Darcy decided that she wanted to hang out with her friend and see what he was up to. Giving him a ring on the phone, they decided to hang out and people watch. She grabbed a drink from one of the cafes and then found a bench. She knew that he might not want to be around public, but if it got too out of hand, she’d go somewhere else with him.
“Hey,” she greeted with a wave when he showed up.
Thor dropped onto the bench next to her and slung an arm around her shoulders, hugging her, then grinned. “Hey. How goes it, oh beautiful one?”
He was enjoying the day, ignoring the people and just enjoying being near Darcy again.
She grinned and hugged him back tightly. “Hey. I’m pretty good. Can’t complain.” Well she could, but where was the fun in that.
“How’s tricks?” she asked.
Thor smiled at her, eyes warm. She was a good woman, and someone he liked, and cared about, more than he could often say. “Oh, tricksy. My adopted daughter is apparently living in town, my producer is starting to chase a new project while finishing mine, and one of my best friends is looking perky tonight. All in all, a very good evening.”
He grinned wider at her.
The same could be said for him. She really liked Thor, despite the whole Loki thing. It wasn’t like she was going to stop being friends with him. “Adopted daughter? Huh. Congrats?” She smiled back at him.
He blinked, then facepalmed. “Sorry, Adopted sister. My brains must be scrambled.” He sighed Then grinned at her. “Hela is her name. She is amazing.” He nodded.
“Oh! Adopted sister. That makes much much more sense.” She laughed a little. “Oh yeah, Hela. I saw her on the network. She seems pretty cool. Good taste in clothes.”
“She is interesting, as are all my family, it seems.” He smiled and shook his head. “How’ve things been for you?” He had been sad that her luck with men seemed to be continuing, and worried about her sometimes.
“Yeah your whole family is something else.” And that would be all she would say about that. Because she didn’t want to make him angry or anything. She shrugged some. “I’m dating someone, but who knows how that’ll go.” She’d probably fuck it up like usual.
Thor smiled at her. He would likely agree with all of her sentiments. He smiled a little. “Congratulations. I hope it goes well.” he reached out and gently gripped one of her hands. He believed in her, even if her luck in men seemed doomed.
“Thanks. Me too.” She wasn’t going to be completely negative about it, because that would just be self-sabotage. But still. Her luck was pretty shitty. “How’s married life?”
“It’s good. We have survived and are thriving living together, and enjoying it.” Thor smiled softly. “I did not think I ever would, again, enjoy romance, but I find that I truly do.”
“I’m glad that you’re happy. And as long as you’re surviving, I guess you’re doing something right.” Darcy didn’t really know what, because clearly she was bad at it.
“I think life is different for each of us, yes? Sometimes, we all have bad times.” He had experienced a prolonged really bad time, some years ago. It had taken him a long time to climb out of the darkness.
“Oh yeah. Life is one big shit pile for some people.” Sometimes it got better and sometimes it didn’t. Darcy knew that. Every life was up and down. “Sorry. I hate being like this, but I keep fucking everything up and it just brings everything else down.”
“I don’t know how to help, but I do know this. I believe in you. I believe it can get better for you.” He smiled softly. “I wish I knew how to help.”
“Thanks big guy. I’ll be okay. Whatever happens happens.” She shrugged and then smiled some. “Nothing to do. I just have to move forward. Don’t look back.”
“Okay.” He smirked. “Then we should go out rollerskating. And I’ll take you flying.” He nodded.
“Rollerskating? You rollerskate?” Her eyebrows went up. “Seriously? I don’t think I can picture that, so you’re going to have to show me.” Flying was okay. “Tony Stark made me a suit. I can fly. Technically. It’s got a taser.”
“I do, yes.” He smirked at her, and nodded. “We should go together, then, when you are willing. If the suit is up to his usual good, then I want to take you to my favorite place.” He smiled warmer at her, honestly glad to be with her.
“We could go together. I need the practice on how to fly the damn thing anyway. I’ve only ever used it twice.” And both times she had nearly killed herself. Well not really since she was in the suit but still. “Any time you want. I don’t have much going on.”
Thor grinned and clapped.her shoulder gently. "How is tomorrow?" He liked spending time with her and planned on doing it a lot more often.
“Tomorrow’s good with me. We can go flying. You can catch me if I act like I’m going to crash into someone or something.” Because that was the last thing she wanted. “I had to promise Jane I wouldn’t bring it to the house. Or I’d destroy it. The house, not the armor.”
“Sounds perfect. We can meet out at the quarry near where I had my accident last year.” THor nodded, the idea forming. “You up for it?”
“Okay, you’ve got yourself a flying date.” Thankfully that meant she wasn’t going to hurt anyone. Hopefully. “So what else have you been up to?”
“Great!” He grinned at her, and knew it would be fun!
“Mostly working and flying back and forth between shoots and home. It is made a little easier by my powers, I admit, but even so, I look forward to the end of shooting in a week.” He nudged her. “And you?”
“Not much. Moved in with Jane. Broke up with your brother. Dating Clint. The usual.” She shrugged some.
Thor blinked, and then nodded. And blinked a little more. “Sounds like an interesting life.” He smiled to her, warmth in his eyes. “Whatever else, I am glad we have this.”
Darcy couldn’t help but snort a little. “It’s not. Yeah I’m glad we’re still friends.” She would have hated to lose that. “So I’ll see you tomorrow yeah? Flying?”
“Yes! I’ll come by your place, then?” He grinned as he clasped her hand and kissed it.
“Sounds good. Come over whenever.” She grinned at him. “Guess I should head back and cook Jane dinner. She’s hopeless.”
Thor chuckled. “I do most of the cooking for Natasha, myself.” He rose, then and swept her into a hug. “Be well, my friend, and I will see you tomorrow.”
“Aren’t you sweet?” she grinned slightly and then hugged her friend back tightly. “See you tomorrow big guy.”
