Who: Nancy Drew and Lionel Sweeney
What: More adventures in Hawaii
When: Today/tonight
Where: Uh.. Hawaii?
Warnings: Possibly some yep :P

After having found Lionel and getting herself dressed and fed, the two of them started off towards 3 Fingers Rock. She'd looked it up on the blackberry and finally found the coordinates and put them on the GPS system. She let him drive, since he seemed to think that she was bad luck on the road. That was certainly possible. When they couldn't drive anymore, she got out of the car and walked across another bridge with him.

There were little flags that seemed to point the way, and a table underneath this tree, along with a clipboard and some other stuff but no sign of Dr. Quigley. She started to look around. "Dr. Quigley?" she called.

After a moment, she heard a voice, "Nancy Drew? Up here?" Oh yes. She was up the tree.

Yeah, bad luck behind the wheel to him. He wasn't letting her drive the car any more the rest of the trip because one bridge collapsing was enough. Lionel was dressed better than the night before, wearing cargo pants and a t-shirt along with some kind of hiker's boots. His feet itched a little since they were somewhat prickly. He'd packed a razor so he could keep the bits of him sticking out shaved closely, so his face had a freshly shaven shadow to it. His hair was starting to grow on top of his head though, and he forgot the scissors to cut it. Hopefully it wouldn't be down his back before they left.

When the voice came out of nowhere, Lionel looked up at the same time as Nancy, seeing the woman in the tree, his hand sheltering his eyes from the sun.

Nancy glanced up too, squinting a bit, "Uh.. yeah. it's me, Dr. Quigley. And Lionel.. uh.. hi."

"Hi!" she called. The woman was obviously a happy camper. Even if her stuff was ruined. "I'm glad you found me. I'd come down but well there are these bugs nesting up here. Really rare ones. If I leave, they'll be disturbed."

"Um, okay, Dr. Quigley. Anyways. I took an inventory of what's left of your stuff? I'll put it down here so you can figure out what you've lost."

"That's very sweet of you dear. Have you gone up to the research facility yet?"

"Oh yes, we did. We're going to go back up there soon."

"Okay, well come back here after you've had a look around."

"Will do!" she called and turned back to Lionel. "Well that was.. uneventful. Hm. Do you want to head to the research facility? I don't think she needs us. If you need something, we can go back to Big Mike's.. they had.. lots of.. stuff.."

Lionel blinked. That was...it? Well, how anti-climatic. At least he'd been pleasant enough to wave at Dr. Quigley, even if he was a bit disappointed with this part.

Lionel ran his fingers through his hair, then realized it was longer than he thought. "I need to get scissors," and he lifted up strands of his hair to stretch out from his head and let it fall. "Then we can head to the research facility again." He didn't like that place very much. It made him feel uncomfortable, like he was waiting for the other shoe to drop.

They walked back down and got back in the car, Lionel remembered the coords for Big Mike's and he fiddled with the GPS, doing it himself. He was learning at least.

"Okay.. up to Big Mike's it is.." she settled into the car and let him fiddle with the GPS and then head them back up towards there. She half thought about snuggling up against him as they drove but figured it wasn't a good idea since he was driving.

When they got there, she got out and spotted both Big Mike and Pua down by the beach. "Hey Lionel? They're both.. down there. Um. How about.. you go inside, and get the scissors and do just some.. poking around? I'll keep them both occupied." she was the snoop after all, not him.

He'd gotten out and was checking to see if he had anything to barter for the scissors when she'd turned his attention to the pair down by the beach. He looked from them to her, narrowing his eyes at her. So she was sending him on the reconnaissance mission. "Signal me if they are headed this way," he said and disappeared inside of the shop.

He walked around inside, hoping to find a pair of scissors, even if they were regular office ones. No luck so far, and he started pulling open drawers on the desk. A small pile of papers caught his attention though, especially when he saw the word testing mentioned several times. Hmm, he'd just take this. He folded them up as best he could and stuffed them down in his huge pocket on the side of his cargo pants.

There was a date circled on the calendar nearby with a dollar sign in it, which he found strange. Wondering if any other dates like that were marked, he started flipping through the calendar and felt a lump underneath it. He pulled it off the wall and turned it over to find a key. Wonder what it went to?

Of course she'd signal him. That was no problem. By the time she got down to the beach, Pua was already in the water. Well that was fine, one less person to keep an eye on, even if she was generally keeping an eye on her. She smiled and chatted with Big Mike about this and that, and told him they'd gotten all set up though someone had trashed Dr. Quigley's stuff.

He acted surprised of course and told her that they could have whatever was needed on the house to fix things up. She thanked him, and they talked about some more stuff. Anytime she felt like he was going to head back up to the store, she'd make up some other excuse about something.

Too bad she didn't know someone was on their way up to the hut without her knowledge.

Lionel searched around for a place for the key to be used, eventually finding a locked cabinet. He stuck the key in and unlocked it, then pushed around inside of the cabinet to see what he could find. Inside was a map with a dollar sign on a specific spot with a circle around it. Was this on the island? He was tilting the map, fixing the map's coordinates in his head before he started sticking it back where he found it. Just as he was closing the cabinet back and locking it, he felt something crack him over the back of the head, and Lionel sprawled out on the floor, knocked unconscious by whomever had managed to sneak in undetected by Nancy.

A couple of moments later Big Mike decided to head back up to the hut, and so Nancy followed behind, quickly sending a text message to Lionel behind his back that Mike was coming. Of course he was unconscious and couldn't get it, but she didn't know that. Well not until she heard Mike exclaim for her help.

She raced in after Mike and saw Lionel crumpled up on the ground. "Oh god.." she knelt down beside him, wide eyed and checked to make sure he wasn't bleeding. He wasn't, thankfully. But he was going to have a huge bump on his head. "Get me some ice?" she asked Mike, who went to go get it. She cradled him a bit in her lap and tried to wake him up by nudging him a bit. "Lionel? Oh god.. please wake up."

His PDA was ringing in his pocket with the text message, but he didn't get it. Lionel groaned as she rolled him over and cradled him, though he didn't come to just yet. It took a few minutes before he lazily opened his eyes to blurry vision and the sight of Nancy staring him back in the face. He immediately frowned because he wanted to get up and kick the hell out of whoever hit him. But when he lifted his head, all it did was make the pounding headache worse, and he laid back down.

"That hurt like hell," he moaned and put his hand to his head where it throbbed. Yeah, definitely a huge knot there. "And where were you, Miss I'm Guarding the Door?" he asked sarcastically.

"I'm sorry.. I was.. I was.. distracting.." she whispered not knowing where Mike was exactly. "I am so sorry.. this is all my fault. I got you hurt.." she was quite upset. She checked his head again and then leaned down to kiss his forehead. Soon Mike came with the ice and she held it against his head.

"I know this is .. y'know.. dumb but.." she held up two fingers, "How many am I holding up? I don't want you to have a concussion.."

His mouth twitched into a smile, finding it sweet that she was fussing so much over him. "It's fine. I'm fine. Why are you giving me the middle finger?" he asked, a serious look on his face at first, but it faded into a grin. "I'm joking."

He winced when she pressed the ice to his head. The bump was still pretty tender right now. "Don't blame yourself. I should have paid more attention." He was kind of mad at himself since he didn't notice someone come into the store behind him.

Of course she was going to fuss. He was hurt, and it was her fault. Just not technically. She frowned at him for joking but gave a small smile a moment afterwards. "Are you sure? If you have a concussion then.." she trailed off. There wasn't any real way to get him back. At least not yet. She didn't want him to sit up until he was ready.

"I should have been doing this, not you.." she mumbled. "Did you... see anyone at all?"

"Yes, I'm positive I saw two fingers then." He didn't have a concussion, just the world's worst headache. He hoped Big Mike or Dr. Quigley had a ton of aspirin for him to take. "No, I didn't see anyone. They got me from behind when I was shutting the cabinet." He lowered his voice and reached down to the pocket on his leg and unzipped it, pulling out the top of the papers he stuffed in them. "I found these, you can take a look at them once we're out of here." Sighing, he tried to sit up a little. "I'm an adult and I probably took that hit better than you would have. Can we leave here now before they come back?"

Actually Big Mike did have a bunch of asprin. He brought it over to Lionel with a glass of water. She helped him sit up to take it and then thanked Mike and handed him back his stuff so that he could leave and she could talk to Lionel again. She leaned in to look at what he'd gotten. "Hm. Okay. Will do that. Yeah I think we should go.." she let him put away that stuff and then helped him sit up. "I am an adult too you know.."

She had Mike come over to help her help him up and get him to the car. Of course once he was settled in, and SHE was driving for once, she exchanged some words with Mike and then got into the car. "So.. he thinks we were snooping, but I think I kind of deflected it. Blamed it on the person who hit you. That maybe you found them. Or something. I dunno. Anyways.. you're going to lie down.."

After he'd taken the aspirin and drank some water to wash them down, he groaned again when the two of them lifted him up off the floor and got him a little steady on his feet. At first he tried to walk, but that didn't go far when he wobbled. Guess he was still a little woozy from the knock to the head.

"I walked in to barter with Mike and I surprised someone else snooping. Good alibi," he nodded. Oh hell, she was driving. That probably meant they were going to run off a cliff now. "But I don't feel like lying down. We've got work to do."

Yes, she was driving. She really was a good driver. Accidents in the car never happened to her. Her father drilled her too hard about the importance of automobile care. "Well .. you can give me the stuff and I'll look it over and then you take a small nap and then we go. You're hurt.. that comes first."

And amazingly, she was doing a good job with the car, not getting into any accidents or anything on the way. She parked the car once back at camp and then moved around to help him out of the car and into the tent. "Come on.. let's lie down.."

Christ, he was being babied, and Lionel was very opposed to that. In fact, the entire ride, he protested that he'd be fine and he didn't really need to lie down. Once his headache ever faded, he'd be good as gold. But she wouldn't hear any of that. Reluctantly, Lionel got out of the car and headed inside of their tent, stretching out on their makeshift bed. He reached and pulled the papers out of his pocket and zipped it back up, then handed them over to Nancy for her to read. Maybe lying down would make his headache go away quicker.

Yawning, he made room for her to lie down next to him, one arm curled under his head, mindful of the knot, and the other outstretched for her to get close so he could wrap his arm around her.

Taking the papers from him, she finally lie down next to him and curled up around him some so that he could hold onto her. Of course she was going to look over the papers first. She went through them, hmming to herself as she tried to figure out exactly what all of that stuff meant. "Well it looks like Big Mike is up to something, but we should do some more poking around before we go accusing someone of something."

She finally put her head down on his shoulder, "Let me know when the advil has kicked in and you feel better so we can go.."

Lionel had closed his eyes, but he hadn't fallen asleep yet. "Up to something? Hmm. In the shop there was a date circled with a dollar sign on it and in the locked cabinet I found a map with coordinates marked with another dollar sign. That was the last thing I found before I was hit." Then he smiled, "But I memorized them before whoever got a chance to hit me."

"Oh? Well what were they?" all of a sudden she sat up to go get a paper and to write it all down so that neither of them forgot. "oh and what date was it that was circled?" she hm'd. "We're going to have to drive out there. Maybe I should go take a small look while you lay here? I won't be gone too long and I won't even get out of the car, I promise."

"The coordinates are 100, 35, which are somewhere on this island and the date was two dates from today." When she mentioned leaving his sight, his arm clenched around her and dark, intense eyes stared down at her. "You will do no such thing. You're not going anywhere out here without me. Getting hit on the head is the least of the things that could happen." She'd lost her mind if she thought he was going to let her go somewhere alone when people were already snooping around and trying to prevent them from finding out what was going on around here.

Nancy scribbled down the coordinates on the paper and the date and tried to think. She pulled out her blackberry to see if it actually told her where she was going so she wouldn't be surprised. "Someone obviously doesn't want us snooping.. and .." she saw him staring down at her. "Lionel.. I'll be fine. I'm not even going to get out of the car! And you have to rest. I won't be gone that long. I'll even call you and talk to you the whole time on the phone."

He still wasn't pleased with that response. "What if something happens to you and you have the car? I can't get to you." There was a small pained expression on his face, like genuine worry. "Can't you just wait until my headache is gone? It will probably be an hour at most."

Pouting? For real? Okay, fine. She couldn't resist pouting, or him looking hurt like that. "Okay.. I'll stay.. just rest.." mostly she just wanted him to feel better. But she'd be antsy Nancy until they were all ready to go. She curled back up around him, putting everything beside her and snuggled into him. "Just relax.. nothing will happen to me.. I promise."

"I've read the books, and since someone was writing those, your fate was decided. This is real, and you could die." He sighed in relief that she was listening to him this time, and she could feel his body relax more now that she'd acquiesced to his wish. "It will be nice to be home in our own bed in a few days," he said, softly stroking her hip.
