Who: Castiel and Sam Winchester, Deryn
When: Saturday (late november)
Where: Sam and Deryn’s new house! And Deryn’s old apartment
What: Moving
Rating/Warning: None.
Status: Complete
Moving really was a lot easier with angelic powers, Castiel noted as he settled down yet another box of kitchen supplies on the new counter of Sam’s house. The way the box clinked and clanked, he could only assume that Sam’s girlfriend Deryn owned more baking sheets than any one person really needed. He was reminded a little absently of his older brother who seemed to have the same problem.
He huffed out a little noise, popped out of existence and landed back in Deryn’s old apartment, still a mound of boxes. “I think that’s the last of the kitchen things,” he informed his brother in law and his tiny, tiny girlfriend who had taken to clapping delightedly every time he reappeared out of thin air.
Sam wasn’t used to Cas’ appearing out of nowhere in this world, even though he was absolutely used to it in the dream world. He gave a little nod, having just finished packing and taping up… some box or other. Clothes? Linens? He wasn’t sure. It was all a blur now, after having packed up so much stuff. How did she have this much stuff? He was sure he didn’t have this much stuff.
“Thanks.” He said, giving Cas a smile. “This is so much easier with your… you know… poof.” He lifted his hand and mimed a firework with his fingers.
Although Castiel didn’t think of it much like fireworks, he got what Sam was saying and only offered an indulgent half smile and a roll of his shoulders into a shrug. “It’s more economical than renting a truck,” he said patiently. “Lawyer or otherwise, I’m certain you could stand to save some money after purchasing a home.”
“I wish I could teleport,” Deryn said, sounding wistful and wiggling her way underneath one of Sam’s arms and effectively taking a break from stacking boxes. “You’re awesome.”
“You have a point.” Sam said, giving a nod. “Not hiring movers is gonna save us at least a few hundred dollars, if not a bit more. And this seems faster.” He turned to press a kiss into Deryn’s hair after she wriggled her way under his arm.
Castiel only nodded, like he was well aware that was the case -- it was, in fact, why he’d said it. “I.. am unsure where to put the next things. Perhaps if you’re done here, you’d like to be there instead? To direct where things go?”
Deryn? Deryn looked sickly interested in the prospect of getting a magic teleporting ride. “Yesssss.”
Sam grinned at the response that Deryn gave to the suggestion that they travel with Cas. He nodded, nearly chuckling. “It’s probably a good idea. I think we’ve got everything here.”
Castiel was only pleased that someone seemed excited to travel in his preferred method, considering that Dean seemed to hate it. Some things, he supposed, were very similar to the dreams. That was one of them. He nodded, offering Sam’s girlfriend a smile before settling his index and middle fingers on both of their foreheads and they blinked out of existence and then back into it in their new home.
Deryn just stared in absolute wonder before offering Sam a gummy, bright smile. “We have to do that more.” she said, like it was absolutely her choice.
Sam found it a little more disorienting than he found it in the dreams, but not so much that he was thrown off balance. He looked around and turned to Deryn with a smile. “Maybe every time we see Cas we can beg him to take us somewhere awesome.” Sam kidded, talking about Cas as if he wasn’t standing right there.
Cas, of course, was standing right there though, and only frowned slightly and cocked his head to the side as if to point out that that was the case. “I took Dean to France recently,” he said, and he supposed it could be perceived as an offer.
Deryn was already half preoccupied with rearranging a mess of boxes, but looked up at Sam, and then Castiel, bright eyes wide. “We should go to France, Sam,” she murmured, thinking about eiffel towers and little tortes.
Sam gave a little laugh. “All right. Let’s go to France.” He wasn’t thinking about going to France right this minute, but the idea was appealing. He stepped into the kitchen to start unloading some things that Cas had brought over earlier.
Standing there awkwardly, Castiel wasn’t sure if that meant he was supposed to be taking them to France or what. Based on the way Sam walked away, he supposed not.
“Later,” Deryn said, as if reading him, and if that wasn’t weird he didn’t know what was. He nodded, moved a box out of the walkway for them. It was a lot of clutter, and he knew how that sort of went but it was a little hard to stand looking at. So he just paid attention to his shoes.
“Sammm,” Deryn bounced out of the room to follow Sam. “Where’s Mr. Spock going to go?”
“We do have a bit of unpacking to do,” Sam said, poking his head out of the kitchen after a moment. He glanced around. “I don’t know… where do you want Mr. Spock to go?”
“In the living room,” Deryn said, as if that had been obvious and she didn’t know why she’d asked in the first place. “You unpack. I’ll introduce Mr. Spock to Cas!”
Castiel pointedly made himself busy poking through boxes.
Sam simply chuckled, giving Cas a ‘good luck’ sort of look, then went back into the kitchen to continue unpacking. Though, this really should be Deryn’s job, he thought he was doing just fine.
