Jubilee leaned against the doorframe, waiting for Cass to come to the door. She was feeling measurably better now, and she wanted to cheer Cass up (and get some more cheer herself, if she wanted to be honest with herself).
Thus.
Clubbing.
At a lesbian bar.
The Hotness kept her word.
Cass didn’t know about any of this. Going to the strip club with Logan had been one thing, but going to lesbian bar with Jubilee was another. When she’d gone to the strip club, she’d had a crush on Logan so even though she was nervous, it hadn’t been so bad. It was harder to say no to Jubilee though and before she knew it, she was being convinced to go with Jubilee and found herself in the same black dress she’d worn to the strip club.
She really didn’t think this was going to help her, because she was still upset over Bod having to leave, just when they were making plans to go out on a date and she really didn’t think she’d suddenly decide that she was a lesbian after one night at the bar, but she would humor Jubilee and have a few drinks and try not to think about what horrible luck she had with guys.
Hearing the bell, she grabbed her wristlet and headed to the door, “Alright. Lets get this over with.”
“Hot.” Jubilee hugged onto her. “Look, worse comes to worse we leave and get ice cream.” She had to keep living, had to not let things crush her, and this was more important to her than she’d realized. Even if it ended in ice cream and not a date for Cass.
Cass hugged Jubilee back, grateful that her friend was trying to help in some way. She didn’t think she’d wind up with a date and was glad that Jubilee wouldn’t press her to try and get one. She had faith that this would be less embarrassing than when her, Jubilee and Logan had gone out to eat after her court date with her parents back in January. “Sounds like a good back up plan to me.”
“Best backup plan.” She tugged Cass out to the car, squeezing her hand as she did so, and then opened the door for her. “Found this new place. Should be fun. Bartender is hot. Kinda...well it’s kinda sad I think she’s taken…”
“So, you were planning on trying to hook me up with a bartender?” Cass asked as they got to the car, “There’s still the whole part though where neither of us are actually twenty one.” Sure underage actors always got into bars and clubs, but they were only Olympic Gymnasts. They weren’t quite as famous.”
Jubilee rolled her eyes and held out a fake ID for Cass. “I’m 21 chica! Turned it earlier this year. I’m AAAAAAAAAAAALL kinda legal now!”
Cass took the fake ID from Jubilee and inspected it, tipping her head so that her hair fell in front of her face so that Jubilee wouldn’t see the flush of her cheeks, “That’s right. I forgot.” With everything that had gone on over the last few months, Cass was surprised she even remembered her own name. “Where’d you get this?” She asked, finally lifting her head once her cheeks didn’t feel hot anymore.
“One of my best friends is the best computer hacker in the world with an alien computer, yo! ALWAYS COME PREPARED! NOW FORTH SOMETHING OR OTHER!” She pointed out the door.
“An Alien computer?” She quirked a brow at Jubilee, wondering what exactly an alien computer consisted of. Cass still wasn’t sure about this whole thing, but she wasn’t going to back out now before they went in. After they went in for a little while, she’d ask Jubilee if they could leave, but she didn’t want to wuss out now. Dream!Cass wouldn’t wuss out. She probably really understand what they were doing, but she wouldn’t wuss out. “Alright. Lets get this show on the road.”
“It’s shi’ar technology. Really advanced, almost sentient but not quite. That would be weird. We had a sentient computer once, she kinda went from being a similation for all kinds of danger and training and then gained an AI! Just.. evolved. Like a mutant like me!”
She dragged Cass out to the car, and ten minutes later was dragging her into Eve. Women danced and talked, and quite a few eyes fell on them as they entered.
Cass listened as Jubilee talked about the computer, not really understanding it all. She then let her friend drag her into the bar and just like when she went to the strip club with Logan, she wasn’t really sure where she should be looking at first. It was a little easier with the strip club at first, because she’d just avoided looking at the strippers when they’d first walked in. This was a little different and she was soon aware of a few eyes on them.
At the bar there was a woman in a black tank top and blue sari. She had a lot of tribal tattoos, and a glint in her eyes as she looked the two of them over. She sounded Australian. “What can I get you two lovebirds?”
Cass wasn’t exactly sure how to respond and she opened and closed her mouth, like a fish out of water. She hadn’t expected that anyone would think that her and Jubilee were together, although she probably should have, “We’re not...I mean…” And there was the blush that Cass from six months ago would have had.
Fang’s grin widened. “Even better. What do you want anyway?” She looked Cass up and down. “And what do you like?”
“I wanna bloody mary,” Jubilee said, placing a lot of emphasis on the word blood.
Cass was still a little flustered, but she managed to finally make a deicision, “Rum and coke.” She didn’t really drink much, but there were a few drinks that she was familar with. Cass didn’t know how to answer the bartenders next question, so she pretended that she had still been talking about drinks. Part of her hated how flustered she was, because it were as if seven months of work, on herself, had just gone down the drain in a matter of moments and she was the Cass from back then again.
“ID? Gotta see ‘em.” Fang leaned onto the bar, giving both women a fantastic view. She was taken, didn’t mean she couldn’t flirt up some extra sales.
“So what brings you to Eve?”
“Looking for a girl for my girl here,” Jubilee said, eyes flashing mischievously.
“Well you’re in the right place.”
Cass fumbled for the fake ID in her clutch and handed it over, still not sure what to say. She didn’t know if she should mention that this was all Jubilee’s idea and that she liked guys or just go with it. This shouldn’t have been so complicated.
Fang looked it over, then squinted at it, then handed it back. “One rum and coke coming up, for your perfectly legit looking ID, there.” But that was all she was getting.
She looked over at Jubilee and shook her head. “Rum an’ coke might be jus’ what she needs to experiment, but I don’t think it’s long term.”
Cass had worried that the ID wouldn’t pass, but the bartender didn’t seem to care too much. As she spoke to Jubilee, Cass’ cheeks flushed slightly and she glanced down at the bar top, thankful that the lights were low and they wouldn’t actually be able to see it, “It was her idea.” She finally said, just loud enough for Jubilee and the bartender to hear.
“Seems like it. Lemme give y’some advice.” She slid the drinks over to the ladies. “Fool around a bit. Y’might find you like it. But if you don’t, just try not to tug along any poor girl who wants to fall for you.”
Cass didn’t know what to say in response to that and found herself just nodding as she paid for the drink then picked it up. She was so out of her element here. Jubilee seemed so comfortable, then again Jubilee seemed comfortable in most places, and she had no idea how she should be acting.
A redhead sauntered up to the bar, sizing up both girls and the bartender, then turning her attention completely to the girls. “Hey.” Raven was on the prowl tonight, and she exuded subdued sexuality.
Cass should have expected to be approached, but for whatever reason she hadn’t. She knew she was good looking and in this particular dress her curves were pretty much on display no matter what she did, so there was no way to hide it and the heels made her already long legs look even longer. For a gymnast she was quite tall, curvy and well endowed. “Um, hi..” Cheeks flushing once more, Cass took a sip of her drink to try and cover it and hoped the lighting in the room didn’t give it away.
Raven smirked at her, licking her lips. She leaned in a little bit. “You seem a little out of your element, hon. I’m Irene.”
Jubilee eyed her, then nudged Cass towards her.
“Cass.” She said, torn between taking another sip of her drink and shooting daggers and Jubilee. The woman couldn’t have hit the nail harder on the head then she just did. Cass was definitely out of her element, “This was my friend’s idea.”
“Sometimes friends have good ideas.” She put her arm around Cass and started to guide her out towards the dance floor. She looked at Jubilee like ‘I’ll take it from here.’ Fang? Just laughed.
Raven walked with a gentle sway of her hips, and the hand on the arm around Cass’s shoulders toyed with her hair. “You should relax and enjoy life. I’ll only bite when you want me to.”
At a loss as to what she should do, Cass allowed the woman to lead her towards the dance floor, chewing on her bottom lip as she did so. As the redhead toyed with her hair and spoke, Cass’ pulse rose and her cheeks flushed. Aside from cuddling with Vi or Jubilee or Laura while watching movies, Cass had never been this close to another woman in this manner and had no idea how to respond to her comment, “I...oh…”
The redhead smirked, and guided Cass’s hands to the (in) appropriate places to rest while dancing. She could almost hear Cass’s pulse, and even in the dim light, she could see the blush. “Part of you is thrilled, isn’t it. Is it that I’m a woman, or just a stranger?”
“Um…” Cass’ dark eyes followed where the woman placed her hands then met her eyes, “Both. I’m not...I’m not really into women, but my friend insists I’d have better luck than I have with men.” She didn’t know why she was telling this woman all of this, but now that she’d started talking, she couldn’t stop. “But I think I’d just have bad luck no matter what.”
"That's not a very good attitude," Raven pointed out, her fingers trailing lightly up and down Cass's back as she led her in a dance that was entirely too slow. She moved a hand to the girl's hip and helped them move against each other. "You might have an exception. It might be me, or someone else. Or maybe you don't. But you shouldn't give up. You'll find someone eventually. Until then, have a lot of fun." She grinned, and leaned her head forward until their foreheads were touching. "And don't be afraid to experiment."
Cass’ heart hammered against her ribs as they danced, or as the redhead led the dance. “I...I don’t know. I haven’t even…” Here she bit her lip, stopping herself from getting way too personal with a stranger. It was one thing to talk about her lack of sex life with Jubilee or Violet, but not a complete stranger.
Raven’s hand slid around Cass’s waist, and then inched up her ribcage. It bypassed anything particularly naughty, until her fingers were caressing the girl’s throat. Then she tipped her chin up gently. Her voice was throaty and suggestive. “That’s why you should decide for yourself. Sometimes you need to simply...let yourself lose control.” Her lips were dangerously close to Cass’s, and her lipgloss shone in the club’s lightning.
The other woman was so close and all of Cass’ senses were suddenly overwhelmed. All she had to do was lean forward and she’d be kissing the other woman. It was an easy thing to do, but Cass was just too overwhelmed and instead of leaning in, she pulled back suddenly, “I’m sorry...I can’t…” Turning, she moved back towards the bar, dark eyes searching for Jubilee as she brought a hand up to her forehead before running it through her hair.
"Call me," Raven called out, then sighed. So close. But sometimes you had to let the line go slack in order to hook them. She'd revisit Cass, for sure.
Jubilee was halfway to sloshed when Cass came up, and she grinned. "Have fun?"
“Can we go?” Cass hoped that Jubilee would remember that she’d said they could go if Cass wasn’t having a good time. “I need some fresh air.”
She sobered up a little and nodded. Jubilee put her arm around Cass. “Come on. Lets get that ice cream. Kk?” She wasn’t sure what had gotten Cass so flustered, but she wasn’t going to push her friend just then.
“Thanks,” Where the redhead’s arm around her had made her nervous and flustered, Jubilee’s arm was comforting and she let her lead her out of the bar. She could definitely go for some ice cream and was grateful that Jubilee had kept her word.
