The official Hale party had ended, due to children needed to go to bed and Derek needing to get home to his puppy. Since he was the one who had invited Stiles, he'd driven him there, figuring it was the polite thing to do.

So he hops into the Camaro and glances over at Stiles, feeling some weirdly familiar end-of-date butterflies, which he dismisses quickly since this isn't the end of a date. It's not a date at all, really. Just saying thanks for the awesome Christmas present.

"Do you want to stop by and say hi to Thor? We can watch the ball drop in New York, if you want." Peter had given him an extra bottle of champagne to take home, since they'd bought too many for the party, so there's that, anyway.

Not that he should be giving a minor alcohol, but one glass of champagne isn't awful, right?

Or maybe he's a terrible person, shit.

	He takes a few more drinks of his champagne and it calms his nerves some, sitting this close to Derek. "A couple. I'm totally going to make Co-captain this year," he says with a grin. "I mean, if not by the end of this school year then definitely when it starts up again in the fall. I'm already first line, it's just another hop, skip and jump away."
