Scud would rather be a pet than cattle ([info]scud_like_stud) wrote in [info]valarlogs,

Who: Scud + Alec
What:  Drinking.
When: Evening, 10/4
Where: Lo's place. Scud lives there. I guess it's his place too by proxy.
Rating: Hedonistic
Status:  Ongoing

Sometimes Scud worried about his pal Alec. Seriously, the kid needed to loosen up some. Have a good laugh, maybe ten drinks too many and just chill out a little bit. How someone so young could manage to be so uptight and angst constantly was seriously beyond him.

There was little else to do beyond provide some semblance of friendship and support. Which, okay, yeah, kind of laughable considering this was Scud, but if the mechanic was good at anything, it was being stupidly chill to the point of just lazy. Also being a semi-bad influence, but fuck it, fun was important.

He'd never actually had a friend over here before, and he wondered if he was meant to feel weird about it. It was Lo's house. But his too, sorta. Since he lived here and all. He'd just make sure they behaved about it. Sit by the pool or something.

He sat outside on the overly large front step and smoked while he waited.

Alec really needed to let himself get distracted. Things with Magnus had been 'cleared' up but he was still feeling rather out of it. He missed dancing and getting the attention but he was sure that if he had stayed, things with Magnus would have ended. It did make him wonder if he'd made the correct choice; after all, he'd had the job just as long as he'd known Magnus.

He pulled up in his car and slowly got out. He saw Scud on the front step and waved at him before locking his car. At least, his friend would help him for the night. "Hey there," he said, crossing his arms loosely. "Been out here long?"

"Nah," Scud put his smoke out in a little can set aside for just that purpose and pushed himself up to his feet with a crooked grin for greeting. "Just long enough." Even if he had been waiting for a while (which he hadn't), he wouldn't have told Alec so. The guy was already too high strung, one more concern might break the camel's fuckin' back with this guy.

"C'mon in. Don't be intimidated by the ridiculousness of this fuckin' place." Because seriously, Lo's place was ridiculous. In a very nice, way too spacious sort of way, of course.

The place was rather large but Alec wasn't too intimidated by it. It helped that he had other things on his mind. He followed after his friend, starting to think that he should have brought something...like snacks. However, it was too late for that now.

"So, is your guy around?" he asked, wondering if he'd become the third wheel at some point. It would be a little rough being around a couple but he'd manage. If anything, he'd end up calling or texting Magnus...so maybe this would be good for him. "I haven't met him, yet, you know..." Although, Scud hadn't met Magnus either.

"Not actually sure." Scud laughed at that, shrugging and leading the way into the kitchen and opening the fridge in order to find some beer. He preferred the stronger drinks, honestly, but if Alec had only drunk once, it was probably safer to start with something a little less... alcoholic. "This place is big enough where if we don't look for each other, we don't necessarily see each other for a day or so." Scud even had his own room, which might have been a bit weird, but he liked it.

He popped the lids off the beers with the back end of his lighter and handed one over. "If you really wanna meet him, I can call him. But it ain't like you can't some other day." Scud was sure of that: neither he or Lo were really going anywhere. They were like… a couple. And shit.

Alec was a little amused at the fact that Scud didn't know where his 'boyfriend' was. Of course, he knew that couples didn't always keep tabs on the others; hell, he didn't know what Magnus was up to at this moment.

He followed after Scud and casually accepted the beer. He was still getting used to the taste of beer but it was certainly something that he didn't mind drinking. "Nah, I don't want to bother him...I'm sure that we'll all meet at another time." He wasn't in dire need of meeting the other man, so he didn't mind meeting. "So, how's your day been?"

Scud didn't need to know where Lo was. They had a good arrangement. They hung out when they wanted, slept together when they wanted and basically had a pretty great relationship. Basically, they both just liked their space, and acted on promise and trust that nothing weird was going on otherwise. Scud had swore off sleeping with the whole of California for the other man, after all.

Scud only shrugged, leaning against the kitchen counter and lighting a smoke lazily. "Pretty okay. Took the day off. My shop ain't open yet anyway, so figured I might as well while I could, right?"

Alec was completely new to relationships, and maybe that's why he was trying rather hard to make this one work, not that being with Magnus was difficult. He was just a bit naive about these things, since he'd really only read about romance in book or watched them in movies. He lacked an real experience, and not just in romance.

"So, is it really a day off if your shop isn't open?" he questioned, after taking a long sip from his beer. "Not that it's a bad thing to do. I've had plenty of days off lately, though...as I'm waiting to hear back from places I applied at. Although, I'm not really sure I want to get hired by any of those places."

Scud only stuck his tongue out at Alec, completely disregarding his version of semantics because no one even liked semantics, man. He took another slow drag of his smoke, and then followed it up with a swallow of beer. Really, he liked his vices.

"Dude, A," he said, sympathetic and more caring than he'd probably usually let on. "If you don't want one 'a them jobs, don't even bother to take one. Seriously. It ain't worth it to be unhappy and then feel stuck just because you felt pressured. Find somethin' you wanna do."

Alec leaned against the counter as he watched and listened to his friend. It was weird to be in control of his life; he'd been somewhat a passenger in his life that he'd only considered doing what he was expected to do, rather than what he wanted to do.

"I get what you are saying, but I need to bring in money so I'm not being totally dependent on my savings account." Not that his savings account was running low but he wanted to use that for emergencies; and it felt better spending money that he earned. "If that means having a sucky job...so be it."

"I guess," Scud made a face at that, and then turned around until he found an ashtray. "It just sucks to do shit you don't like, y'know. I guess don't get stuck in anything, then, right?"

He boosted himself up on the counter top and then made a vague gesture to the rest of the kitchen. "Hungry? Feel free t'raid whatever."

"Story of my life..." he commented before taking a long drink. At home, he had to hide who he really was. Hell, his parents still didn't know about his sexuality and he wasn't sure when he'd get around to telling them. He knew that Izzy wouldn't spill his secret to them but he knew that at some point, they deserved to hear the truth. He pushed those thought away and glanced around the kitchen.

"Nah, I'm not really hungry right now. I'll do my best to remember that, though...for later." He sighed and gave Scud a small smile. "What's there to do for fun in this place?" he asked, wanting to get off such 'heavy' subjects.

It was like the exact opposite of Scud's life -- but then, Scud had taken the cowardly way out and just left before he was old enough to even legally do so. And then he'd just kept going. Stopping had been hard. One of the hardest things he'd ever done, really.

"S'cool," Scud said, rubbing his smoke out in the ashtray and hopping off the counter. "We gotta pool. You like swimming?"

Alec hadn't brought anything to swim in. He didn't even know that it was an option until now. However, he gave a shrug. Drinks and swimming seemed like a nice idea. "Well...I don't have a swim suit with me. If you'd have told me about this before I came, I would have brought some." He did have some shorts back t his place,, and he even had a slightly skimpy one that he was planning to use the next time that he went swimming with Magnus.

"So, unless, you have something I could wear..." He gave another shrug and then took a drink.

If Alec hadn't mentioned he got flirty when he was drunk, or if Scud wasn't a well behaved member of society these days, he probably would have just gone for nude. But both of those things were a thing so he just shrugged lazily and gave Alec a look. "I live here. I think it's possible t'find a pair of shorts for you, man."

"Sure...then, I guess swimming it is." He said as he moved away from the counters and glanced around. "Which way to the fun?" he asked, as he began to head for the kitchen exit.

"The fun?" Scud giggled -- actually giggled -- before grabbing the rest of his six pack from the fridge and half motioning for Alec to follow him. "I'm the fun. The pool's over there." He gave a vague gesture before ending up in his bedroom (slightly messy, comics on the floors and a bottle of whiskey on the nightstand. But the bed was made and there were no clothes on the floor, which Scud felt had to count for something) and digging one handed through a dresser and finding swim trunks. They were both fairly slender dudes, there was no reason they shouldn't fit.

"Black? Yeah. Here ya go, A."

Alec couldn't help but let out a laugh at Scud's comment. It was funny, he had to admit. "Oh, you're the fun? That would explain a lot..." he joked as he followed the man to the bedroom. The room was fairly clean; it was certainly about as clean as Alec's was most days. Although, Alec didn't have the alcohol on his nightstand. However, he wasn't judging Scud for it.

His attention went back to his friend who had found him some trunks. "Thanks..." he said taking them. "Where can I change?" Even if they were friends, he still wasn't comfortable stripping down in front of Scud. There was a line and he didn't want to make things weird.

It would explain a lot, wouldn't it? Scud was resolutely sure that he was actually a pretty fun guy, and so only lifted his eyebrows and gave a lopsided sort of smile in reply.

"There's a bathroom right across the hall," he pointed, setting the beer down on the floor and flopping down onto his bed in a way that said he'd just sit here. Quietly. Waiting.

He was good like that.

Alec crossed the hallway and changed into the trunks that he'd been given. He made sure to fold up his clothes and carried them as he exited the bathroom. "So, where can I store these?" he asked. His phone was in his pants pocket but he figured it was better to keep it away from the water. He was here to have fun and the phone would only distract him from that.
