The official Hale party had ended, due to children needed to go to bed and Derek needing to get home to his puppy. Since he was the one who had invited Stiles, he'd driven him there, figuring it was the polite thing to do.

So he hops into the Camaro and glances over at Stiles, feeling some weirdly familiar end-of-date butterflies, which he dismisses quickly since this isn't the end of a date. It's not a date at all, really. Just saying thanks for the awesome Christmas present.

"Do you want to stop by and say hi to Thor? We can watch the ball drop in New York, if you want." Peter had given him an extra bottle of champagne to take home, since they'd bought too many for the party, so there's that, anyway.

Not that he should be giving a minor alcohol, but one glass of champagne isn't awful, right?

Or maybe he's a terrible person, shit.

Stiles had a BLAST at the party and was more thankful than ever that Derek invited him. He had a lot of fun and got along with everyone. The Hales had always liked him, really, even if they all didn't know each other that well.

Leaning back in the seat Stiles looks over at Derek, surprised. A light flush crosses his cheeks as he nods. "Yeah, I'd like that. And I can't ever pass up an opportunity to see Thor. I still think it's awesome that you named him that," he says, grinning.

	Derek shrugs a little, but he's pleased that Stiles is happy with the name he picked. "He looks like a Thor. It's a big name, but he'll grow into it. Anyway, the kids fell asleep earlier than I thought they would, so I feel like I owe you the second half of a party. We could grab something to eat if you're hungry." "Now we're talking." They manage to find a drive through that's open on New Year's Eve and he gets them both cheeseburgers (with extra curly fries).

When they get home, Derek fusses Thor outside into the little back yard behind his complex, and Thor runs around yipping happily because being cooped up in his kennel was no fun. Derek sneaks him a fry or two, because it's a party.

	Stiles parks himself on the ground with his food spread out in front of him and a grin on his face as he watches Derek with Thor and maybe sneaks a picture or two because it's seriously adorable and he might have it as his phone's background now. "You're going to spoil him." But he's smiling as he turns the TV on to watch the count down. They've got a little while left to go, but they can play with Thor and hang out and have dinner.

Thor tries to wriggle onto his lap the moment Derek settles on the couch with his food, and Derek has to make himself push the puppy back onto the floor instead of automatically snuggling him.

"He might get his own seat. But the sofa is for people." Derek whistles the puppy over and scratches under his chin, then ruffles his ears.

"So um, Uncle Peter pushed a bottle of champagne on me. Do you want a glass?" He feels a lot dirtier than maybe he should, offering alcohol to Stiles. But he's always been allowed a glass of champagne for New Years, this isn't any different, right?

	Stiles slowly inches a little bit closer, pretends it's just him getting comfortable as he takes sips from his glass. He can't help but snort a little at that. 	He takes a few more drinks of his champagne and it calms his nerves some, sitting this close to Derek. "A couple. I'm totally going to make Co-captain this year," he says with a grin. "I mean, if not by the end of this school year then definitely when it starts up again in the fall. I'm already first line, it's just another hop, skip and jump away."
