What: Wrex invites the doc over for a talk, and threatens a teenage boy. More TBD.

Wrex stood in his office, leaning against his desk. He had his Most Intimidating Face on, while he looked at a kid standing in front of him, who was looking at Alma like she was a delicious snack.

He didn't need anyone looking at Alma like she was a delicious snack. But he was trying to control his genuine worry for her and annoyance with her potential date, for her benefit. So he turned his gaze back to the guy, and stared him down.

"You go to the place. No detours, no pit stops. You do something decent for kids your age to be doing. Movies, walking around a mall, getting lunch, or dinner, arcade games. NO parking anywhere secluded. You come straight home. No detours."

He uncrossed his arms and took a sip of his coffee, then pointed at the boy, "Your hands touch her hand or her arm to escort her like a gentleman should. They don't touch anywhere else, and I WILL know. No kissing. No making out in the movies. You treat her like a Lady. Are we clear?"

It really had sounded like a military dressing-down of sorts, and Wrex wondered, not for the first time, if they should have just kept him around and made him into a drill sgt. He probably would have rocked at being a drill sgt.

"... are you sure you can handle this?" He sounded for a second like a worried Father, and certainly looked like one, "I don't know if it's safe, but I don't want you thinking you can't live your life, either. You're handling that zen stuff. I noticed, and I'm proud."

He really was. He grinned a bit, in fact, then added, "That doctor lady you met before is coming in today if you want to talk to her."

	Wrex's lips thinned into a line, "That's something you didn't need to tell me about... It's more something you share with a doctor, or... Those were all things about her he wanted to make sure she never forgot about. The dreams were maybe real - he had kroger armor in his closet, after all - but they didn't HAVE to be real. He didn't HAVE to become a gigantic angry turtle man.

He did have to somehow deal with the fact that this girl under his protection was going to go out on a date, though, and that was terrifying somehow.

Gruffly, he asked, "Do you have anything to wear to this...thing?"

Wrex looked her over, and he shook his head, "It's been a while, but dates are kind of special, even if you just get lunch. You'll need something nicer to wear. Not TOO nice, but. Not a dress, no."

He didn't at all know how to handle that, but decided he'd ask Shepard, or maybe Moira when she arrived.

"I'll think of something," he added, then tilted his head, "Do you know the term in local parentis?"

"I probably do have one of the words wrong. It sounded wrong on my head, like spanish for crazy." Wrex shrugged, "It means that when you need a dad, I get to act like one. If there's an emergency, if something's wrong and you need to go to the hospital. Decisions about your care until you grow up. I'm the guy responsible for you."

He sounded like he was gruff and grumpier about it than he really was, but he wanted to make something clear, "I wanted to ask you first, but there wasn't a lot of time."

The grown man obviously had some specs of dust in his eyes as he hugged Alma to him and patted her back a bit. They made his eyes look all weepy, like he was about to have a feel over the whole thing.

Then he noticed Moira in the doorway, and his brain went sideways. He also tried to hide his eyes by looking down into Alma's hair, instead.

"Kid deserves a good guardian is all," He announced.

"I had some concerns, yes," Wrex rocked Alma a bit in his arms. Hell. He'd never raised her and she didn't share his DNA, but he didn't even care. That kid on that date better watch his hands because they'd be removed.

"Her hormones were suppressed for a long time, so she never dealt with the ramp up when she was younger. The zen thing seems to work for now, but..." He patted her shoulder, "She needs a break. And she needs to be able to... act on certain impulses safely ... without making my entire ranch go crazy."

He looked at Moira like he hoped she understood what he meant, because he didn't want to further explain with Alma standing right there.

"Anything you can do, Doc? And the tests you took. She's healthy?"

I've been doin' some work, with help from a cousin, that may or may nae help her. I brought a prototype along tae test. But I have tae warn ye there are risks. Headaches, certainly." "Yeah ... thanks for that," Wrex shot Alma a look like he still didn't ever need to hear her say that word, then listened to Moira talk.

She really could read him ... just about anything, and he'd listen. Not that that was a good idea, because 'NO' was clearly tattooed on his ring finger, and it's not like she couldn't see that. And anyway, what in the hell was he feeling. Why did she need to OCH so many times when she was here last?

But the priority right now was Alma, and he didn't like the sound of that one bit, nope, "That doesn't sound safe. What other risks?"

She could see it, and it was a little disappointing. But she could understand a little bit, the need to tattoo no on one's finger.

"Och.. T'thing is this is sae new an' designed for people with a different type o'genetic signature. Alma's powers from from somethin' different. I can alter 'device to work with her, but I cannae say the full risks. It could burn her out if she has it on constantly, or for tae long at any one time."

"Alma, you're not going to become that person," Wrex frowned. He couldn't even promise her that she wouldn't. His own dreams had been ridiculous, but they were proving to be true. Everything he'd known was wrong.

He weighed it in his head - the kid was brave and willing to risk herself like that, and maybe it would give her peace of mind, too. How much was peace of mind worth? He raised up his hands, finally, like he was giving in.

"Let's try it temporarily. Small doses. You're only a phonecall away if we need you, right?"
