career and sometimes that meant changing things. “Well, I will consider what you have said and my agent and I will discuss this matter in much more detail soon. I certainly can’t make you any promises but it was a pleasure to meet you and only time will tell if I will meet you again,” she told him in a calm manner.
Renly smiled, nodding, “That’s perfectly fine.” He wasn’t the type to push someone to make a decision right there on the spot or bribe them in any way like his father would have and like his brothers might do. Renly wanted anyone to was to work with to make the decision on their own and not be bullied into it, “I hadn’t expected an answer right away, but I did want to meet you and your agent suggested I come down here to see you at work. I would have waited to actually come out with my offer, but I couldn’t help myself.”
Kyra nodded, knowing somewhat how this kind of thing worked. It did make the most sense to see a potential client in person. “I understand,” she said, a small smile on her lips. “I’m sorry, I don’t believe that I caught your name,” she added.
“Renly Baratheon,” He said, extending his hand once again. Her agent had introduced them, but Renly could understand how she may not have caught his name at that moment since she’d just gotten finished with a scene and had seemed out of breath. “If you decide that you are interested, we could go out for lunch and discuss details.”
Kyra nodded as she heard the man’s name. It was certainly something that she’d have trouble remembering but she was sure her agent would have a card or something from the man. “I will keep you posted, Mr. Baratheon.” He gave him another soft smile before she excused herself to get back to work.
