Vala pushed open the door to Audrey’s bakery, looking forward to trying one of the sparkling lattes Billy had told her about and catching up with Audrey. Looking around, she was glad to see that there were a fair few people in the shop, but it wasn’t jam-packed which meant that she could more than likely grab a few minutes with Audrey. Heading up to the counter, she ordered a sparkling latter from the lad behind the counter, casting him a wink and a teasing look as he blushed at her flirting. She asked where Audrey was and he pointed her over to one side of the shop, she smiled and thanked him, winking one last time before heading over. “Audrey? Hi, it’s Vala,” she smiled.
Audrey was sitting at one of the tables in the lobby with some paperwork. Ordering. She was going to up some things and down some things, and she wanted to get all of her ducks in a row. When she heard her name, though, she lifted her head then broke into a bright smile. “Vala? Oh, yes! Hello, Vala. How are you, Love?”
“Hi, I’m good thanks for asking,” Vala grinned in return. “Yourself? Would you mind if I…?” she asked, referring to the chair opposite Audrey.
“Oh, no, not at all!” Audrey said, giving the other woman a smile. “Please, come sit. Can I get you something? We’ve got some pretty amazing sparkling lattes. They go swimmingly with the almond biscotti.”
"As a matter of fact that's one of the reasons I'm here!" Vala grinned as she sat down. "A young man I met recently told I had to come in and try them," she told Audrey. "Thank you, I'd love to try one!"
“Which young man is that?” Audrey asked, her eyes glinting at that idea. “Hold that thought, though.” She hopped up from the table and moved around the case behind the counter. A minute later she was back with some biscotti and a latte for Vala. She set the items down, then sat herself in her chair once more. “Here you go!”
"That's amazing!" Vala grinned at the drink in delight. "Thank you!" she picked up her biscotti, ready to dunk the end in the latte. "His name was Billy, he works for a girl called Zelda, which is incidentally why I'm here," she winked at Audrey. "But he recommended them highly," she told her, taking a bite of her dunked biscotti.
“Zelda Hyrule?” Audrey asked. When the celebrity had come into the shop, it’d made all of her employees buzz. Of course, Audrey didn’t really follow the tabloids all that much, she barely knew why the young woman was famous. Maybe because she was rich. Audrey had no idea how closely she was tied to Zelda, through Link. “Wow, that’s… thank him for me. And thank her, if you get the chance.”
“Well, you can thank them yourself if you like, they’re kind of the reason I’m here,” Vala laughed, popping her biscotti on the saucer next to the latte. “That is gorgeous,” she complimented the biscotti.
“Next time I talk to them, I will.” Audrey said, giving Vala a smile. “Why, thank you,” she added, grinning at the compliment. “Tell me more about why you’re here. More work for me?” She’d already catered a bunch of things for Vala, so it wouldn’t surprise her if Vala had more work for her.
“Absolutely!” Vala told he happily. “There’s no-one I’d go to first than my favourite bakery,” she winked. “I’ve got a couple of events actually, first one is for Zelda’s 21st birthday party, so like I said you can thank her yourself,” Vala grinned at her, picking up her latte to take a sip. “Oh wow! That is divine!” her eyelids fluttered as she savoured the sip.
Audrey laughed and clapped. “My job here is done.” She said, grinning. “Okay. Zelda’s 21st? Ooh, sounds like fun! What’s the plan? When’s the party? What’s the theme?” She asked in rapid succession, digging through her papers for an order form to take notes.
Vala laughed at that. "Ok ok, just a sec," she grinned as she dug out her ipad for the details. "28th of september is the party date Zelda and I discussed, is that do-able?"
“Absolutely.” Audrey said, opening her notebook. If she already had something scheduled for that day, she’d make it work. She could always hire on some more staff to help her. Thankfully, she had nothing else scheduled that weekend. “What’s the theme? And where? Just cake, or do you want the full catering service?”
“If you can do full catering that would be great!” Vala grinned, bringing up the picture of the straws that Zelda had shown her. “The theme’s all candy and gingerbread houses,” she smiled. “Think you can work your magic on it?”
“Absolutely.” Audrey looked at the picture. “Oooh, that’s wonderful! I can do all sorts of things with that.” She beamed. “You betcha. Do you want a full meal, or snacks and desserts?”
“I’m thinking more buffet style,” Vala said, curious to know Audrey’s opinion as well. “There’ll be entertainment there and with them being so young and everything I imagine they’ll have so much energy they won’t really want to be sitting down,” she joked.
Audrey chuckled. “Agreed. I’ll start playing with recipes that are candy themed. We’ll definitely have some good, solid foods along with sweets and snacks, and, of course, the world’s most amazing birthday cake.” She was beaming at this point, her eyes twinkling at the idea.
“Excellent, I knew you’d like this one,” Vala winked at her and sipped her coffee.
