It was a simple matter, once he saw the car. Ozai sped up the truck, his headlights flashing in Azula’s eyes just as he slammed into the passenger side of the little sports car. It spun out of control, flipping several times before slamming into a phone pole. The truck was still running when Ozai stepped out, and approached the mangled wreck. With one quick use of Alex’s powers, he hit the car, flipping it back onto it’s popped tires.
“I hope your necks didn’t break. I have so much planned for you.”
Ty Lee was still driving, and very stunned when the car finally stopped moving. Some glowy guy was attacking them for some reason, and she wasn’t sure what to do. She tried to get out of the mangled car, but her right hand hurt when she moved it, enough to make her cry out.
She looked over at Azula after her brain began to work again, and once the air bags diminished.
Azula’s face was bloody, and she felt a sharp pain in her chest. There was some piece of metal protruding from it. She decided to ignore that for now and tried to crawl from the wreck.
Ozai grabbed Ty Lee by the hair and yanked her from the car. “Hello little whore. Khamul sends his regards, but I get to play with you first, while my daughter watches.”
Ty Lee’s leg was also not working right. She didn’t really understand what was going on. Why did this guy want to hurt her? “You’re not her dad, he’s dead.” She mumbled, trying to stand on her good leg. If she could just get a second to think everything would be okay. “Go ‘way.”
"Crimes come back to haunt you, child." Ozai threw Ty Lee to the ground, then stepped on her injured hand, and ground his heel.
Azula coughed blood, and tried to bend fire. It wasn't very effective.
Ty Lee screamed in pain as she felt his weight come down on her already broken hand. She shuddered from the force of the sensation and tried to pull it against her body as she shuddered. There was nothing in the world but that pain for a long time, and she curled up, trying to protect the injured hand.
Her wife could do nothing but watched. She’d realized she was pinned to the car. She had no idea who this man was and why he was doing this. She wanted to scream, to burn him to make him suffer.
Ozai laughed. “I have none of my tools, but we’ll start with your feet. See, Azula? This is what happens when you let yourself grow weak.” He walked back to the truck, and pulled out a sledge hammer.
Ty Lee tried to crawl away, but she couldn’t get very far on her broken knee, and she quickly became disoriented if she moved too much. It was hard to even focus, and she forgot after a second to keep crawling.
The sledgehammer came down on Ty Lee’s foot. It was inelegant and brutal, but he didn’t have the time for what he truely wanted to do. The sound Azula made was more than satisfactory. “You can never escape, Ty Lee. Did you really think you could get out without consequences? Did you really think you could pervert my daughter and get away with it?”
The crunching sound was horrible. Ty Lee shrieked again, and once more tried to curl up. She wasn’t walking around armed to the teeth anymore, and she was beginning to regret that. Her cell phone was in the car, she couldn’t even call for help. They were truly alone, and at this man’s mercy. “You’re not Ozai.” She said, between sobs. “You’re not.” She still didn’t understand what was happening. When had their date gone so wrong?
Ozai leaned down, and whispered something in Ty Lee's ear. It was a bit of information about her past that only he or Iroh would have known about.
He straightened, then jammed the hammer into the small of Ty Lee's back. He left it there and walked back to the truck.
In the car, Azula was trying to get to her phone. It had fallen to the floor of the wreck, and she was using her feet to try to get it up. She needed to call that girl. The one that could take them to that doctor. She was pretty sure she was going to die if she didn't.
She was pretty sure she'd die anyway if anything more happened to Ty Lee. If she couldn't save her, if this man tortured her to death, Azula would simply let herself burn to ash.
Ty Lee shuddered at his voice in her ear, and sobbed. Ozai was supposed to be dead. How could he be here? How could he be in this other guy? Her train of thought was interrupted when the hammer slammed into the small of her back, and the pain in her leg and foot went away. The pain in her back, however, was excruciating. She threw up from it, and tried to drag herself away, again, her strapless dress sliding down her body, exposing her sensitive chest and belly to the gravel and detritus on the side of the road. Her lower half wouldn’t move at all, but Ty Lee was almost strong enough to drag herself away on her elbows.
Ozai came back with some tools. A screwdriver, plyers, and wire strippers. He pulled Ty Lee's face up so that Azula could get a good look at it, before he got around to disfiguring it.
He started with her ears....
Ty Lee’s shrieks of pain and horror were loud, and the world became nothing but pain. She would give anything to make it stop. She’d kill Azula, she’d bear thirteen of his children at once, any horrible act she could think of was acceptable as long as it stopped him from hurting her.
Azula squawked, and spit out blood. She begged him to stop, begged him to leave her wife alone. To hurt her instead. Isn't that what he wanted? To hurt her for being a failure of a daughter?
She had to stop this, had to get Ty Lee away from this. She even had to warn Draco, because he'd surely be next.
Managing to dial a number Kitty had given her, she couldn't say anything. She had to rely on the screams.
There was a flash of light. Ozai looked up to see a brightly colored woman. In the next instant he found himself suddenly atop a very cold, very snowy mountain.
Clarice turned, then knealt and picked up Ty Lee. She carried her over to Azula. "Hold on, you're going to start bleeding out as soon as I port you away."
Azula closed her eyes and breathed a little easier.
Faiza had barely had time to get ready before Clarice ported the two women in. She looked at them both. "Give the younger girl a shot from that syringe over there to help with the pain, I need to make sure Azula doesn't die first."
Clarice nodded, and did so!
Ty Lee was insensible, and only slumped on whatever surface Clarice landed on. She wasn’t even crying anymore, really. She’d stopped registering reality.
Faiza closed up Azula’s chest wound, then turned to Ty Lee. She started on the woman’s spine first, then her face. Hands were next, then legs. They’d be really sore for awhile, and psychologically scarred, but physically they’d be fine. She slumped down herself when she was done. “What the bloody hell happened?”
“I don’t know,” Clarice said, pulling her phone out. “But whoever it was wasn’t who he looked like.” She called Lorna.
Lorna wasn’t sleeping, she was just sitting in bed in the hotel, staring at the tv. She perked up when her phone rang, but deflated when she saw it was just Clarice. Still, she answered on the second ring. “Hello?”
“Lorna?” Clarice said. She had that tone of voice that said ‘I have really bad news and I don’t know how to say it so I’m gonna say it.’ “I just saw Alex.”
“Where? Is he okay?” Lorna was already putting her shoes on, ready og leap into action, whatever that action might be. “He’s not hurt, is he?”
“I don’t...I don’t think he’s himself.” Clarice looked back at the two girls. “I just saved to girls as he was … It’s bad, Lorna. They’re hurt really, really badly.”
Lorna didn't even pause. "Where is he?" That was really all she needed to know. She'd assess the situation when she got there.
“Mount Everest. I’ll come get you.” Clarice hung up the phone, portaled to Lorna, and then took them to the mountain.
Ozai had already started the descent, and had become lost in a growing snow storm.
Lorna could see him if she used her powers. The cold was intense, but she ignored it, making a beeline for Alex. “Baby, stop! I’m going to take you home!” She wasn’t sure he could hear her over the wind, but they had to all get home before they froze.
“Alex” turned, and without a word, fired off a blast towards Lorna, intent on killing her before she got too close.
Lorna dodged, and tried not to think about that. She had to get him to safety without getting hurt. Luckily his powers were pretty obvious, and they were standing on a mountain with no civilians. She drew on her powers, pulling metal out of the earth and from the detritus of other climbers. She could contain him without hurting him, she just needed a little time and concentration.
Clarice didn’t know what Lorna was doing but she assumed that she knew WHAT she was doing. She darted in, flipping around like a maniac and drawing Ozai’s attention away from Lorna. She was careful to not actually hit him - no matter what he’d done, it wasn’t his fault.
Blink knew exactly how that felt.
The metal slithered under the snow, to take Alex by surprise. When it was close enough it wrapped around his feet and toppled him over, wrapping around him from the neck down. She lifted Alex and Clarice, holding on to both of them, despite the burning cold of the metal. “We need to get back quick, if he stays in this he’ll die.”
“Hold on.” Clarice ported them back to the Ranch. She put Alex into a special cell, for the time being. She understood why that thing existed now.
Lorna undid his bonds, and pulled the metal out of the room. She looked at the door, clearly torn about the situation. She was glad he was safe now, and couldn’t hurt anyone.
“I’ll contact Scott,” Clarice said, softly. “He’ll know what to do.”
Lorna nodded, and turned to Clarice. “The girls he hurt, are they okay? Do you know what happened?” She hoped Alex wouldn’t remember this when he was fixed.
“I think he rammed Alex’s truck into their car. One girl had something in her chest. The other....” Clarice trailed off, then tried to continue. “I think he tortured her.”
Lorna looked heartbroken at the very idea of that. She looked at the cell, then at Clarice again. “Wh- I- fuck.” She filled that one curse word with a lot of emotions. After the battle and her own dreams of Genosha she was not at all prepared to deal with this. “Can we fix all this?”
"There's always hope. We can fix this." Because clarice didn't believe that there was no alternative. "And if we can't, there might be someone else who can."
Lorna nodded, her expression still grim. “Yes. We’ll figure it out.” She pushed her hand through her hair. “I need to call a couple people, which way is out?”
"This way," she turned to lead Lorna out. She knew the way too well, by now.
