Who: Cassandra Cain and Simon aka Raven Darkholme When: Backdated: Monday, November 18th. Afternoon Where: The Gym What: Gymnastics and kissing Rating: Mostly Family Friendly Status: Complete
Cass was no longer compelled to tell the truth, which meant she was back at the gym. She’d taken a few days off the previous week, because she hadn’t wanted to embarrass herself in front of Simon by accidently saying the wrong thing, so she’d texted him and told him she wasn’t feeling well and wouldn’t be around. Saturday morning, when she’d realized she was no longer answering any question truthfully, she’d texted him again to tell him she’d be at the gym Monday morning bright and early and that if he came at the certain time they’d have some time alone for a little while.
Now here she was, showing off just a little bit on the uneven bars. Not only was her shoulder and collarbone completely healed from her accident a few months earlier, but thanks to her dreams she was even stronger than before. As she dismounted, she stuck it then turned towards Simon, “So? What’d you think?”
It was a pity, though. Mystique loved to put people on the spot and Cass would have been delicious. But that was okay.
She showed up as Simon to watch her perform, then grinned. “I think you’re doing great, Cass!” Maybe he could show off a bit too, but he wasn’t as good as Cass. At least not in this form, anyway.
She grinned as she hopped off the mat and approached Simon, “I missed this so much when I broke my collarbone.” For a short while she hadn’t been sure if she was even going to continue, but after long talks with her coach she’d decided that going into coaching herself was probably the best course of action for her once she was healed and that was what she had recently started doing.
“I’m glad youre doing it again.” He touched her arm lightly, just a gentle rubbing of his palm. “Even if it’s just for yourself.”
“Me too. I thought about giving it up for awhile, but I’ve been doing it for so long that I’d miss it too much.” She might not have been competing anymore, but she couldn’t just stop. As he touched her arm, goosebumps arose along her skin and she gave him a shy smile before glancing back towards the equipment, “Now it’s your turn to show me something.”
He grinned at her, then made his way over to the bars. Mystique subtely shifted her muscles and her bones, making Simon much more flexible and with greater upper body strength than he would have otherwise. She figured she could sacrifice leg strength for the duration of this exercise.
Hopping up, Simon started to give Cass a show!
As she watched, Cass couldn’t help but think that he was so much better than he gave himself credit for. She didn’t see why he wouldn’t want to do gymnastics as a career, but she wasn’t about to be like her father and try to push him to do more than he wanted. When he was finished, she clapped, smiling, “You’re awesome. Seriously. That was great.” If only she’d known the real reason he’d been so good. Then she wouldn’t be quite so impressed.
He grinned at her and had to resist the urge to hug her. “Thanks! I’ve been practicing.” Read: spending a lot of time studying gymnastics so she could replicate the moves.
And also hot guys and girls being flexible and strong.
“Well it shows. You’re totally underestimating yourself, you know. I bet you could totally qualify for the Olympics.” Okay, so maybe she was just a tiny bit pushy, but she could see a lot of potential in him and hated to think that he’d let an opportunity pass him by, “Are you planning on competing in anything coming up?”
“I’ll think about it. I just don’t want all that pressure, you know? I do it for fun, not to beat people. Because...well if I competed then I’d have to compete to win and I don’t like who I turn into when I get competative.”
“What happens when you get competitive?” She asked, curious now about what he meant. She didn’t think she changed at all when she competed, but she knew that some people would do whatever they had to in order to win.
He smiled sheepishly. “I become an ass.”
“Oh come on. I couldn’t imagine you as an ass.” Cass smirked, shaking her head. He seemed so nice that she just couldn’t picture it.
Simon laughed and shook his head. “That’s why I don’t compete! I’d rather not ruin my good impression with you.”
Cass’ smirk transformed slowly into a full smile, “Unless you actually killed someone to try and place, I don’t think you’d fall from my good graces.” She was far too smitten with Simon for that to happen. That was probably Cass’ big flaw; she fell much too quickly when it came to guys who showed her any sort of affection and if she was a shrink they would probably say it had something to do with her parents. Didn’t it always come back to the parents?
He laughed and took her hand. It was a little impulsive it seemed but hey, he could be impulsive around a pretty girl! “What do I have to do to convince you to” Sleep with me “Go on a fancy date?”
Cass’ smile widened a little more as he took her hand, “How exactly does going on a fancy date convince me that you turning into an ass wouldn’t ruin my good impression of you?” Not that she’d say no to a fancy date of course. She was just curious about his train of thought.
“Uh. I’m still working on that part.” He grinned sheepishly and rubbed her knuckles with his thumb. He seemed to really like doing that, and he shifted a little on his feet. That ‘i want to jump you but I’m being polite’ kind of antsy.
Cass bit her bottom lip as she watched Simon’s thumb rub over her knuckles then glanced up at him and without thinking, she leaned forward and pressed a kiss to his lips. She hadn’t made the first move with anyone else, but she’d had the urge to do that for awhile and now seemed as good a time as any.
Victory! Simon shivered and let his lips press back against Cass's. Just enough to let her know he was totally okay with this, but not enough to make her want to flee.
It was a little strange, to be the one who initiated the first kiss, but it felt good as well. While she wasn’t entirely sure what to do with her hands, Cass returned his kiss for a moment or two before she pulled back, a small smile upon her lips, “I’ve wanted to do that for awhile.” She admitted, surprised that she didn’t feel her cheeks flushing.
“Wow…” He grinned dumbly at her before reaching up and tucking some hair behind her ear. It seemed like ‘wow’ summed it up, but he added. “I feel like I should say something profound, but wow.”
Cass couldn’t suppress the giggle that escaped her lips and she brought her hand up to cover her mouth for a moment, “I...I think wow is good.” She was smirking when she lowered her hand, brown eyes flicking from his eyes to his lips and back, already thinking about kissing him again.
Simon seemed to be on the same page, because he leaned in, fingers sliding across her cheek and into her hair as he kissed her. More confident this time. Almost like he knew what he was doing. Almost. Mystique was careful to put some hesitation into it.
As Simon’s fingers slid across her cheek it were as if all her nerve endings were alive and a shiver went down her spine as their lips met again. She wasn’t any more experienced at this than he was, or so she thought. She’d really only ever kissed Gavroche and there had been that time with Logan, but most of the kissing she’d ever done had been with Gav and that had always been extremely hesitant on his part. With Simon though, there was a little less hesitation, which was nice and easy to keep up with.
He tried to deepen the kiss, lead her down the rabbit hole as it were.Take her as far as she dared and then just a little bit farther to make her think on it and want it and turn it over in her head until the next time they were together.
Cass’ heart was beating so fast, as Simon deepened the kiss, that she was pretty sure he would be able to feel it through her chest. She’d been wanting to do this almost since they met and now that they were finally kissing, Cass didn’t want it to stop. She knew that it would have to eventually, but until someone else came in or she absolutely needed to breath, she wasn’t going to let this end.
Simon had seemingly forgotten where they were. There was only kissing the girl, and kissing the girl was such an awesome thing. He pressed against her, certain effects from her starting to become, aheh, noticeable.
Inwardly Mystique was trying to not burst out laughing.
The effects were definitely noticeable and it caused Cass to pull away slightly, cheeks flushed. She wasn’t sure if she should mention it or just overlook it, but with her luck it’d be brought up and she’d be even more embarrassed than she’d ever been.
“Uh ah….” Simon rubbed the back of his neck and tried to not look as embarrassed as he was supposed to be feeling. But he clearly was failing.
Cass bit her bottom lip, unsure of exactly what she was supposed to say now. In a way she was flattered that she would have that effect on him, but at the same time she had no idea what she was supposed to do in this situation, “So, um...that was nice.”
“Yeah…” His voice was breathy and he clearly needed to sit down or something. He’d prefer the ‘or something’ judging by the want in his eyes.
