The Stepford Cuckoos were still annoyed at Emma's ruling that the school's production of Romeo and Juliet only have one female lead. They had gone to practice together, even though it was decided among them that Esme would take the role. Celeste, Mindee and Phoebe sat in the nearly-empty audience seating, obediently leaving the director's mind alone.

Nero and Esme were onstage in bed. They were dressed in Shakespearian pajamas, still very proper for a high school play. Nero was sitting up and Esme reached out to him.
