Wait, you mean we have to share?
Who: Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy
When: Saturday, July 27
Where: Switzerland
What: Arriving at the hotel after a really long flight
Rating/Warning: Low/None
Status: Complete
Gwen was just plain exhausted. How long had they been travelling? She couldn’t remember and she really didn’t care. She just wanted a shower, to brush her teeth, and collapse into bed. After arriving at the airport where she could hear possibly dozens of other languages, Gwen had followed Peter to get a taxi, and then off to the hotel.
Talk about awkward. They pretty much didn’t talk the whole way. Just the bare necessities. Gwen had several books on tape on her iPod, and spent the entire time listening to them. And snoozing. And wishing she had more things to do. Now they were at the hotel, checking in, and the guy behind the counter said that Stark had reserved two beds not two rooms.
“Wait, you mean we have to share??”
He sighed when he heard the mention of having to share and actually, physically facepalmed before just taking the keycard angrily. He offered a grimacing sort of smile towards the woman behind the desk, and then began to make his way towards the elevator. Knowing Tony, it was likely going to be a decent and nice room too, so he looked towards Gwen, “Look, we’re going to deal with this, so let’s just make the best of it. You get one bed, I get the other, and we’ll make some ground rules about bathrooms and showers and stuff...”
He then pointed at her, “And I will be Skyping Pansy...” he blinked, sighing, “Oh god she’s going to flip...”
Gwen accepted the key card, and frowned as she turned to follow Peter. “...all right. I will be crashing and sleeping.” She said, shaking her head a bit. The hotel was nice. She shouldn’t have been surprised, but she was. When she’d heard ‘business trip’ she was thinking ‘Motel 6’ not ‘Ritz-Carlton’... they took the elevator up to their room.
“I’ll just... you won’t even know I’m around.” That was the hope, anyway. Gwen didn’t want to be there to have to listen to... that. But one room? one room?? “You can do... whatever it is you two do, and I’ll make myself scarce.”
“Try not to make it sound like that, will you? It’s not … like that all the time you know,” he frowned a moment as they rode the elevator. He’d spent the entire flight reading up on the LHC, on Geneva, and trying to learn some of the local language and customs. He’d also spent a great deal of battery life on his iPod, to keep himself occupied. He didn’t want to be here, not with her; it wasn’t that he necessarily had a thing against her, but there were things about his dreams that made him uncomfortable about being around her. What was worse, there were the memories too, and the anger those brought to him. He watched the numbers, and then the door opened and he stepped out ahead of her, and towards his room.
“And I’ll do the same for you and whatever sort of boyfriend you might have right now.”
Gwen knew now that she was an idiot then. She never should have given Peter up. Not that she was still in love with him (except in her dreams) but she knew what a good man he was, and what a good man he always would be. The dreams were just re-affirmation of that fact--one that kept beating her over the head with it night after night.
A little snort escaped her. “Right. Whatever sort of boyfriend I have.” She shook her head, following him out of the elevator. “No boyfriend, no. No one itching to Skype with me back at home.” She waited while he used the key card, and then followed him into the hotel room.
“Seriously? I find it hard to believe you haven’t been on any dates,” he said while making his way across the room and setting his stuff down on the table. The room was rather large, with the two beds set off from a living area, but otherwise a typical sort of hotel room. There was also a balcony with a table and chairs for outside dining, just outside of the bedroom area. He frowned noticing the two beds were in the same location; well that was just uncalled for, wasn’t it? He glanced towards her, and tried to remember if she slept naked and suddenly really hoped she was a nightgown girl at least.
He was going to have to hope it was cool enough to sleep in sleep pants at the very least.
“Maybe one or two,” Gwen said as she moved into the room. She moved to the closest bed and lifted her suitcase to set on it. Thankfully, she’d brought a night shirt. It was an oversized t-shirt, black, with a Pink Floyd logo on it. She’d had it since before the two of them started dating. While they were living together, she slept naked for the most part. Not in hotel rooms in foreign countries, though. “No one seems to stick around.” Maybe that was her punishment for the mistake she made letting go of Peter so long ago.
“Well probably doesn’t help you’re taking two week trips to Geneva, and after all you only just moved back here... or well there I guess, since here is Geneva,” he tossed his own stuff onto the bed and began to rummage through it. Since they were to be here for a few weeks, he began to fill up drawers with his clothes letting out a breath as he went. It was probably a bit obvious how uncomfortable he felt being there, but it was obvious to him, too, how awkward it was for her to be there as well. He almost brought it up but really didn’t want to deal with it right now, and instead made his way for the bathroom.
“I’m going to take a shower in order to wash away a day’s worth of travel.”
“I’m going to climb into bed,” Gwen said without looking at him. She didn’t want to talk about her lack of dates with Peter of all people, in Geneva of all places. She set about unpacking her case, too, since that seemed like a fairly good idea, anyway. “And crash.” She stifled a yawn, moving some things from her bed into the drawers. “I’m exhausted.” If they could get a second room later, she could very easily move her things, even if she was unpacked. Two weeks’ worth of clothes was really not that much, considering they had access to laundry facilities.
